E-commerce growth enforces the courier business to focus on developing a new business model decision. This paper aims to explore a suitable new business idea for courier business if the Data Analytics (DA) can be advantageous, using small courier company as a case study. The study investigates Logistics Service Provider (LSP) activities and the Gap Analysis and SWOT analysis were conducted to explore Data Analytics (DA) opportunity. Then, the alternative business models were pre-screened by the requirements of company, i.e. reasonable investment cost and the opportunity in using Data Analytics (DA). Ansoff Matrix is used to classify the alternative of new service idea into two segments; 1) offer development, i.e. Market development, and 2) New business development, i.e. Service development and Diversification. Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is used to select suitable business idea by weighted summation on five of Data Analytics (DA) accommodation criteria, i.e. company capability; the ability performs of demand; vision, strategy, and desire of executive, investment strategy and customer data opportunity. The business models that are mostly desirable are 1) Suppliers-Consignees recommendation, 2) Fulfillment service model and 3) Sourcing model. These three models were elaborated and discussed in the perspectives of company and customer. Additionally, this research proposes several challenges in Data Analytics (DA) related in logistics activity, key decision criteria and methods of idea selection implemented guidelines for logistics business practice.

The Big Data and Data Analytics is a brand new paradigm, for the integration of Internet Technology in the human and machine context. For the first time in the history of the human mankind we are able to transforming raw data that are massively produced by humans and machines in to knowledge and wisdom capable of supporting smart decision making, innovative services, new business models, innovation, and entrepreneurship. For the Web Science research, this is a new methodological and technological spectrum of advanced methods, frameworks and functionalities never experienced in the past. At the same moment communities out of web science need to realize the potential of this new paradigm with the support of new sound business models and a critical shift in the perception of decision making. In this short visioning article, the authors are analyzing the main aspects of Big Data and Data Analytics Research and they provide their own metaphor for the next years. A number of research directions are outlined as well as a new roadmap towards the evolution of Big Data to Smart Decisions and Cognitive Computing. The authors do hope that the readers would like to react and to propose their own value propositions for the domain initiating a scientific dialogue beyond self-fulfilled expectations.

Nowadays, manufacturing companies are pressured to be competitive and innovative. Particularly this concerns the delivery of value to their customers. The assessment of the overall value chain, designed and implemented for a specific product and/or service, should be sustained by new business models (NBM), thus contributing to higher levels of customer satisfaction. Integrated product-services are assuming importance, allowing manufacturing companies to achieve longer and stable relationships with their customers. This requires, among other, organizational changes and novel methodologies for product-service development. In fact, an effective integration allows product-service innovation, which being exploited, contributes significantly to businesses' competitiveness and sustainability. In this paper, a “roadmap” for NBM definition and implementation is presented, along with a new methodology for Product-Service Systems (PSS) development. Two case studies are used to test both the roadmap and the PSS methodology. As such, this work is expected to contribute to a clear understanding of NBM and their integration in a methodology for PSS.

The digital transformation is now a reality in Moldova, as Moldova has begun to transfer social, legal, and civil service delivery online. Sped-up digitalization can be expected to create new business models and opportunities for digital jumping in traditional industries. The Coronavirus crisis has highlighted the need for support and investments in digital transformation and effective digital governance, especially to guarantee the continuity and delivery of core government functions. The digital transformation is changing not just business models but the methods of production and distribution and the industry's competitiveness. Further analysis has been made to generate specific steps/recommendations regarding the digitization of the Moldova industry. The interview with experts who work closely in digitalization or competitiveness was done, and the SWOT analysis was done. Based on the research made, the recommendations for Moldova were prepared and presented in this article.

Text mining is an advanced technology utilized in business, marketing, biomedical sciences, education, and operations. Text mining offers a solution to many problems, drawing on techniques concerning information retrieval, natural language processing, information extraction, and knowledge management. Through text mining, information can be extracted to derive summaries for the words contained in the documents. Text mining has the potential to increase the research base available to business and society and to enable business to utilize the research base more effectively. Economic and societal benefits of text mining include cost savings, productivity gains, innovative new service development, new business models, and new medical treatments.


