Students´ motivation to select a study program is an important factor that influences the professional development of student teachers. The exploratory study intended to clarify whether different study choice motivation profiles can be distinguished for PE students and how these profiles can be characterized. The analysis is based on 816 German PE students from 12 universities. The identification of different profiles was carried out by means of latent profile analysis. Among the PE students who were examined, four profiles can be identified concerning the motivation for the selection of a teacher education. The findings differ from most non subject-specific findings, mainly in the number of identified profiles. Further studies need to address whether this finding is subject-specific by comparing different subjects. Furthermore, it is necessary to examine the relevance of the identified profiles with respect to the development of competence of PE students

PurposeAlthough one of the central premises of authentic leadership theory is that authentic leaders mobilize their followers, the underlying motivational mechanisms of this process remain poorly understood. Drawing on self-determination theory, this study aims to fill that gap by examining authentic leadership practices (ALP) as theoretical antecedents of employees' motivation profiles.Design/methodology/approachLatent profile analyses conducted on a sample of 501 employees revealed four profiles: self-determined, unmotivated, highly motivated and moderately motivated.FindingsALP were associated with a higher likelihood of membership into the most adaptive motivation profiles. Employees in these profiles displayed more optimal job functioning: higher organizational commitment and performance, and lower intentions to leave their organization.Originality/valueThese findings underscore the predictive power of autonomous motivation for employee functioning and provide new insights into how ALP can improve work motivation, and hence job functioning. Our results account not only for how ALP affects the complete range of behavioral regulations at work but also the different patterns in which these regulations combine within employees.

Berdasar wawancara mendalam, diperoleh kesimpulan mengenai kesulitan penyusunan RPP antara lain pada aspek: sintaks, metode, dan model, kemudian muncul permasalahan yang esensi yaitu sejauh mana etnomatematika muncul dalam RPP.Case study of student problems in the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program in compiling an ethnomathematical lesson plan based on the Yogyakarta Palace AbstractThe Lesson Plan has a strategic function as a guide in the implementation of learning. The development of lesson plans to improve the quality of learning is mostly carried out based on learning models, strategies, media, materials, and philosophies. Ethnomathematics is still new, so the development of ethnomathematics-based lesson plans that serve to introduce and encourage cultural awareness is still not widely practiced. This research wants to reveal, what students experience problems and difficulties in preparing ethnomathematics-based lesson plans, and how the characteristics of lesson plans relate to ethnomathematics. This study uses a case study with respondents consisting of 10 Elementary School Teacher Education students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta who provide in-depth information about the difficulties they are experiencing. Based on in-depth interviews, conclusions were obtained about the difficulties in preparing a lesson plan, among others, in the aspects: syntax, methods, and models, then the essential problem arises, namely the extent to which ethnomathematics appear in the lesson plan.

This paper describes a research project focused on identifying student-teachers’ critical thinking performance levels in scientific reasoning and, secondly, on analyzing the reliability level of the Critical Thinking Tasks test (CTT). As part of the methodology, a non-probabilistic sample of 129 teacher education students from different majors at Bio-Bio University was considered, and the Critical Thinking Task test was applied to collect data. The data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, reliability measures and mean score differences. The data showed that the instrument is reliable (α=0,79); there is also a relatively low performance in the global test and its dimensions; and there are differences between the different teacher education programs. It is concluded that the instrument is reliable, and findings support the idea that knowledge-based areas influence critical thinking. Finally, it is necessary to strengthen specific sub-skills to enhance critical thinking as a contribution for scientific reasoning.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made various changes in all aspects of life, such as economy, social, politics, lifestyle and education. This can be seen from the government urging the public to limit their activities and enforce self-isolation so as to encourage increased access to technology. Technology has become a very important role and is needed in the current situation because the government urges to reduce social activities. Likewise in the field of education, with the Covid-19 pandemic, all learning processes at all education levels are conducted online. This is the basis for the findings of several previous studies related to the emergence of several new terms used by the government and socialized to the public related to pandemics. From those several previous studies, the researchers saw that there was no research related to the level of public understanding of new terms that appeared during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study aims to determine the level of student understanding of new terms that emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a survey method for students at University of Dehasen Bengkulu using a questionnaire. From the research result, it can be concluded that most students at University of Dehasen Bengkulu, specifically Physical Education Study Program do not know the new terms. This is because many of Physical Education students are in remote areas which are very affected by the weather and electricity, so accessing information on TV and the internet often faces obstacles.

Abstract Introduction. TIn a situation characterized by a low birth rate and a highly competitive education market, increasing attention is currently being paid not only to students' level of education, but also to their competencies and predisposition. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to analyze differences in morphological features among physical education students as compared with students of other subjects at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (WWFiS) in Biała Podlaska. Material and methods. This study is based on anthropometric data from 165 first-year female students at WWFiS in Biała Podlaska. Analysis was conducted on a selection of students divided into groups based on their study profile. Using the technique developed by Martin and Saller, measurements were taken of the anthropometric features required to determine BMI and WHR indexes and to estimate body tissue composition. The following were used to characterize the collected variables: sample size (n) arithmetic mean ( ) and standard deviation (SD). Differences among the groups with regard to the features being measured were assessed using ANOVA variation analysis and NIR testing. Results. The study did not confirm reports from other authors concerning analysis of connections between bodily structure and education profile. Thus, it should be concluded that a student's physique plays only a small role in their being selected to study physical education. Conclusions. The differences noted between the groups should rather be interpreted as owing to environmental differences in the lifestyles of the girls in question, rather than to recruitment procedures and, by extension, education profile.

This paper presents a framework of a PhD research of the first author about a comparative study of pre-service elementary teachers’ knowledge of rational numbers between Indonesia and Denmark. To obtain the data, the authors design a series of hypothetical teacher tasks (HTTs), inspired by a paper of Durand-Guerrier, Winsløw, and Yoshida (2010). Subjects in this research are pre-service elementary teachers from a selection of different University Colleges in Denmark and from the elementary school teacher education study program, Riau University, in Indonesia. The praxeological reference models and the levels of didactic codetermination are used as tools to analyse the result.
