The idea and practice of separate waste collection is widespread in Europe as an effective way of building public awareness of environmental responsibility. The study covers activities on the most current environmental topics: sustainable development, municipal waste, recycling, composting. The project provides opportunities for cooperation and interaction between students in a team organisation of cognitive activity, the implementation of active student learning, and constructivist design of training, which will increase the practical orientation of the acquired knowledge and competences. The project aims at developing an innovative curriculum, curriculum content, methodological model, and didactic materials for the education of high school students and to increase their environmental competence in sustainable waste management at school and in their households. As a result of the training activities following Kolb's cycle, the participants in the study have changed their behaviour with the tendency to reduce the wastes amount and the use of disposable packages.

This research aimed to comparing the behavior of high school students concerning sustainable waste management behavior between vocational and public school students. Management behaviors include waste prevention, reuse, recycling, green purchasing and waste disposal. The analysis uses a multivariate of covariance (MANCOVA) that the data collected by questionnaire involving 347 high school students in Tulungagung Regency. The findings presented here based on Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), from both types of schools it shows that threat appraisal has a significantly more influence on student’s participation in Sustainable Waste Management Behaviors (SWMBs) than Coping appraisal in the level of significance 5%. Furthermore, it is also revealed that there are significant differentiation (p<0,05) SWMBs between the students of SMK 3 Boyolangu and SMA 1 Tulungagung. In order for students to understand the value of action and know which actions will mitigate waste effects, awareness must be provided to different forms of sustainable action strategies and the severity of waste disposal issues.

The article is devoted to the role of increase of junior schoolchildren’s cognitive activity as an important condition for the development of cognitive abilities of  learners.  Psycho-pedagogical  support  should  be  focused  on  the  development of cognitive functions of junior schoolchildren, and psychologists and parents should be involved in this process, as well as the teachers. Traditionally, psycho-pedagogical support at primary school focuses on the child's adaptation to the new educational environment.  We  consider  that  a  child  needs  the  same  support  in  the  process of mastering  the  curriculum.  There  is  no  true  support  without  an  emotional involvement and empathy, and as a result cognitive activity of a child might suffer greatly. It was proven by empirical results obtained in an ordinary school, where no innovative teaching methods are used. At the end of primary school pupils have a significantly reduced motivation, teachers express no serious interest in problems of junior high school students. Not entirely satisfactory educational environment also could not provide a positive influence on the development of cognitive sphere.

The article substantiates the expediency of using narratives about technical phenomena in mechanical transmissions in the profile education of high school students as a means of forming technical literacy. Based on the methodology of the activity approach and the narrative way of interpreting technical knowledge, it was found that the operation of semantic information of technical content is the main condition for its perception and understanding by students. It was found that the stimulation of meaning making contributes to the activation of the humanitarian potential of technical knowledge. To master the knowledge of technical phenomena by high school students, it is necessary to choose the subject of interpretation, to include it in specific story lines. Having understood the explanation of the plot lines, students will realize the value-semantic aspects and study a fragment of the modern technosphere. It is established that the narrative explanation of technical phenomena in mechanical transmissions as the main elements of drives of working machines is organically intertwined in the context of the cultural concept of technological education of schoolchildren. The main learning outcomes of students will include experience of cognitive activity, experience of reproductive activity, experience of creative activity, experience of emotional and value relations. Emotional-value relations are acquired using reflection. The attitude of students to the object of knowledge is one of the main conditions for the transformation of technical knowledge into beliefs, which serve as a guide in the perception of the phenomena of the technosphere and contribute to the solution of technical problems. Technical ideas, beliefs and values will form the basis of technical literacy of high school students.

Indonesia is a disaster-prone country but public awareness of disasters is still low. To improve community disaster literacy, schools are the most effective vehicle. Improved disaster mitigation literacy can be achieved by integrating disaster education into subjects taught in school and associating it with the local wisdom owned by the community. This research aimed to determine and learn from the local wisdom of lamban langgakh (stilt houses), develop a disaster mitigation literacy model for subjects in schools, and identify the level of disaster mitigation literacy of junior and senior high school students in the West Coast District (WCR) of Lampung Province. The study was conducted in two stages: identifying and analyzing comprehensive information about lamban langgakh and developing an indirect teaching model as a students’ disaster mitigation literacy model through the ADDIE development model. This research produced a new model to improve students’ disaster mitigation literacy by integrating it with school subjects and local wisdom owned by local communities.

Environmental degradation is a major challenge which requires appropriate strategies to reverse the situation. One of such strategies is experiential environmental education among high school students who, through change of attitudes and behavior, are able to participate in various environmental management activities. In this study the pro-environmental attitudes and behavior of high school students in Murang’a County, Kenya were examined to assess how environmental education programmes among the students affected environmental issues of waste management, water resources management, natural resources management and climate change in the schools. Nine hundred and sixty-one (961) students from nineteen (19) high schools from two sub-counties in the County was used in the study. The Likert type questionnaire and the 2-MEV Scale were used to collect the required data. The t-test statistic was applied to determine any differences between the variables. Results showed significant differences in pro-environmental attitudes and behavior with regard to solid waste management, water resources management, natural resources management. There were significant differences with regard to solid waste management, natural resources management, climate change and environmental concerns between members of Environmental Clubs and non-members. Pro-environmental attitudes and behavior were influenced by current membership of the Clubs rather than past membership. It is concluded that experiential environmental programmes improve the student’s pro-environmental attitudes and behavior hence environmental management within the schools. It is recommended that appropriate policies be formulated to enhance the implementation of school experiential environmental programmes to ensure capacity building of the learners to effectively manage environmental issues in the schools.
