The Yunnan boast three broad-leaved forests, the semi-wet evergreen broad-leaved forest (SWEB) occurring in subtropical plateaus areas, the lower montane evergreen broad-leaved forest (LMEB) in tropical lower montane, and the upper montane evergreen broad-leaved forest (UMEB) in subtropical upper montane regions. Floristic composition and biogeography of these evergreen broad-leaved forests are studied and their diversification and divergence are revealed. I found similarities across the three forest types with species-rich families tending to have cosmopolitan distributions and families with less species exhibiting other distribution types. In biogeographical elements, the SWEB and the UMEB showed similar affinity in the proportion of tropical elements comprising total genera, specifically 45% and 44% respectively, and temperate elements totaling 46% and 48%, of all genera with northern temperate distribution comprising the highest ratio (18% in the SWEB and 20% in the UMEB ). LMEB tropical elements comprised 79% of the total genera, with tropical Asian distributed elements contributing the highest ratio (27%). While the three forest floras comprised of similar families, the same is not true at the genus and species levels. I suggest our results indicate divergence of the three forest floras, possibly from events in the geological history of Yunnan. From recent palaeobotanical studies, the diversification of floras of these evergreen broad-leaved forests in Yunnan occurred during the late Miocene with increased divergence with time in response not only to altitude changes and at the same time global cooling in Yunnan, but also the southeastward extrusion of Indochina geoblock influencing LMEB, and the Himalayan uplift affecting the floras of SWEB and UMEB.

The comparative analysis of floristic composition of the Russian Plain center broad-leaved forests of the alliance Carpinion betuli Issler 1931 em. Meyer 1937 was carried out by means of detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) and direct ordination along ecological factor scales. The three associations representing the proper zonal units of the area, namely Querco-Tilietum cordatae Laivinš 1983 in the hemiboreal forest zone, Aceri campestris—Tilietum cordatae ass. nov. hoc loco in the broad-leaved forest zone, and Aceri campestris—Quercetum roboris Bulokhov et Solomeshch 1991 in the forest-steppe zone are characterized. Although all the forest stands described are small geographically isolated fragments, their floristic composition demonstrates the existence of syntaxonomic continuum and seems to be influenced by landscape features and anthropogenic disturbance just as strong as by zonal climatic factors. As a result of the undertaken analysis, the syntaxonomical revision of the Central-Russian broad-leaved forests of the alliance Carpinion betuli Issler 1931 em. Meyer 1937 is proposed.

The spatiotemporal distribution pattern of the aerosol optical depth (AOD) is influenced by many environmental factors, such as meteorological condition changes, atmospheric pollution, and topographic changes. Understanding the relationship between the vegetation land cover and the AOD would favor the improvement of forest ecosystem services. This quantitative research integrated remote sensing and ground survey data and used spatial statistical methods to explore the drivers that influence the AOD of the exurban national forest park and analyze the differences between various forest types. The driver analysis was carried out in the hot (Z ≥ 1.64) and cold (Z ≤ −1.64) spots of AOD in 2010 and 2017. Our results showed that (1) the forest type was proved to be the main factor contributing to the AOD pattern and (2) from 2010 to 2017, the average growth rate of broad-leaved forest, coniferous forest, bamboo, and shrub in hot spots was significantly higher than that in cold spots, while there was no significant difference in the mixed forest. The average growth rate of biomass densities of bamboo, coniferous forest, and mixed forest were higher than that of the shrub and broad-leaved forest. These findings provided the guidance for the rational allocation of tree species to increase the biomass and improve the ecosystem service values of forest parks.

Sequential soil coring and in situ exposure of largely undisturbed soil columns technique was used to study the nitrogen mineralization of five forest types soils in the east side of Gaoligongshan mountains, which were Dry-Hot Vally (D), Montane Rain Forest (MR), Monsoon Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest (M), the Mid-Montane Humid Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest (H), Tsuga Forest (Ts). The results indicated that NH4+-N content decreased for all the forest types soil after four months training, the order of decrease proportion is monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest (84.1%)> montane rain forest (69.3%)> the mid-montane humid evergreen broad-leaved forest (34.7%)> dry-hot vally (8.7%)> tsuga forest (7.3%). And NO3--N content increased for the soils, the increasing multiples is tsuga forest (39.0 times)> dry-hot vally (18.8 times)> the mid-montane humid evergreen broad-leaved forest (4.7 times)> monsoon evergreen broadleaf forest (4.0 times) > montane rainforest (2.8 times). We conclude that NH4+-N is the main form of inorganic nitrogen in forest soil, which is the main reason of changing the soil nitrogen mineralization and mineralization rate.