Collecting the data and being able to generate value from it: this is certainly the key success factor of tomorrow's champions, one that will allow you to innovate and create new business models. Faced with the 3Vs of big data, many companies are embarking on big data projects with the main objective: generating value. The goal is to succeed, by the detailed analysis of large amounts of data, to lift the veil and discover hitherto hidden models and barely perceptible correlations, as many new business opportunities that companies must grasp. The key to the success of any big data analytics initiative is to define your goals, identify specific business questions that a suitable technical architecture will need to answer, and use the data experts to generate value from data by using specific algorithms.

AbstractPlatform businesses allow for collaboration with nontraditional partners and bring together different categories of customers, in the financial context savers and investors or lenders and borrowers, creating large, scalable networks of users. Their entry into finance promises potential benefits to consumers in the form of new products, lower prices, wider choice, and enhanced consumer experience. At the same time, their new business models and technologies potentially threaten the dominant position of traditional financial services providers and create challenges for regulators. Platform businesses can use their preferential access to customer data to skim off high-quality loans, leaving only low-quality customers for other lenders. Their ability to offer complementary nonfinancial services that cannot be supplied by FinTech start-ups and banks can make it difficult or unattractive for customers to switch to alternative providers. This danger is especially acute when BigTech firms have monopoly power in other markets that complement financial services.

Eine Studie des Fraunhofer IPA analysiert, welche Herausforderungen bei der Umsetzung dieser Potenziale auftreten. Darauf aufbauend werden Entwicklungsfelder für die angewandte Forschung und produzierende Unternehmen erarbeitet.   Companies expect huge benefits from big data analytics both to improve traditional production targets and to develop new business models. A study conducted by Fraunhofer IPA analyzes the upcoming challenges in exploiting these opportunities. It provides the basis for identifying areas of development for applied research and for manufacturing companies.

Business in the field of fisheries faced a variety of obstacles, in order to maintain the continuity of their businesses demanding fish cultivating groups in Jampang village Bogor, be able to make various improvements and innovations in improving their performances. As a manifestation of Community Service, the purpose of this research was to help fish cultivating groups formulated new business models. The research data was primary data obtained directly from the results of interviews and Focus Group Discussions with members of the fish cultivating group. The analytical tool used was Business Model Canvass with nine elements and SWOT Analysis. This research was focused on creating new business models with the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach by looking at businesses through nine elements, namely: (1) Customer segmentation, (2) Value Propositions, (3) Channels, (4) Customer relationships, (5) Revenue streams, (6) Key Resources, (7) Key Activities, (8) Key Partnerships, and (9) Cost Structure. The results indicated that the business model that had been carried out by the Fish Cultivating Group found weaknesses in the nine elements of Business Model Canvas (BMC), therefore it was necessary to improve all elements

Tourism development is generally directed as a key sector to promote economic growth, increased local revenues, empowering the community's economy, expanding employment and business opportunities, and enhancing product introduction and marketing in order to improve the welfare of the community. The development of tourist areas must be a fully planned developments that optimal benefits can be obtained for the community. One approach that can be used in creating a business model in tourism development is using Triple Layered Business Model Canvas (TLBMC) extends the original business model canvas by adding two layers: an environment layer based on a life cycle perspective and a social layer based on a stakeholder perspective. This model canvas supports development along with more comprehensive and integrated communication, a business model that also supports creative innovation toward a more sustainable business model. Tourism sector in Punten village become object of observation in this research. This study aims to create new business model by looking at economic, environmental and social condition by using Triple Layered Business Model Canvas (TLBMC) approach. This business model is also supported by SWOT analysis in evaluating strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in a project or a speculation of business and tools that enable strategies to evaluate objective strategies objectively, based on previously identified internal and external key success factors. The research objectives are expected in the business development of the tourism sector in addition to the creation of new business models that will form a clear business system and provide expected results, can also formulate business strategies on the tourism sector based on the analysis that has been done.
