This article presents the results of an experience of death education (DE) course with bibliodrama in Italian high schools, which focused on emotions and existential themes. The research analyzed the inability to recognize or describe one’s own emotions (alexithymia), fantasy-proneness, and attitudes toward death in two different groups of students: one who took a course on DE (with 113 students) and another who did not participate in it (with 114 students). The use of a mixed method allowed this study to explore the quantitative results that the students indicated in the questionnaire and the qualitative open answers to the final question about how they had profited from this DE course. The results showed that the course had a positive effect, as the DE group significantly decreased alexithymia and negative attitudes toward death, particularly in fear and avoidance of death, making their representation of death less traumatic.

It is noted that the legal support is the determining factor for improving the analyzed vector of activity. The necessity of an individual approach to the educational influence on convicts has been substantiated. It has been established that the creation of a normative act on the organization and conducting educational work with convicts will contribute to the coordination of the efforts of interested subjects, as well as to overcoming the negative attitudes of the convicts, will contribute to their desire for correction. These decisions will have a positive effect on the improvement of the current penal legislation.

Gomez and her colleagues have presented a helpful study of the relationship of the chaplains in her health system to physicians which highlights several barriers to a well-integrated relationship and thus to more optimal patient care. We have seen these same barriers as we have consulted with health systems nationally and have also identified many best practices that mediate or even eliminate many of these barriers. This commentary describes some of what we have seen as chaplain-generated causes of those barriers and effective strategies that have been employed to overcome them. We also provide some resources for chaplains who wish to institute some of these best practices themselves.

The COVID-19 outbreak has created an unprecedented challenge for governments to convey information to the public, and social media has become a critical method of COVID-19 communication in Taiwan. Objectives: This study examines a total of 1128 Facebook posts published by Taiwan’s principal health authority from December 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020. Methods: Using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study investigates strategies used by the Taiwan government to communicate the COVID-19 outbreak and public responses toward these strategies. Result: Novel uses of Facebook posts on outbreak communication were identified, including solidarity, reviews of actions, press conferences, and the use of animal and cartoon images. Quantitative results showed that the public responded significantly more frequently to messages generating positive affects, such as posts that reviewed government actions and public efforts; posts that expressed thanks, approval, or comradeship; and posts that paired text with photographs of frontline workers or cute animals. Conclusion: These results suggest that, amid a disease outbreak, the public not only look for updated situations and guidelines but also for affective affirmation from government agencies.

Introduction Cardiovascular disease (CVD) accounts for 25% to 45% of deaths among Arab people. The purpose of this review was to investigate the level, predictors, motivators, and barriers to adherence to lifestyle recommendations among Arab patients with CVD. Method A systematic search of the literature was conducted and reported using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. MEDLINE, EMCARE, CINAHL, Scopus, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched. Studies that explored adherence to a healthy lifestyle among Arab adult patients with CVD were included. Results Twelve studies were included. Quantitative results showed low adherence among Arab people with CVD. Qualitative synthesized results revealed that internal motivators, personal desire as well as structural drivers impact the patient’s ability to adhere to a healthy lifestyle. Discussion Multidimensional solutions that consider religion and culture and include active involvement of families are required to improve adherence.
