Purpose –Authors argue that there is an interesting phenomena of visitors’ participation in Memorable Tourism Experience (MTE) specially in festival. It seems that the festival can significantly give more opportunity for the visitors to participate in MTE. Pine and Gilmore (1998) argued that participation enriches the visitors’ experience. Moreover, Barnes et al. (2016) suggested that long term remembered experiences have the strongest impact on revisit intentions. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of participation in creating memorable tourism experience in Cap Go Meh festival and Linggarjati festival in order to create loyal visitor.Design/methodology/approach – The methodology started with instrument development. The items were developed by referring the works of Crompton and McKay’s (1997). They proposed six dimension of visitors’ motives to visit festival. Apart from that, we did some observation and interviews both practitioners and academicians to enrich the instrument. The refining process commenced with the pilot test to test of the items. This procedure was to ensure the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. Pilot test conducted on 30 marketing undergraduate students at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, Indonesia. Then, authors conducted a review of the result. The word sequence was changed as a result of the input of the respondents on the pilot test of the initial questionnaire. The self-complete questionnaire was designed for both of Cap Go Meh and Linggarjati festival. Authors used a questionnaire instrument consisting of 42 questions on 5-point Likert-type scales of one to five range (1 = strongly disagree up to 5= strongly agree). Respondents were asked to rate their level of agreement/disagreement at that range. Data were gained by giving a questionnaire to festival visitor after the events.Conceptual development – Authors argue, from the previous studies, that there is still the gap towards the role of participation in memorable tourism experience remain. Authors proposed a conceptual framework that represents the relationships between motives, experience, memory vividness, and loyalty. To test the model, data were collected from direct surveys completed by 207 attendees of Cap Go Meh festival and 160 visitors of Linggarjati festival. This study employed Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) consist of analysing measurement model using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and analysing structural model using regression analysis.Findings – Visitors have different motives to attend and take a part in festival. In Cap Go Meh festival, group socializationhas a positive effect on participation, which lead to immersion, then influences vivid memory and loyalty. While in Linggarjati festival, novelty has a positive effect on participation, which lead to immersion, then influences vivid memory and loyalty.Practical implications – Findings suggested that the importance of engagement toward visitor’s experience (participation and immersion) in festival in order to create vivid memory and loyalty. The present findings would be particular interest to Linggarjati and Cap Go Meh festival as a cultural festival. Event manager should notice how important of the role of participation to fill their motive’s attending to immerse in festival and to create vivid memory and loyalty. Another practical implication of our study is the benefit of event manager to understand the characteristic of each visitor towards festival. Cap Go Meh festival can be higher in group socialization. Event manager should facilitate visitors to participate as a group on God Statue parade. Whereas in Linggarjati festival, visitors gain the novelty of historical site and city history merge with the stage of angklung -traditional music instrument- colossal.Originality/value – The study is a pioneer in analysing the role of participation in Memorable Tourism Experience.

Background: There is growing interest in the use of a Palliative care approach in Intensive care. However, it tends to remain inconsistent, infrequent or non-existent, as does its acceptance by intensive care physicians. This study sought to explore the perceptions, level of knowledge, perceived barriers, and practices of physicians regarding palliative care practices (PC) in Intensive Care Units (ICU). Methods: Descriptive-correlational study. Participating physicians working in ICU in Colombia (n = 101) completed an ad hoc questionnaire that included subscales of perceptions, knowledge, perceived barriers, and PC practices in ICU. A Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was used to examine the reciprocal relationships between the measured variables and those that could predict interaction practices between the 2 specialties. Results: First, results from the measurement model to examine the validity and reliability of the latent variables found (PC training, favorable perceptions about PC, institutional barriers, and ICU-PC interaction practices) and their indicators were obtained. Second, the structural model found that, a greater number of hours of PC training, a favorable perception of PC and a lower perception of institutional barriers are related to greater interaction between PC and ICU, particularly when emotional or family problems are detected. Conclusions: PC-ICU interactions are influenced by training, a positive perception of PC and less perceived institutional barriers. An integrated ICU-PC model that strengthens the PC training of those who work in ICU and provides clearer guidelines for interaction practices, may help overcome perceived barriers and improve the perception of the potential impact of PC.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine whether satisfaction of employers with skill competencies of fresh engineering graduates (EGs) in India is impacted by their expectations and perceptions. Applying Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT), the authors have also proposed and tested whether such effects on employers’ satisfaction are mediated by (dis)confirmation. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected through a survey of employers’ representatives using a structured questionnaire. The proposed mediation model has been tested on a sample of 284 with Confirmatory Factor Analysis by applying structural equation modelling in AMOS. Findings The structural model has been constructed with six latent constructs in accordance with extant literature. Excluding some observed variables, the structural model was found to have a good model fit. The measurement model is in accordance with ECT. Three of the four independent variables (two related to employers’ expectations and one to employers’ perception) exert significant influence on employers’ satisfaction, with (dis)confirmation as a mediator. Practical implications Industry–academia partnerships need to be an integral feature of any curriculum to bridge the gap between course curricula on one hand and employers’ expectations and perceptions on the other. Originality/value Past research on employability of EGs has mostly explored a direct association between employers’ perception and satisfaction. The authors study contributes to literature by examining the role of employers’ expectations in addition to their perception as precursors of their satisfaction, using the framework of ECT. Outcomes reported are of relevance to multiple stakeholders in technical education.

Safety is an important employment issue that needs to be tackled because of the implications it bringsto organizations. Studies on safety culture have been increasing recently in many occupational sectors. However, less focus has been given to safety culture studies in the education sector particularly in Malaysia.Adding to the safety culture research literature, this study examined to what extent factors that affect thesafety culture at education sector. A survey was conducted in Vocational Colleges (VC) all over Malaysia,as one of technical and vocational institution in Malaysian Education sector, involve 380 instructorsteaching in engineering technology courses at VC. Partial least square (PLS) analysis was employedin this study to test the research hypothesis. The measurement model resulted in fi ve factors of safetyculture which validity and reliability were confi rmed. The analysis on the structural model revealed thatsafety knowledge is the most signifi cant predictor of safety culture, followed by, safety regulations, safetytraining and safety communication. However, no signifi cant eff ect was found for management commitmenttowards safety culture among the instructors. Furthermore, in order to achieve a positive safety culturein education sector, the Ministry of Education needs to enforce a compliance of Occupational Safety andHealth Act 1994 at all organizations in education sector. Beside that, campaigns, workshops and alsotrainings need to be carried out by the government in order to increase instructors/teachers awarenessof safe work culture. Both the management and instructors/teachers need to play their own roles andresponsibility in order to ensure the objective of safety culture is achieved.
