Abstract Background Gene Set Analysis (GSA) is arguably the method of choice for the functional interpretation of omics results. The following paper explores the popularity and the performance of all the GSA methodologies and software published during the 20 years since its inception. "Popularity" is estimated according to each paper's citation counts, while "performance" is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the validation strategies used by papers in the field, as well as the consolidated results from the existing benchmark studies. Results Regarding popularity, data is collected into an online open database ("GSARefDB") which allows browsing bibliographic and method-descriptive information from 503 GSA paper references; regarding performance, we introduce a repository of jupyter workflows and shiny apps for automated benchmarking of GSA methods (“GSA-BenchmarKING”). After comparing popularity versus performance, results show discrepancies between the most popular and the best performing GSA methods. Conclusions The above-mentioned results call our attention towards the nature of the tool selection procedures followed by researchers and raise doubts regarding the quality of the functional interpretation of biological datasets in current biomedical studies. Suggestions for the future of the functional interpretation field are made, including strategies for education and discussion of GSA tools, better validation and benchmarking practices, reproducibility, and functional re-analysis of previously reported data.

Quality management in the library is related to quality control of the library's work to meet user expectations and contributes to the continued success of the organization. However, quality control is lacking and not be the main focus in many libraries. This paper aims to explain how quality management improves work results in libraries. The research method used in this paper is qualitative research using a case study method. We conduct research in Library X that already underwent quality control in book processing activities. The data were collected through observation, and interviews for book processing activities and its quality control data during 2018-2020. The data was then analyzed document analysis. The study found that Library X could perform better by improving the quality of book processing and fixing the error just before they put the book on its shelves. Quality control gives a comprehensive evaluation in Library X either for humans, processes, and systems of book processing activities that help Library X conduct its duty to provide their user needs and expectations. Quality control and quality management also help Library X describe the library working atmosphere and can be used for giving motivation to all librarians and staff to give better service and performance for the end-users.

Two issues regarding the arousal-performance relationship in sport were addressed in this study: the relationship between task complexity, optimal arousal, and maximal performance, and the appropriateness of using various measures of performance. Data were collected from high school athletes (n=51) across four track and field meets. State anxiety was obtained prior to each performance and three performance measures were obtained (event results, and quality of performance evaluated by the athlete and by the coach). Results indicated that the three performance measures were not equally related to A-state, suggesting that the relationship between arousal and performance results in a different description depending upon the performance measure that is used. Furthermore, degree of task complexity could not be distinguished across various track and field events. When individual events were used to examine the arousal-performance/task complexity relationship, results revealed that level of A-state needed for maximal performance could not be differentiated for specific events, nor could it be determined for above average, average, or below average performances on any one event.

This article assesses the impact of transactional, relational, entrepreneur orientation on satisfaction and performance from the viewpoint of franchisee. The methodology includes an empirical study that was conducted in education franchising in Indonesia. The results show that the quality of relational relation is important in improving franchisee performance results. Meanwhile, entrepreneur orientation as a moderator variable gives an effect towards the improvement of franchisee performance. From the four indicators of entrepreneur orientation, in education franchise context in Indonesia, the most required indicator is the courage to take risks. This quality is required by franchisee in increasing franchisee performance because without courage to try new things and find creative ideas, franchisee performance will not improve. This article also discusses managerial implications, research limitation and future research.

