Since the 20th century, the deterioration of the ecological environment around the world has challenged urban space construction. With the development of urbanization, the consumption of resources and energy has increased, the level of biodiversity has decreased, environmental pollution is approaching the critical level, and the contradiction between human habitat activity and ecological environment has become increasingly prominent. The sustainable development of urban space along with its economic and social benefits, taking into account the quality of life and ecological environment, has become a new and important subject that needs to be explored. In this study, the indices of the evaluation system for sustainable urban spatial development in regions with underdeveloped economies but rich in ecological resources are arranged in sequence through the systematic coupling analysis of collaborative evaluation information and a quantitative analysis. The influences of urban space elements on sustainable urban development are disclosed. On the basis of the generated data, an evaluation system for sustainable urban spatial development with a complete set of information is proposed. The proposed system is applicable to urban spatial development evaluation in regions in China with underdeveloped economies but rich in ecological capital. First, the basic concept of system coupling is introduced, and a coupling relationship between urban sustainable development and urban space is proposed. Second, the elements of urban space and the sustainable development in the Qin-Ba mountain area are extracted, and the precedence diagram method is used to construct a sustainable evaluation system for urban space development in the Qin-Ba mountain area. Third, the sustainable evaluation process of urban spatial development is proposed. Finally, the sustainable evaluation system for urban spatial development in the Qin-Ba mountain area is applied to evaluate the urban spatial development in Shangluo, Qin-Ling Mountains, China. The results show that, among the investigated 14 indicators, the proportion of industrial land use mainly influences sustainable urban spatial development. As for the rest of the index factors, per capita green land area and green coverage ratio of built-up areas, per capita urban construction land area, proportion of forestry area, greening rate of built-up areas, total industrial dust emission density, proportion of cultivated area, and average volume fraction of residential areas are the secondary influencing factors of sustainable urban spatial development. The evaluation system in this research is constructed with the three aspects of “green coordination”, “green development”, and “green sustainability” of sustainable urban spatial development, and it complements the evaluation contents of urban–rural ecological space coordination, land resource protection, and green development community, and so on. The conclusion of this study not only can provide a useful reference for urban spatial development planning for underdeveloped ecological capital areas of China but also can provide a theoretical basis for the management and control policy of sustainable urban spatial development.

A novel four-dimensional energy, economic, and environmental (3E) under energy reduction constraints chaotic system is proposed. The acquisition of environmental quality data is the key to this paper. During the course of the study, we used Bayesian estimation algorithm to calibrate the environmental quality. Based on the official data, the Levenberg–Marquardt backpropagation neural network method was optimized by genetic algorithm to effectively identify the parameters in the 3E system. The research results show that although increasing energy reduction inputs can improve environmental quality, the effect on energy intensity and overall stability of the system is not obvious. When polluting input in the ecological environment system affects its maximum capacity, the environmental system collapses (i.e., the ecological system can no longer purify the environment through the self-circulation process and will eventually die out). Therefore, it is necessary to correctly grasp the ecological environment protection and the relationship between economic developments and explore synergies to promote ecological priorities and green development new ideas.

Because of the continuous deterioration of urban ecological environment and the increasingly scarcity of comfortable environment, amenity became the core goal of human residence and urban development. The study on environment amenity of Changchun in this paper was conducted from natural and social amenity. Data of different sources and scales were integrated and processed synthetically by taking GIS and RS as technical means. The results showed that the study area was in good station of the natural environment amenity and the areas with higher scores than the average level accounted for 47.79%; the social amenity of the study area was moderate and the areas with higher scores than the average level accounted for 39.85%; the general score of environment amenity was 0.461 and the areas with higher scores than the average level accounted for 38.33%.

