Introduction. The means and methods of computerized learning introduced into the education system in recent years are changing the attitude towards writing with a pen. Children are increasingly typing on a keyboard. This brings into focus research investigations aimed at identifying the possible influence of the above-mentioned type of educational activity on the indicators of psychomotor skills. The purpose of this research is to study accuracy and speed indicators of psychomotor coordination when working with hands in primary school students, depending on the amount of computer load (screen time). Materials and Methods. The study involved 4205 primary schoolchildren in grades 1-4 from 66 educational settings in Moscow (5 academic years, testing took place in October and March-April; all samples were independent). Indicators of psychomotor coordination (speed, accuracy, and smoothness of movements) when performing a motor test using "computer movement meter" (CMM) device were evaluated. The amount of lesson and out-of-school screen time was evaluated by teachers, relying on the hygiene standards: 0 points – no load, 1 point – compliance with hygiene standards, 2 points – twice exceeding the standards, 3 points – exceeding the standards by 3 or more times. Statistical data processing was performed using nonparametric criteria. Results. The research revealed the correlation between the total (lesson and out-of-school) screen time and indicators of psychomotor coordination in primary schoolchildren. The most obvious differences in psychomotor indices were found at the very beginning of school education – in October, in the 1st grade: in children with a minimum amount of computer load, the indicators of speed and accuracy were the worst. Speed indicators of psychomotor skills in groups of children (especially boys) with a high computer load have seasonal variability in the form of improvement by the end of the school year. Accurate indicators of psychomotor skills, on the contrary, with an increase in the amount of general computer load, lose variability and decrease. The smoothness of movements did not depend on the screen time. Conclusions. The identified changes in the psychomotor skills of primary school students who are active computer-users can be considered as a positive adaptive response in the form of developing new motor skills.

Background: The nutrition status of primary schoolchildren in Africa has received relatively little attention in comparison to that of younger children. We surveyed primary school students in Guinea-Bissau, a nation that is among the poorest in the world. Objective: Anthropometry and prevalence of anemia and vitamin A deficiency were assessed in schoolchildren participating in International Partnership for Human Development’s school feeding program in 2 regions of Guinea-Bissau. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 32 schools in the regions of Cacheu and Oio was conducted in November 2011. Variables included age, gender, weight, height, hemoglobin, and retinol-binding protein concentrations. Z scores for height for age (HAZ), body mass index for age (BAZ), and weight for age were calculated using World Health Organization reference data. Results: Anthropometric assessment of 4784 students revealed stunting (HAZ < −2) in 15.5%, thinness (BAZ < −2) in 13.2%, and anemia in 42.0%. Stunting, thinness, and anemia were significantly more common in males, in students from Oio, and in older students. Vitamin A deficiency, detected in 21.5% of the population, was the only assessment that did not demonstrate significant differences between genders or regions. About 61.1% of all children had 1 or more indicators of undernutrition. Conclusion: There are substantial rates of stunting, thinness, underweight, anemia, and vitamin A deficiency in primary schoolchildren in Guinea-Bissau, even among those participating in a school lunch program and particularly among males and older students. The results suggest the need for evaluating feeding programs and other methods to improve nutrition status in primary school students, especially in older students.

Statement of the problem. This article discusses the problem of universal learning skills (ULS) assessment among primary schoolchildren in the process of network interaction during computer science lesson activities. The research problem is determined by the requirements of the modern information society and becomes especially relevant in the context of the transition to distance learning in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The purpose of the article is to give scientific grounds and description of the assessment means for identifying the ULS formation level among primary schoolchildren at computer science lessons in the process of network interaction. The research methodology is based on the analysis and synthesis of regulatory documents on primary school education, research works of Russian and foreign scientists on the problem of digital socialization of generation Z and the organization of distance learning in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic; analysis of research in the field of networking; analysis of research in the field of ULS diagnostics among students. Research results. We described a method for communicative and regulatory ULS assessment formed among primary schoolchildren of the fourth grade at computer science lessons during the stage of network interaction using Google cloud services. The proposed method based on the level model of network interaction among primary school students was tested in Gymnasium No. 9 in Krasnoyarsk and School No. 11 in Abakan from 2016 to 2019. In total, the study covered 120 students over three years. Conclusion. As a result of our study, we have come to the conclusion that organization of network interaction based on distributed groups in space according to the level model contributes to the ULS formation of the basic and advanced levels that is confirmed by the results of their assessment. The materials presented in the article can be used by both elementary school teachers and subject teachers at the level of primary school education, as well as by methodologists and school administration to assess the ULS among students.

We discuss the development of the information culture of primary school students, in particular, one of the topical directions of this process is the development of ideas about information security. The substantiation of the importance of organizing work with younger school students is given, which implies instilling in them responsibility for achieving and maintaining the state of their own information security. We analyze the provisions that the personality development of younger school students in the information society should take place in the process of pedagogical support, including purposeful work to ensure information security. We describe the qualitative characteristics of the information culture of younger school students, reflecting the necessary indicators. Motivation of the person in this process, the role of expanding the new motive is shown. The examples of work on the development of the ideas of younger school students about the information security of the individual, which was used in the lessons of literary reading, envi-ronment, mathematics, are presented. Tasks are described aimed at generating the need to verify the information provided. The results are obtained in the course of an experimental study in schools in Moscow.

The study examines the theoretical aspects of the patriotic education of primary schoolchildren in the context of the use of information technologies, defines the meaning and functions of information technologies in the educational process of school education. The patriotic upbringing of primary school students is more than relevant, since the preservation and revival of cultural heritage begins with a small homeland (family, courtyard, school, etc.) and is a key moment in the upbringing of the modern generation. In order to study the level of patriotic education of primary school students, we conducted a survey of schoolchildren, the results of which showed: most of them have a low level of patriotic education, which is due to the lack of due attention of the state as a whole and educational institutions in particular to the issue of patriotic education of schoolchildren. Thus, the problem of patriotic education of primary schoolchildren in the context of digitalization of education has acquired new relevance in connection with new views on the quality of upbringing and education of the younger generation.
