Christian Religious Education is a strong, firm, and fundamental Christian commitment in church ministry. If the church ignores teaching, then the church becomes static, lives in ignorance of faith, and means nothing. The task of the church is to equip and teach the members of the congregation to remain faithful to God and carry out his commands. This task remains relevant and must be continuously updated according to the demands of needs, developments, challenges, and contexts. With education, the church helps believers so that they can live as disciples of Christ, be able to apply their faith in daily life, and make Christian Religious Education the basis for carrying out missions. A person's spiritual growth does not occur because of his status as a Christian, or because of his faithfulness to follow church services. Therefore, the entire existence of the church in its ministry must be centered on planned and continuous teaching.

This study sought to establish the linkage between stewardship and discipleship in the context of Kwamrombo SDA Church in Arusha City, using 20 church members as participants. Data was collected through face-to-face interviews and the thematic approach was employed in analysis. The study holds that in order to resolve the discipleship and stewardship issues in the Kwamrombo church, members need to make decisions to equally support the church through discipleship and stewardship. If couples plan their finances together, they will be more likely to remind each other on the importance returning tithe and giving offering faithfully. They will also be of help to their children and other church members. Church programs need be conducted in a holistic approach by encompassing both spiritual and economic empowerment aspects including entrepreneurship and personal financial management. There is need for intentional discipleship program that will enable the church members to know their God given responsibilities as Disciples of Christ. Church pastors and church leaders need to launch stewardship programs that will include faithfully receiving the word of God in their lives and living in harmony with the word. This will motivate members to return tithe, give offerings and participate in discipleship programs effectively.

The disciple is a seminal topic for every Evangelist. The Johannine image of the followers of the Rabbi from Nazareth diverges from the Synoptic vision. In the Fourth Gospel, the disciples follow and serve the Master – like in Mark, Matthew, and Luke – yet the Johannine Jesus does not ask them to break their family ties or leave anything behind. A narrative analysis of the Fourth Gospel lets Culpepper consider the disciples of Christ from the perspective of their literary functions and determine the criteria of their discipleship. The critic divides their formation process into three stages related to seeing, believing, and continuing in the word. In the eyes of the reader, the followers of Jesus – perceived individually or as a community – perform functions as role models or representatives. To be a disciple is to accept the gift of becoming a child of God (John 1:12), which presumes a broad, universal perspective. For this reason, the author of John uses the term »disciple« as many as seventy-eight times, »Twelve« – only four times, while the word »apostle« is never spoken.

From the outset Christianity had a proper name in its signature: Christ. Christians are the disciples of Christ, those who gain reward from the Revelation done in and through Christ. From the New Testament to the Second Vatican Council, this Christian identity is expressed in terms of fullness. Christ is the fullness, or plenitude, of Revelation: ‘full of grace and truth’ (John 1:14). Thus, understanding the bond between Christology and Revelation comes down to grasping this fullness and the correlation between the fullness of Revelation and the fullness of Christ.

After his return to Kentucky, Ben Major becomes deeply involved in the nascent Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); its founders, Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone, stridently oppose slavery. Ben had long harbored doubts about slavery. Now, driven by his new faith and memories of the brutal New Orleans slave markets, he decides to free his enslaved people. He becomes a life member of the American Colonization Society but learns that emancipation is not a simple process. Ben creates a multi-year plan that includes teaching his slaves to read and write. He also makes plans to move his own family from the slave state of Kentucky to the free state of Illinois and purchases land in Tazewell County, Illinois. When a colonization society agent, G. W. McElroy, travels through southwestern Kentucky, Ben’s slaves are turned over to him for transport to New York.

Ben Major, an early member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is deeply committed to his faith and is often referred to as “father” or “reverend.” In an 1846 letter to the American Colonization Society, Ben notes that his copies of the society’s publication are addressed to Rev. Ben Major. He asks them to drop the title in the future, saying that he is “nothing but a plain Christian,” a sentiment that ignores his significant contributions to the church. Chapter 19 details Ben’s involvement in the church, as well as that of his brothers and close friends.

Back in the United States, proslavery and antislavery positions become polarized. Ben Major had not come to his decision to free and colonize his slaves in a vacuum but found support from some others in his denomination, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and his community. Their views are not universally accepted. A few abolitionists support colonization; most fervently oppose it. Some slave owners support colonization; others vilify their peers who free slaves for migration. The slave revolt aboard the Amistad and the subsequent 1841 Supreme Court decision fuel the debate in America over slavery and increase interest in colonization.
