In this article, the authors consider some aspects of teaching the Japanese language in an unnatural language environment, using the example of the philological faculty of Nizhny Novgorod State University. The article summarizes the experience of a native Japanese teacher, notes both the positive aspects (creating the conditions of the language environment) and the difficulties that participants in the educational process encounter (relevance of the content of educational materials; level of students' independence in learning). In addition, one of the authors notes the fact that the Japanese language teaching methodology shows tendencies towards the widespread use of IT technologies, as well as online educational platforms for the development, primarily, of students' communication skills.

The increasing numbers of newspaper reports on disappearing women from the north eastern state of Assam and especially from the economically backward areas of the state in recent years deserve close attention from both researchers' points of view as well as policy-level intervention of the larger community along with the government. This study makes an attempt to operate upon the menace area through the scalpel of game theory under the light of both primary and secondary data collected from the study area. It is an attempt to outline conscious human behaviour that leads to crimes such as women trafficking and identify the parameters controlling or affecting which types of crimes can be controlled. In order to do so, different distinct entities associated with the problem have been considered as different players leading to the concluding indication of prevailing flaws in the legal system of the country along with lack of employment opportunities and mass ignorance about the problem in hand among common people as the major reasons.

In the summer of 1967, when Nigeria's first federal constitution had been virtually shattered by two bloody military coups, and when it looked very likely that the Eastern Region might try to secede from the Federation, a military decree was promulgated dissolving the four former Regions, and replacing them by a new structure of 12 States (see Map I). In the following pages the largest of these will be considered, namely the North-Eastern State, in order to assess the prospects of its survival as an entity and of its economic development in the years to come.

The paper presents the development results of computer methods for analyzing text data and assessing classification inaccuracies at the stages of thematic modeling. This study uses as an example the task to process textual data of a collection of graduate qualification works prepared and defended by students of Altai State University, Faculty of Mathematics and IT in recent years. The main results obtained in the paper are listed as follows. Relevant application areas and directions for computer methods and thematic modeling in the educational process are identified. Justification of the general algorithm for solving the problem of the thematic analysis of collections of educational materials is carried out. Information technologies for thematic modeling are developed, and estimation of analysis errors on a set of test documents is obtained. It is shown that computer-based methods of thematic modeling and information technology to support them can be used both in the educational process and in the development of educational and methodological documents.

This article is devoted to results of field investigations at the fortress of ‘Godlik’ conducted by the Loo archaeological expedition of the Ural State University in 1992–1996. This fortress is part of the system of mediaeval defensive installations situated on the north-eastern coast of the Black Sea and is located near the modern urban settle- ment of Lazarevskoye in the city of Sochi. The fortress is a site highly complicated for investigations presenting the ruins of an old fortification where the cultural layer in the court of the fort is practically annihilated.

AbstractMuch microbiome research has focused on populations that are predominantly of European descent, and from narrow demographics that do not capture the socio-economic and lifestyle differences which impact human health. Here we examined the airway microbiomes of the Orang Asli, the indigenous peoples of Malaysia. A total of 130 participants were recruited from two sites in the north-eastern state of Terengganu in Peninsular Malaysia. Using 16S rRNA sequencing, the nasal microbiome was significantly more diverse in those aged 5–17 years compared to 50+ years (p = 0.023) and clustered by age (PERMANOVA analysis of the Bray–Curtis distance, p = 0.001). Hierarchical clustering of Bray–Curtis dissimilarity scores revealed six microbiome clusters. The largest cluster (n = 28; 35.4%) had a marked abundance of Corynebacterium. In the oral microbiomes Streptococcus, Neisseria and Haemophilus were dominant. Using conventional microbiology, high levels of Staphylococcus aureus carriage were observed, particularly in the 18–65 age group (n = 17/36; 47.2% 95% CI: 30.9–63.5). The highest carriage of pneumococci was in the <5 and 5 to 17 year olds, with 57.1% (4/7) and 49.2% (30/61), respectively. Sixteen pneumococcal serotypes were identified, the most common being the nonvaccine-type 23A (14.6%) and the vaccine-type 6B (9.8%). The prevalence of pneumococcal serotypes covered by pneumococcal conjugate vaccines support introduction into a Malaysian national immunisation schedule. In addition, the dominance of Corynebacterium in the airway microbiomes is intriguing given their role as a potentially protective commensal with respect to acute infection and respiratory health.

The Department of Geography, which trains specialists in geography at the Far Eastern State University, has passed a difficult path of its formation and development. The first geographical courses were developed at the beginning of the 20th century at the Oriental Institute at the Department of Ethnography and Geography, and at the Department of Politics, Legislation and Economic Order. In the 1920s, the disciplines of the geographical cycle at the Far Eastern State University were included in the curricula of the agricultural, technical and oriental faculties. Professor A.A. Polovinkin is the author of the widely known in the country textbooks on physical geography for secondary schools. From the first days of the creation of the Department of Physical Geography by Professor V.I. Lymarev in 1964, the teaching staff, along with the educational process, joined the complex geographical studies of the nature and features of the socio-economic development of the Far East regions. Expeditionary works were carried out in Chukotka, Kamchatka, on Sakhalin, Kuril and Shantar islands, in Primorye. The laboratory and analytical base was formed, the first results of geological and geomorphological interpretation of aerial photographs for the compilation of morphodynamic maps appeared. The works on landscape mapping of the areas of the active volcanism appeared. New author’s courses on physical and economic geography of the Far East and adjacent regions were developed. The considerable attention of the department was paid to the development of students’ research works. Their participation in annual expeditions to the remote and hard-to-reach areas, conducted under the guidance of teachers and staff, long-term educational and industrial practices, various types of lectures, seminars and extracurricular activities contributed to the formation of the professional qualities of graduated geographers. The connection of the educational process with the scientific research carried out by the department in the background of wide cooperation with academic institutions was the main peculiarity of students’ training.

The article highlights the problems of forming a digital educational environment on the example of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M. K. Ammosov (NEFU) and the ways to solve them at the NEFU Pedagogical Institute. The teacher education system is characterized by a special feature: when forming the teacher's personality, all levels of the education system should be involved: general, secondary professional and higher, with active interaction with students, employers and interested communities. The educational situation that arose as a result of the announced regime of self-isolation, activated the forced management decisions on the organization of the educational process in the remote mode. This article presents practical solutions to the organization of the educational process in the discipline of the information block of the educational program of pedagogical education through the use of an interactive educational platform. The necessity and timeliness of creating a digital educational environment is justified, as a condition together with the universities of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for their further transfer. The key characteristics of the digital educational environment and its significance for the training of future teachers and teachers of digital education are identified. A local digital educational environment has been developed for studying the discipline "Infocommunication Technologies" to ensure the educational process with the use of distance learning technology. The conclusions and assumptions of the upcoming systematic activity on the introduction of an online format in the implementation of educational programs in a standard educational situation may be of interest to teachers of higher school and secondary vocational education and heads of educational organizations.