Green development is an effective way to achieve economic growth and social development in a harmonious, sustainable, and efficient manner. Although the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) plays an important strategic role in China, our understanding of its spatiotemporal characteristics, as well as the multiple factors affecting its green development level (GDL), remains limited. This study used the entropy weight method (EWM) to analyze the temporal evolution and spatial differentiation characteristics of the GDL in the YREB from 2011 to 2019. Further, fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) was used to analyze the influence path of GDL. The results showed that the GDL of the YREB increased from 2015 to 2019, but the overall level was still not high, with high GDL mainly concentrated in the lower reaches. The GDL model changed from being environmentally driven and government supported in 2011 to being environmentally and economically driven since 2014. The core conditions for high GDL changed from economic development level (EDL) to scientific technological innovation level (STIL) and environmental regulation (ER). The path for improving GDL is as follows: In regions with high EDL, effective ER, moderate openness level (OL), and high STIL are the basis, supplemented by a reasonable urbanization scale (US). In areas with low EDL, reasonable industrial structure (IS) and STIL are the core conditions for development; further, EDL should be improved and effective ER and OL implemented. Alternatively, without considering changes to EDL, improvement can be achieved through reasonable OL and US or effective ER. This study provides a new method for exploring the path of GDL and a reference for governments to effectively adjust green development policies.

The Night Watchman written by Louis Erdrich won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. The core characters running through the novel are not only Thomas Wazhashk, but Patrice who bears the burden of narrating the natural world of the Turtle Mountain reserve. Louis Erdrich not only noticed the connection between females and nature with keen eyes, but also human and non-humans. The interaction among them reflects the author’s thoughts on the ecological environment, human survival, and indigenous tradition conflicted with modern appeal. Therefore, this article, using the Biocentric Equality of deep ecology, explores the Community Consciousness in the novel.

AbstractThe coastal marine automated observing station (CMAOS) is a facility built on the coast or island, collecting time series of ocean environment variables such as marine hydrological and meteorological parameters. This article introduces the general progress of CMAOS in China. The greatest demand for CMAOS is marine disaster forecasting and early warning to assist decision making and to protect the marine ecological environment. After more than half a century's efforts, China has established a network of CMAOS covering the coastal areas of China, which in real time acquires marine environmental information. The core of CMAOS is the marine automated observing system (MAOS), which integrates ocean sensors, a data collector, and a data reception processor. Currently, the MAOS is in its third generation of development and will follow the trend of unmanned, intelligent, and multifunctional systems. With the continuous implementation of relevant planning of an ocean observing network in China, the layout of CMAOS will be further optimized, the observed parameters will be more comprehensive, and the measuring means will be more abundant.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the reflection and recreation of the physical landscape in literary texts and in their translations; to explore in what ways nature is represented and, secondly, to discuss aspects of this process in the light of the translational norms proposed by Toury. The focus is the idea that language and culture, the core of literature, are to be transferred to other linguistic and cultural mediums during translation, and constitute the ecological environment of the text. This undertaking assigns to the translator the task of selecting, adapting and recreating this material in the foreign environment. An ecocritical approach will be adopted to explore how and how far this task is materialized by studying a Turkish author Yaşar Kemal’s novel Ortadirek translated as The Wind from the Plain. Yaşar Kemal is regarded as the most ecologically-minded author of Turkish literature and his novels portray nature as the mental landscapes of man, a force under which the constituents of the text are recreated at every linguistic and culture-bound effort of the author. Hence, the main endeavour of this study will be to bring to the surface, with an eco-critical approach, the translational preferences of the translator of Ortadirek and their significance in the recreation of Kemal’s ecological vision in the translation.

With the continuous rising of economic benefits and the increasing innovation of science and technology, the relationship between human beings and natural environment is becoming more and more prominent. Especially after the world enters into industrialization, human beings plunder resources recklessly and destroy the stable cycle of ecological environment. In recent years, China has put forward the development concept of "not only the golden and silver mountains, but also the lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”. The 13th Five-Year Plan of China has established five development concepts: innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing. The concept of "green" has been incorporated into the national strategic design, which highlights the harmonious development between human beings and nature, people and people. As the guider in the future, under the background of sustainable development, the green design takes innovation as the starting point, so as to become the permanent motive force of green development.
