O presente artigo objetivou analisar como o povo Jenipapo Kanindé, da Terra Indígena (TI) Lagoa da Encantada (Aquiraz, Ceará), compreende a Educação Ambiental (EA). Para tanto, foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com membros-chave da comunidade e escolhida a escola local como ambiente favorável à EA crítica. Adotou-se uma adaptação das “Fases de Planejamento e Gestão Ambiental” estabelecidas por Rodriguez e Silva (2013) como percurso metodológico e a divisão da EA definida por Layrargues e Lima (2014) para categorizar as respostas dos entrevistados. Percebeu-se que a etnia possui uma visão não crítica da EA, desde sua conceituação até suas possibilidades de atuação no combate aos problemas existentes na TI. Por fim, estabeleceram-se proposições em EA crítica, com foco na educação indígena diferenciada que é promovida na escola local. Para tanto, fueron realizadas entrevistas semiestructuradas con integrantes clave de la comunidad y definida la escuela local como ambiente favorable a la EA crítica. Fueron adoptadas y adaptadas las “Fases de Planeamiento y Gestión Ambiental” establecidas por Rodriguez y Silva (2013) como recorrido metodológico y la división de la EA definida por Layrargues y Lima (2014) para categorizar las respuestas de los entrevistados. Fue constatado que la etnia tiene una visión no crítica de la EA, desde su conceptuación hacia sus posibilidades de actuación en el combate a los líos existentes en la TI. Al final, son hechas propuestas en EA crítica, mirando la educación indígena diferenciada que es promovida en la escuela local. The present paper aimed to analyze how the Jenipapo Kanindé people of the Indian Land (IL) Lagoa Encantada (Aquiraz, Ceará) understands Environmental Education (EE). To do so, semi-structured interviews were applied to key members of the community and a local school was chosen as a place favorable to critical EE. An adaptation of “Phases of Environmental Planning and Management” by Rodriguez and Silva (2013) and the classification of EE defined as in Layrargues and Lima (2014) were adopted as a methodological pipeline and to categorize the respondents’ answers, respectively. It was realized that the ethnic group has a non-critical perception of EE, starting from its conceptualization to taking possible measures to fight against the ongoing problems in the IL. Finally, purposes of critical EE focused on the differential education of the indian people promoted in the local school were established.

<p>Extreme event attribution (EEA) proposes scientific diagnostics on whether and how a specific weather event is (or is not) different in the actual world from what it could have been in a world without climate change. This branch of climate science has developed to the point where European institutions are preparing the ground for an operational attribution service. In this context, the goal of this article is to explore a panorama of scientist perspectives on their motivations to undertake EEA studies. To do so, we rely on qualitative semi-structured interviews of climate scientists involved in EEA, on peer-reviewed social and climate literature discussing the usefulness of EEA, and on reports from the EUCLEIA project (European Climate and Weather Events: Interpretation and Attribution), which investigated the possibility of building an EEA service. We propose a classification of EEA’s potential uses and users and discuss each of them. We find that, first, there is a plurality of motivations and that individual scientists disagree on which one is most useful. Second, there is a lack of solid, empirical evidence to back up any of these motivations.</p>

Sustainable development, biodiversity and landscape diversity should be a key component in nature oriented curricula. The Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University in Bratislava trains specialists in natural and environmental science in Master's degree, in particular in the context of the curricula “Environmental Planning and Management” and “Landscape Protection and Land Use”. The aim of the analysis was to assess the compulsory and elective study subjects of the curricula in question in terms of coverage of themes of sustainable development (SD). The curricula structure and content were analysed on the basis of 14 themes. The results showed that 20 out of the 41 study subjects cover more than 50% of SD themes. The other subjects, more narrowly focused, are also of importance, because they cover key themes such as biodiversity in detail. Graduates’ preparedness for practice and competencies should be sufficient, but it would be appropriate to also focus on the themes in the study subjects in terms of SD indicators.

