The purpose of this research is to investigate and understand how students are using computer. The activities that a student undertakes with the help of computers which might be fulfilling some academic or non academic purpose, is of great interest. It will help in understanding the limitations and potentials offered by the technology for use of computer in classroom. This paper brings out the three major kinds of activities that students undertake with computer; self learning activities, Information collection tasks and communication and group activities. The study further analyses the effect of demographics i.e. gender, age and faculty (department) of students on the activities with computer. The results show that gender has no impact on the activities of students with computer. The age impacts only the activities related to Information collection by using computer where as the faculty of student significantly impacts all the activities viz. self learning activities, Information collection tasks and communication and group activities. The findings from this research can be used in designing future e-learning initiatives and development e-learning tools

The study at hand aims at identifying the argumentative writing skills among Arabic language teachers in online environments. The need for acceptance and the readiness of teachers to work independently in a digital environment is now especially great since students are familiar with electronic technology. Peculiarities of teaching the Arabic language require increased attention to learning writing and confident knowledge from teachers. Argumentative writing is important for teachers precisely in terms of its use to motivate students in e-learning and increase their engagement. Research paper points to the relationship between teachers’ writing skills and students’ advancement in writing when learning Arabic, especially as a foreign language. To achieve the purpose of the study, the descriptive method was applied. The sample of the study consisted of 120 teachers of UAE primary schools (40 male and 80 female), who were chosen randomly. The instrument of the study is a questionnaire divided into seven areas of argumentative writing. The study evaluates writing skills closely related to the effectiveness of presenting information to an online audience and in preparing e-learning programs. The results show that the argumentative writing skills in Arabic language teachers are moderate. There are statistically significant differences on the argumentative writing skills attributed to the gender variable in favor of the females. There are no statistically significant differences among the sample participants ascribed to qualification variable. Finally, there are statistically significant differences on argumentative writing skills ascribed to the experience variable, in favor of 10 years of experience or more. The authors also offered recommendations for the application of research results and for further research in this area.

This study focuses on the peculiarities that training courses mediated by technologies need to feature to positively affect the motivation and the building of metacognitive and didactic competences in teachers of foreign languages. What is especially highlighted is the fact that the advantages of these courses are closely related to the variables internal to the virtual environments that put the participants in control of their own learning process. With this in mind, two areas are taken into consideration, the constructive-interactional approach regarded as a model to design virtual learning environments on the one hand, and on the other the characteristics of e-learning tools and web-based tasks that help teachers acquire and refine metacognitive strategies, critical thinking and digital practices useful for their professional development.

This study investigates Arabic language teachers’ engagement with published educational research in Kuwait’s secondary schools. The study employs 170 participants across six educational regions in the country by using a quota sampling strategy. It used a questionnaire in eliciting their engagement with published educational research. The data were analysed by using simple percentage to describe the scenarios of their engagement with the published educational research. The results show that there is a lack of encouragement and support by their institutions in relation to teachers’ engagement with published educational research. It also indicates that the findings of the study do not relate to their practical teaching. This study recommends that there should be raising of awareness of the teachers on the importance of published educational research. Researchers should be cognizant of the needs of teachers and important roles that teachers could play in the implementation of the findings of the research. It also suggests the development of teachers’ capacity-building such as teachers’ research literacy. This could assist teachers to develop their reading and writing, as well as engaging with published educational research. Again, the study advocates the development of organisational cultures which could support teachers’ engagement with research. This might help in developing teachers’ professional development in relation to their engagement with published educational research.

With so many fields using new technologies in e-learning, we are all challenged with selecting and effectively implementing new Web 2.0 tools. This chapter provides a mixed method research approach to quickly evaluate available Web 2.0 tools and instructional implementation. Class observations and pilot study surveys were used to determine students’ levels of satisfaction after using various numbers of Web 2.0 tools and varying student work group sizes. The pilot studies were designed to model initial classroom examinations when integrating emerging Web 2.0 technologies. Use of this type of pilot study approach is necessitated as many individual class sizes are too small for a full research study, and the time needed to conduct a full study using multiple classes could cause the results to quickly be out of date, thus not providing the needed immediate classroom data for just in time learning. Fast emerging technologies pose a unique challenge to traditional research methodology. Where immediate specific classroom data is needed, a needs analysis with a pilot study is the best option. Note, with emerging technologies, it is difficult to find appropriate literature to determine its effectiveness in the classroom. If desired, compiling the results from many small pilot studies offers an additional benefit of fleshing out key issues to be examined later in greater detail using a full research study for extending theory or scientific practices.

The aim of the research is to identify the level of e-learning skills of Arabic language teachers in Baghdad (Zayona sector, as the main research sample included 30 teachers of both genders , and the researcher’s questionnaire, which consisted of 26 skills, is applied).and included a performance scale consist of three alternatives ( very available , available, slightly available ).After verifying its validity and reliability , the researcher applied it to the general sample of the research I found that only the first and second paragraphs represented the skills available to the research sample, where the specified cut-off degree exceeded (2), and the rest of the paragraphs are all not available to the research sample, as they did not exceed the specific cut-off degree and their value ranged between the third rank. Represented by the fifth paragraph with a weighted mean (1.96) and a weighted percentage (2.52) and between the last rank (the fifteenth rank) with a weighted mean (1.43) and a weighted percentage (1.83) and the remaining paragraphs ranged between them, each according to their arrangement according to what was mentioned in Table (3) The research attributed the emergence of these results to the poor readiness of the educational institution in Iraq to face emergencies and poor planning. The reason may be due to the poor academic preparation of Arabic language teachers. In mastering the use of modern technologies and e-learning requirements, the researcher recommended the need to prepare future strategies and plans to face the crises facing education in the future.