Recruitment is an integral part of the management of an institution or organization. Recruitment positions are quite important, because the quality of recruitment influence the quality of the performance of institutions or organizations concerned in the future. Filippo in Justine T Sirait (2006: 56) defines recruitment as an employee or prospective withdrawal of labor and the employment search process is done carefully, so as to stimulate them to want to apply for certain positions offered by the organization. Recruitment is wise when before implementation is done plannings to meet the needs of the labor or employee in an organization, what is needed and how much is needed. Once detected all necessary further carrying out the process to get the purposes of labor or employees needed. After planning labor requirements. Subsequent process is the process of opening a job. Pramana (2005: 4) says that the process of opening a job based on their workforce planning needs really been analyzed and approved by the director. Filing review of manpower requirements can be distinguished according to their needs. Selection is the process for deciding the appropriate employee from a set of candidates obtained through the recruitment process, both internal and external recruitment. In principle, the selection regardless of whether the selection made for new employees, promotion, transfer, or others, and are associated with certain stages, such as: determination of the demands of the job and the company, the determination of the type of people required, determination of tools and steps / selection procedures, factors to be considered in the selection is a tool / selection procedure, and who is doing the implementation of selection (Hariandja 2007: 125-127). The part that is no less important than recruitment is the process regarding a contract extension subcontracted employees and probation employees. Pramana (2005: 10) says that this process must be preceded by a review / assessment of employees works to the extent that their ability to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the job. Keywords: Recruitment, Manpower Professional.

Abstract Gene set analysis (GSA) is one of the methods of choice for analyzing the results of current omics studies; however, it has been mainly developed to analyze mRNA (microarray, RNA-Seq) data. The following review includes an update regarding general methods and resources for GSA and then emphasizes GSA methods and tools for non-mRNA omics datasets, specifically genomic range data (ChIP-Seq, SNP and methylation) and ncRNA data (miRNAs, lncRNAs and others). In the end, the state of the GSA field for non-mRNA datasets is discussed, and some current challenges and trends are highlighted, especially the use of network approaches to face complexity issues.

Outsourcing is the strategic use of outside resources to perform activitiesthat are usually handled by internal staff and resources. The consequences of implementingoutsourcing strategies in an industrial setting were studied using a fieldstudy. This study was designed to explore both the financial as well as the humanaspects of outsourcing activities. The attitudinal results of this research indicatedthat the outsourcing strategies had a negative impact on the perceived quality ofwork-life dimensions. The performance results presented here provide, at best, circumspectsupport for the claims of outsourcing proponents that the technique improvesparticipants' performance and productivity. Although outsourcing can leadto certain gains for the organization, there are definitely human costs to be takeninto account, and they should be considered as major factors contributing to theoutsourcing debate, not just the financial aspects of organizations' decisions.

Purpose: To evaluate the visual acuity, defocus curve and visual quality of life following bilateral implantation of a new hybrid extended depth of focus (EDOF)-multifocal diffractive intraocular lens (IOL). Methods: Patients who underwent cataract surgery with bilateral implantation of Tecnis Synergy IOL were enrolled in this study. The main outcomes were defined as uncorrected distant, intermediate and near visual acuities (UDVA, UIVA and UNVA, respectively), defocus curve and VF-14 questionnaire aimed for visual performance. Results: The mean ± SD values for binocular UDVA, UIVA and UNVA were −0.01 ± 0.04, 0.05 ± 0.03 and 0.03 ± 0.05 logMAR, respectively. Defocus curve showed a continuous vision above 0.16 logMAR between +0.50 D and −2.50 D. Patients had good visual performance with mean VF-14 scores above 3 points. Driving at night (3.47 ± 0.64) was found to be the most difficult task to perform. Spectacle independence was 100% for both distant and near vision. Conclusion: Bilateral implantation of Tecnis Synergy IOL in cataract patients shows good visual acuity and performance, covering a good visual range without any need of spectacles.

Abstract. To this day, researchers are debating the adequacy of using financial incentives to bolster performance in work settings. Our goal was to contribute to current understanding by considering the moderating role of distributive justice in the relation between financial incentives, motivation, and performance. Based on self-determination theory, we hypothesized that when bonuses are fairly distributed, using financial incentives makes employees feel more competent and autonomous, which in turn fosters greater autonomous motivation and lower controlled motivation, and better work performance. Results from path analyses in three samples supported our hypotheses, suggesting that the effect of financial incentives is contextual, and that compensation plans using financial incentives and bonuses can be effective when properly managed.