The basement and much of the volume of the northern barrier reefs are Miocene in age. Formation of the ancestral northern barrier reefs was greatly affected by late Miocene crustal instability associated with formation of the Papuan Basin. Present physiographic features are primarily the product of Quaternary eustatic changes. Present morphologies of the deltaic and far northern dissected reefs are discussed in relation to what is known of the geological history of the area.

New sesmostratigraphic model has been established for the sedimentary cover of the North-Chukchi basin. Based on the model interpretation of the main paleogeographic events within the territory was performed. We identify three stage in the post-rift sedimentary history of the North-Chukchi basin: Late Cretacerous to Paleocene stage when strong progradation of shelf sedimentary packages was occurred, Mid Eocene — Miocene, with gradual infilling of the basin from different sides and Late Miocene to Present stage with present shapes of the shelf and slow clinoform complex aggradation.

Studies have shown that contact with nature plays a crucial role in the amelioration of human health. Forest therapy has recently received widespread attention as a novel and subsidiary treatment approach for stress recovery and health promotion. However, there is a lack of ample research on the comprehensive evaluation of the forest healthcare benefits. Moreover, it is not entirely clear what kind of forest types and seasons are suitable for forest therapy activities and how healthcare forests should be constructed and managed. From September 2019 to January 2020 and May to August 2020., five forest types of Phyllostachys edulis forest, subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest, Liquidambar formosana forest, Cunninghamia lanceolata forest, coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest and a forestless control group in Shimen National Forest Park, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China were selected. Variations in the character of negative air ion concentration, air oxygen content, human comfort index and phytoncide relative content were analyzed. Principal component analysis and systematic clustering were used to construct forest comprehensive healthcare index and evaluation grade in order to assess the healthcare benefits of different forest types. In terms of negative air ion concentration, the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest was far ahead of the other forest types throughout the year, while the forestless control group was the worst. All stands reached the annual maximum in summer, followed by spring, autumn and winter. From the perspective of air oxygen content, summer > spring > autumn > winter, among them, all forest stands clearly exceeded the normal atmospheric oxygen content (20.9%) in the first three quarters. Moreover, the air oxygen content of coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest was the highest in five forest types; the forestless control group was the lowest. Judging from the human comfort index, in the whole year, all forest types, including the forestless group, were at the comfortable level and above. However, the five forest types still differed greatly in diverse seasons, among which Phyllostachys edulis forest and subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest were superior to Liquidambar formosana forest, Cunninghamia lanceolata forest, coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest in spring and summer, while it was in reverse in autumn and winter. In view of the phytoncide relative content, the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest was the highest, followed by the Cunninghamia lanceolata forest. The relative content of phytoncide was released more in summer, second, by spring, autumn and winter. Furthermore, establishing forest comprehensive healthcare index (FCHI = 0.1NAICi + 0.35AOCi + 0.27HCIi + 0.28PRCi), according to the FCHI value, it was divided into five rating levels. Overall, the comprehensive healthcare index of the five forest stands distinctly outperformed the forestless control group in all seasons. In addition, the five forest types were at level I in spring and summer. From the comprehensive data of the whole year, the comprehensive healthcare index of the coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest was the best, followed by the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest. The forest environment has a favorable influence on the human body and mind, so it is suggested that citizens go to the forest environment regularly for healthcare and physical and mental washing. In terms of the forest healthcare benefits, the best seasons for forest therapy in Shimen National Forest Park are spring and summer; autumn is suitable as well. When planning and constructing the forest therapy bases in Shimen National Forest Park in the future, coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forests should be allocated more in the stand transformation to promote forest healthcare benefits. Protecting and developing the landscape resources of the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests should be paid close attention, as well as making rational use of their health activity space.
