Prior research on collaboration and creativity often assumes that individuals choose to collaborate to improve the quality of their output. Given the growing role of collaboration and autonomous teams in creative work, the validity of this assumption has important implications for organizations. We argue that in the presence of a collaboration credit premium—when the sum of fractional credit allocated to each collaborator exceeds 100%—individuals may choose to work together even when the project output is of low quality or when its prospects are diminished by collaborating. We test our argument on a sample of economists in academia using the norm of alphabetical ordering of authors’ surnames on academic articles as an instrument for selection into collaboration. This norm means that economists whose family name begins with a letter from the beginning of the alphabet receive systematically more credit for collaborative work than economists whose family name begins with a letter from the end of the alphabet. We show that, in the presence of a credit premium, individuals may choose to collaborate, even if this choice decreases output quality. Thus, collaboration can create a misalignment between the incentives of creative workers and the prospects of the project.

In 2008, the authors’ team started an ongoing project to administer music therapy sessions for patients with neurodegenerative diseases. Studies were made conducted from the “caring” perspective to evaluate the effects of music therapy on the mental health of the patients (Inomata, 2008a, Inomata 2008b) and on the role of nurses in integrative medicine (Inomata, 2008c). On the basis of the findings from these studies, music therapy programs were designed and conducted to meet the different needs of various neurodegenerative diseases. This project was the first ever reported music therapy initiative undertaken as a multi-disciplinary collaborative work and in partnership with a patients’ group (Saji, 2010). The findings from four years of running the project are summarized as follows: (1) Music therapy helped maintain/improve the QOL(Quality of Life) level of neurodegenerative disease patients, which would otherwise deteriorate with the progress of symptoms; (2) There was an improvement in the patients’ psychological and spiritual health as exemplified by the expansion of consciousness and rebuilding of relationships; (3) The project increased the feeling of partnership among the multi-disciplinary team members; (4) Care providers shared values such as self-belief and respect for both the self and others; (5) Caring for patients’ emotional side by being compassionate and staying with them and/or listening to them resulted in a stronger care provider-patient bond; (6) Nurses were engaged in the building a healing environment as “healers,” and the patients found more hope in everyday life.

Research and design of information systems in LIS has endeavoured to investigate human grouptasks and the role of creativity. The current study builds on the premise behind ComputerSupported Collaborative Work (CSCW), which is a design field aimed to facilitate group workthrough the application of computer technologies, driven by ever-changing contextual andenvironmental constraints. Using field observation, and a systematic quantification of the contentof group conversation, the study formulates a description of the creative work of musicians, andthe use of group management and affective dialogue during collaboration, with the goal ofinforming design. Results of the quantitative findings are presented with implications for futureresearch. **Awarded Best Practitioner Paper **

The process of education and teaching is one of the acts of Tri Dharma College. The success of the learning process can not be separated from the role of a lecturer. Quality of faculty plays an important role in a college that wants to achieve the goal of teaching and learning processes that produce graduates (output) quality. Lecturer rated quality if it has the value of a good performance, which is reviewed from several aspects. This paper proposes an analysis based on the evaluation of faculty performance feedback using fuzzy query the database for intelligent decision support system. The value of diverse faculty performance, so as to the criteria of each lecturer is still ambiguous and still need to be clarified. Here will be determined three criteria of assessment of faculty performance is lacking, just and good. Of the three criteria are later obtained a recommendation to make a decision. Model rules obtained is the value of students and professors taken the maximum value, then rules obtained from students and professors taken minimum value, in order to obtain the value of the performance of lecturers as well as the criteria. Then the value of this performance, it can be used by institutions as advice on making a decision relating to a lecturer.

Currently, in the process of transition of civilization in its development to the next technological order and a New industrial society of the second generation (NIS.2), the role of knowledge is growing in production; they are gradually becoming its prevailing and main factor. At the same time, knowledge cannot play the role of an independent factor of production. For their implementation in technologies and the manufactured product, the labor activity of a person with knowledge is necessary. In modern production, which is characterized by high knowledge intensity and continuous flow of innovations, such a person with the creative potential to apply knowledge becomes a key factor in production. The increasing role of knowledge and qualifications of production participants is interpreted in the mainstream of economic theory as the formation of human capital, investments in which provide returns in the form of increased income. However, there are serious reasons to doubt the scientific correctness of this approach. The return on creative work in the modern economy rather takes the form of intellectual rent. This rent is distributed between the employee and the hiring company on unequal grounds, determined by the specifics of the relations of wage labor and capital. Capital, to the extent that it is interested in retaining creative workers, can share with them a part of the intellectual rent received. But persons of creative work have not only economic interests, but also interests of a different nature – in self-realization, professional growth, social recognition, which also begins to be taken into account when stimulating their work. Ultimately, the modern evolution of creative work leads to development in the direction determined by the theory of noonomy.

The contemporary public administration faces new requirements caused by increasing role of the digital age. Future public administration practitioners need more advanced teaching tools as well as to improve the quality of teaching and learning methods figuring out predictable or unpredictable challenges. Social media have become commonplace and operate on a free service model; thus, it can be used in education to improve the interactivity of students and instructors such as online collaborative work, peer-to-peer instruction, and supporting participation. But it is commercially driven, and education isn't the main target. Thus, there are some serious issues of data privacy, confidence, and security. The instructors' attitudes are also important for using social media. Some instructors claim that social media improves student communication and motivation, whereas others claim that they may cause for the distraction from serious learning endeavors. This study aims to evaluate the academicians' attitude about social media using in public administration education at the university level in Turkey.

The online sources of the web, since years, are an extraordinarily important base of information and knowledge. Indeed, the web is one of the best access point to any type of information. For the users who want to share their knowledge, the wiki system is a powerful tool. Nevertheless, any system has its limits. The investigation on the contributions performance of individual contributors is yet unexplored because it is partly related to the design of wikis which is considered for collaborative work. Consequently, this has made the assessment and evaluation of individual contributions a hard task. In this research, we will attempt to emphasize the significance of distinguishing the relevant articles based on the opinions of contributors and their contributions. In this way, we will focus on the utilization of data mining using clusters analysis and k-means algorithm techniques.

The present paper assesses the “content” and “role” of intrinsic motivation during the creative production process. Based on semi-structured interviews with 16 light-entertainment television producers-directors in South Korea, it was observed that intrinsic motivation towards creative work included a desire to maintain enjoyment from such activities. Enjoyment was classified into two types: enjoyment based on job expectations and enjoyment based on the actualization of individual creative ambitions. Additionally, intrinsic motivation tended to provide a strong buffer against unfavourable working conditions that resulted from market principles (viewership ratings), economic stability, and work-life balance. Overall, the present results suggest that creative workers’ tendencies to endure various undesirable working conditions are based on a strong intrinsic motivation to maintain enjoyment from their career.

This article introduces Cognitive Health Counseling 40+ (CH.CO40+), an individualized intervention that is conceptually based on the orchestration model of quality-of-life management ( Martin & Kliegel, 2010 ) and aims at improving satisfaction with cognitive health in adults aged 40 years and older. We describe the theoretically deduced characteristics of CH.CO40+, its target group, its multifactorial nature, its individualization, the application of subjective and objective measures, the role of participants as agents of change, and the rationale for choosing participants’ satisfaction with their cognitive health as main outcome variable. A pilot phase with 15 middle-aged and six older adults suggests that CH.CO40+ attracts, and may be particularly suitable for, subjective memory complainers. Implications of the pilot data for the further development of the intervention are discussed.
