Cladosporium phlei, which causes purple eyespot disease, has been focused on as a source of phleichrome from the perylenequinone group of pigments. Although this agent is important in photodynamic therapy, there are no genome sequences for the species. Here, we sequenced the genome of C. phlei and reported the draft sequence. The total length of the draft genome was approximately 31.8 Mb, and 9571 genes were predicted. Phylogenetic analysis showed that Cladosporium sphaerospermum, Rachicladosporium sp., and Rachicladosporium antarcticum were closely related, and this result corresponded to the taxonomic data. In addition to the draft genome sequence, we report four candidates of new polyketide synthase (PKS) genes, involved in the production of perylenequinone-group pigments.

Salmonellosis is an important health problem worldwide and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is one of the most common isolated serovars. Here, we reported the draft genomes of 40 S . Typhimurium strains isolated from humans and food in Brazil. These draft genomes will improve phylogenetic analysis and will help enhance our understanding of strains of this serovar isolated in Brazil.

ABSTRACT Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus sequence type 72 (ST72) is prevalent in South Korea and has shown resistance to multiple antimicrobials. ST72 isolates display different levels of resistance to the antistaphylococcal lysostaphin. Draft genome sequencing of ST72 human isolates exhibiting lysostaphin resistance or susceptibility was performed to better understand the mechanism of lysostaphin resistance using subtractive genomics.

ABSTRACT Penicillium marneffei is the most important thermal dimorphic, pathogenic fungus endemic in China and Southeast Asia and is particularly important in HIV-positive patients. We report the 28,887,485-bp draft genome sequence of P. marneffei , which contains its complete mitochondrial genome, sexual cycle genes, a high diversity of Mp1p homologues, and polyketide synthase genes.

Neonectria ditissima is the causal agent of apple canker. Here, we present the draft genome sequences of two isolates of N. ditissima that differ in virulence. Comparative genomics will enable pathogenicity determinants to be identified in this plant-pathogenic fungus.

Stemphylium lycopersici (Pleosporales) is a pathogenic fungus found on a broad range of plant hosts. It is one of the causal agents of gray leaf spot disease in tomato that causes severe yield reductions and economic losses worldwide.

ABSTRACT Three Pseudomonas sp. strains isolated from marine sponges have shown potential quorum sensing inhibition (QSI) activity. We sequenced the draft genomes of the three strains with the goal of determining which genes or gene cluster(s) could be potentially involved in the QSI activity. Average nucleotide identity (ANI) and phylogenetic analysis classified the three strains as belonging to the Pseudomonas fluorescens species.

Streptococcus agalactiae serotypes Ia and III were isolated from infected tilapia in cage and pond culture farms in Thailand during 2012 to 2014, in which pathogenicity analysis demonstrated that serotype III showed higher virulence than serotype Ia. Here, we report the draft genome sequencing of piscine S. agalactiae serotypes Ia and III.

Here, we report 12 draft genome sequences of mutant Mycolicibacterium smegmatis strains resistant to imidazo[1,2-b][1,2,4,5]tetrazines, which are antituberculosis drug candidates. We have identified 7 different mutations in the MSMEG_1380 gene, which encodes the AcrR/TetR_N transcriptional repressor, which may activate efflux-mediated resistance.
