ArgumentMost social scientists today think of data sharing as an ethical imperative essential to making social science more transparent, verifiable, and replicable. But what moved the architects of some of the U.S.’s first university-based social scientific research institutions, the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research (ISR), and its spin-off, the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), to share their data? Relying primarily on archived records, unpublished personal papers, and oral histories, I show that Angus Campbell, Warren Miller, Philip Converse, and others understood sharing data not as an ethical imperative intrinsic to social science but as a useful means to the diverse ends of financial stability, scholarly and institutional autonomy, and epistemological reproduction. I conclude that data sharing must be evaluated not only on the basis of the scientific ideals its supporters affirm, but also on the professional objectives it serves.

The purpose of this research was to develop training package for intrapersonal intelligence development for the students of Educational Technology Department, School of Education, State University of Jakarta. The package was develop by employing Instructional Development Model. The research resulted in training package for intrapersonal intelligence development for the university students which is expected to be applicable or adjustable for trainings and the other universities for the similar purposes. A set of recommendation is given in using this package to be effective and efficient.

“We are committed to grow the skills and competence of men and women who are or soon will be at the center of making decisions associated with strategic and operational security matters in the public or private sector. Content of our 2-week courses will expose them to the next generation of security thinking and allow them to interact with and learn from colleagues of other agencies and organizations. It will take them to the next level of their careers both intellectually and professionally.” - Flyer for the National Security Studies Program, Maxwell School, Syracuse University

Undergraduates for a Better Education (UBE) is an official student organization at Syracuse University which grew out of an informal study group that started in the fall of 1986. The purpose of this article is not just to tell you about this organization but to exhort you to try a similar activity on your campus. Working for UBE provides students with the opportunity to develop skills and test theories about politics in a policy area that is very important to them. And even if you don't buy the proposal on pedagogical grounds, you certainly can appreciate the justness of UBE's cause —to pressure administrators and fellow faculty to give higher priority to teaching. However, you may want to think twice before embarking on this road especially if you are not a tenured full professor.A study group composed of seven students in my freshman course, PAF 101: Introduction to the Analysis of Public Policy, met in the fall of 1986 to discuss public policy issues. From this small number of students, a highly visible student organization emerged with representation from across the university. The organization has had an impact at Syracuse University and has held two national conferences attended by twenty different schools from across the United States. As its faculty advisor, I played a major role in its creation but at this time play a smaller role. (I talk or meet with officers about once a week and attend a meeting once a semester.) Michael K. O'Leary, a political science professor, has served in an advisory role on several projects. Other professors have offered private support but kept a public distance from the organization.

Project Advance is a cooperative program between Syracuse University and approximately eighty participating high schools in New York, Massachuseus, and Michigan. Project Advance allows high school seniors to take at a low cost university courses for university credit in their own school setting. The courses are taught by carefully selected high school faculty who attend workshops and seminars conducted each year by regular Syracuse University faculty. Cooperating secondary school faculty, on qualification, are designated as adjunct instructors of the university. The field courses are carefully monitored by regular university faculty to ensure equivalent standards in Project Advance courses and on-campus courses. On successful completion of Project Advance course work, students obtain university credit. The student can earn up to nine university credits.

IntroductionWomen's personal and political identities are significant in defining their roles and eventual contribution to society in contemporary society both in the private and public spheres.ObjectivesThis research study focuses on the effect of Islam on women's personal and political identities.AimsThis research aims to highlight the existing ideology relating to women's treatment in regards their identities and public roles, and hence to contribute to women's emancipation.MethodsThis study utilizes quantitative and qualitative methods in analysing women in eight Muslim-majority countries, namely, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen, Cyprus and Kuwait, in the Middle East. For the quantitative data, statistical dataset was culled from Inter-university consortium for political and social research of the university of Michigan.ResultsThe overall results show that historical constructions of gender spheres are still palpable in the Islamic landscape. Woman's question is identified as a complex personal and social problem, and cannot be rejected as a valid search for gender sameness or equality. This study also shows the interpolation of Islam with other factors such as patriarchy, modernization, and state formations. Some Muslim scholars argue that Quran's fundamental mooring is geared towards equality between men and women, and women's enhanced status, and it is patriarchy that has confined women to the domestic sphere.ConclusionGender is embedded within culture, and structures of power in families, communities, and states, which have gender in itself, as an organizing principle.Disclosure of interestThe author has not supplied his/her declaration of competing interest.

Kata kunci: Mobile learning, organisasi arsitektur komputer, research and development Android-based mobile learning development as a learning media for computer architecture organization AbstractOptimizing the use of smartphones in the learning process is still low. So it is very necessary to design a learning process by optimizing the use of smartphones. This study aims to design the learning process using a smartphone with an Android-based mobile learning system for Computer Architecture Organization courses in universities. The model used is the Instructional Development Institute (IDI) in the Research and Development (R&D) method. The results of this study indicate that mobile learning for computer architecture organization courses is valid to be used as a learning support media, in accordance with the results of the validity test conducted with media experts and material experts obtained from the Calculation of material validation namely validator 1 (0.91), validator 2 (0.95) and design validation, namely validator 1 (0.9), validator 2 (0.89), which is included in the valid category. The results of practicality tests on Android-based mobile learning media based on lecturer responses are at an average value of 92%, and based on student responses is at an average value of 87.61% which is included in the very practical category. For the effectiveness test that is tested on students, the results for the control class were 74.56% and experiments were 82.25%. So that the use of Android-based mobile learning is valid, practical and effective to be used in computer architecture organization courses at the University of Putera Indonesia YPTK Padang. Keywords: computer architecture organization, mobile learning, research and development
