We have developed a dismantling robot for ceiling boards. The system design of the dismantling robot actually includes a cooperative system between humans and robots. It has a hierarchical system of the independent robot. Indeed, we carried out the dismantlement of ceiling boards by a new method of cutting ceiling boards, and verified the effectiveness of the robot system.

The paper discusses a new method of obtaining local particle reinforcement in the composite discs. In this method, the liquid composite suspension is poured into a mould and then exposed to the alternating electromagnetic field. The Lorentz force acting on the liquid metal causes the reinforcement to move towards one or both surfaces of the manufactured disc. The paper presents the process theory, the methodology for the casting system design, and the results of an experimental manufacture of one-side and two-side reinforced composite discs made of aluminium alloy.

This study is aimed at exploring the problem of quantification of process modularity degree. Modularity as a system design principle is apprehended here as the extent to which processes can be decomposed into modules to be executed in parallel and/or in series. For this purpose, a new method is proposed to measure relative modularity of different assembly process structures. This method is compared with other relative modularity measures, namely singular value modularity index, degree of process module, and process module independence, in order to verify its effectiveness. For this purpose, selected representative types of assembly process structures are used. This testing proved that the proposed relative modularity indicator for manufacturing and/or assembly process structures reflects the expected system property in adequate way.

This article introduces a new method of system design using semi-active dampers named quasi-active damping. This technique is the design of dynamical systems and controllers using multiple semi-active dampers such that, at any instant, the desired control force can always be achieved using a combination of the dampers. The motivation is to produce levels of performance approaching those of active systems but with the energy consumption and stability of semi-active systems. The concept is demonstrated in simulation through the design of a stiffness-cancelling suspension system. It is also shown how the robustness of the system can be improved through the addition of a secondary, closed-loop, controller.

This paper proposes a new method of designing load balancing system. The design of the system is based on the performance of hosting service and the switching technology and makes use of the highly flexible programmability and the powerful function of processing network packet of IXP2400 network processor. This method greatly accelerates the processing speed of the system and owing to the advanced technology of network processor it makes the load-sharing system excellent in usability and practicality.

Work conditions and requirements of a container stacker are analyzed. Aiming at the disadvantages of hydrodynamic travel system of stacker, a design method for hydraulic chassis of a stacker is presented. With a practical example, its operation performances under the work conditions of stable travel in low-speed are analyzed. New method to design its travel drive system is presented, it contains the hydraulic system design and component selection. It is considered that the manufacture cost for special hydraulic chassis of a stacker is equal to or lower than that of a hydrodynamics chassis, so there is wide application prospect of it.