In 1959, the Accounting Principles Board (APB) replaced the Committee on Accounting Procedure because the latter was unable to deal forthrightly with a series of important issues. But during the APB's first half-dozen years, its record of achievement was no more impressive than its predecessor's. The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Manuel F. Cohen, criticized the APB's slow pace and unwillingness to tackle difficult issues. This article discusses the circumstances attending the SEC's issuance of an Accounting Series Release in late 1965 to demonstrate forcefully to the APB that, when it is unable to carry out its responsibility to “narrow the areas of difference” in accounting practice, the SEC is prepared to step in and do so itself. In this sense, the article deals with the tensions between the private and public sectors in the establishment of accounting principles in the U.S. during the mid-1960s. The article makes extensive use of primary resource materials in the author's personal archive, which have not been used previously in published work.

ABSTRACTThe main purpose of this article is twofold: (1) an examination of welfare regimes using a bottom-up approach, which enables a comprehensive analysis of welfare production based on recipients perceptions; and (2) an examination of more than one type of welfare-mix coexisting inside the national level across policy sectors. A classification of welfare regimes is carried out following a bottom-up approach and relying on the basis of the importance of welfare providers to satisfy social risks and promote well-being. Three traditional (e.g. state, market, family) and one alternative welfare providers (e.g. community) are considered. Data is collected through twenty semi-structured interviews in seven marginalised communities of Puerto Rico. The results show five configurations of intra-national welfare-mixes across the following welfare areas: housing, nourishment, health, education, maternity/paternity, disability, work-unemployment and older-age. This paper contributes to the theoretical proposals of intra-national welfare regimes, and alternatives providers in the welfare-mix.

BackgroundFamily practice aims to recognize the health problems and needs expressed by the person rather than only focusing on the disease. Documenting person-related information will facilitate both the understanding and delivery of person-focused care.AimTo explore if the patients’ ideas, concerns and expectations (ICE) behind the reason for encounter (RFE) can be coded with the International Classification of Primary Care, version 2 (ICPC-2) and what kinds of codes are missing to be able to do so.MethodsIn total, 613 consultations were observed, and patients’ expressions of ICE were narratively recorded. These descriptions were consequently translated to ICPC codes by two researchers. Descriptions that could not be translated were qualitatively analysed in order to identify gaps in ICPC-2.ResultsIn all, 613 consultations yielded 672 ICE expressions. Within the 123 that could not be coded with ICPC-2, eight categories could be defined: concern about the duration/time frame; concern about the evolution/severity; concern of being contagious or a danger to others; patient has no concern, but others do; expects a confirmation of something; expects a solution for the symptoms without specification of what it should be; expects a specific procedure; and expects that something is not done.DiscussionAlthough many ICE can be registered with ICPC-2, adding eight new categories would capture almost all ICE.

Since 2011, 5.6 million people have fled Syria due to ongoing conflict. In Turkey alone, 3.6 million Syrians are confronted with a series of constraints once in the host country. This paper analyses, within the context of urban exile in Turkey, the different experiences and survival strategies of Syrians who are modulated by particular relations of race, class and gender. It aims to explain how refugees manage to create their own visibility in this new space full of limitations, and further explores how their newfound participation in these urban areas can deconstruct dominant representations of refugees, who are otherwise seen as threats or as voiceless victims. In all, this paper aims to go beyond the vulnerability of refugees, without neglecting the violence they endure. To do so, the study was conducted using a series of semi-structured interviews, complemented by an ethnological approach. oach.

The differentiation of local products is considered as a necessity nowadays given the standardization flows are increasing. This differentiation can be established especially through the Distinctive Signs of Origin and Quality (DSOQ). Our work has shown through the example of the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) Argane, that GIs are a relevant tool for the differentiation of local products if they (GIs) are placed in a favorable context to their application. Our paper answers the following question: "To what extent geographical indications are meant as an effective tool for differentiation of local products: case of the PGI Argane in the city of Agadir and regions? To do so, we used an exploratory qualitative study through semi-structured interviews with a sample of people representing different stakeholders of Agadir and its regions, preceded of course by a literature review on the different key concepts.
