Digital resources are readily available and easily accessible with the rapid development of information and communication technologies nowadays. These digital resources, however, have not been fully utilized as demonstrated in the literature. This chapter presents a study based on an online survey in a university environment aiming to investigate the extent to which digital resources are utilized, and to identify the critical factors for the effective use of digital resources. The study reveals that the usage of digital resources is significant in higher education, and the utilization of digital resources is very much dependent on the users and purposes. The awareness and the quality of information are critical for the use of digital resources. The findings of this study shed light on the use of digital resources and help libraries better understand users’ perceptions and experiences of using digital resources services in university libraries.

It has been highlighted from the results of independent sample t-Test that the university facilities have a high impact on student satisfaction in Malaysia (mean=4.1788) and Pakistan (mean=3.7212). The research model is based on five hypotheses, and university facilities have a positive relationship with student expectation. While results of t-Test indicate that the students in Malaysia have high expectation on university facilities, compared to students in Pakistan. This research has evaluated the variables (university image, facilities, quality of academic staff, university location, student expectation and overall student satisfaction), In the era of artificial inteligence. Furthermore, the results also indicate that the impact of university location and university image have very less impact on student satisfacton.

The paper is devoted to the issue of managing independent work of students of pedagogical universities under the conditions of educational informatization. The conducted analysis of the literature identifies such key aspects of students’ independent work as independence (self-regulation) of students and its orientation by the teacher. This requires finding effective ways to manage educational and cognitive activities of students based on widespread use of information and communication technologies, especially under the current conditions of blended and distance learning, i.e., the transition to computer-based management of students’ independent work. There is a review of the main approaches to the defining of “independent work of students” and “management of students’ learning activities”. The functional model of management of students’ independent work is presented. Following the defined model, it is noted about the importance of achieving an effective combination of management of students’ cognitive activity by the teacher as well as their own self-management. The authors emphasize the importance of increasing the independence level at the end of learning disciplines and studying at the university. It is focused on need to use a specially designed learning environment of the university for the effective implementation of computer-based management of students’ independent work. Besides, there is a focus on necessity in preparing both academic staff and students for managing students’ independent work and using information and communication technologies. The main components of the computer-based learning environment for managing students' independent work of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University are reviewed. The authors have analyzed the findings of the survey on the use of computer-based tools for managing students’ independent work by the academic staff. The main advantages of their use have been also clearly determined. Keywords: pre-service teachers; independent work of students; management of students' independent work; computer-based management; computer-based learning environment.

Portals are gateways that provide users with the information they need from different sources and display it on a single page. It is important to see that universities utilize the resources and services provided by their student portals. With the rapid development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia aims to develop and improve student portals by providing high-quality teaching services through the university portal systems. This paper discusses the importance of student portal usage in Saudi Arabian universities and investigates the factors that influence the utilization of student portals as perceived by the students of the Saudi universities. Based on these factors, a model is proposed which identifies students’ expectations about the Saudi university portals. A quantitative methodology was employed to develop the model. The results revealed that 8 out of 10 factors of the model are significant and positively affect student portal usage. The enhancement of student portals based on the identified significant factors will assist the universities to increase their utilization and their provided services.

Knowledge sharing, an important part of knowledge management, has particularly been regarded as an important way of increasing competitiveness and performance of organisations. This study investigated knowledge sharing practices among non-academic staff at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Descriptive research designed was adopted. Findings reveal that the staff shared knowledge among themselves, and majority had understanding of, and good disposition to, knowledge sharing. The study found that the staff shared both tacit and explicit knowledge, but majorly tacit, and mainly through face-to-face interactions. The major knowledge sharing enabler is improved productivity, while lack of time is the major knowledge sharing barrier. The study concludes that there is a good knowledge sharing practices among the staff. In the context of Informatization of society, much attention is paid to the use of information and communication technologies in the educational process. The younger generation of the information society are people of dynamic information on the screen. Information on the screen of a monitor, projector or TV is perceived by them much better than printed, book information. The use of information technologies in the educational process makes it possible to improve the quality of classes, to get interested in the problem, as well as to visualize the material, visually presenting phenomena that can not be demonstrated otherwise. Modern technical and software tools allow you to create and use educational models of objects and processes that are as close to reality as possible. The combination of both graphic and audio information provides an impact on the two most important sensory organs-vision and hearing, which significantly increases the information content of the educational process and the effectiveness of its perception. The computer models presented in the article can be used in the educational process of the University for elective courses and electives of physical and technical orientation.

Given the growing number of older people, society as a whole should ideally provide a higher quality of life (QoL) for its ageing citizens through the concept of personalised ageing. Information and communication technologies (ICT) are subject to constant and rapid development, and can contribute to the goal of an improved QoL for older adults. In order to utilise future ICT solutions as a part of an age-friendly smart environment that helps achieve personalised ageing with an increased QoL, one must first determine whether the existing ICT solutions are satisfying the needs of older people. In order to accomplish that, this study contributes in three ways. First, it proposes a framework for the QoL of older adults, in order to provide a systematic review of the state-of-the-art literature and patents in this field. The second contribution is the finding that selected ICT solutions covered by articles and patents are intended for older adults and are validated by them. The third contribution of the study are the six recommendations that are derived from the review of the literature and the patents which would help move the agenda concerning the QoL of older people and personalised ageing with the use of ICT solutions forward.

Continuous quality improvement of service is a crucial factor for the existence and development of educational institutions. Clarifying and judging the importance of the service’s quality factors are essential elements of quality improvement. The quality of the training services provided by universities in Vietnam have been examined by numerous pieces of research. They focused on a group of subjects, a branch of the university, a major, and assessment of student satisfaction with the use of a toolkit introduced by the MoET or by a school of the university. From these foundations, the purpose of this research is to identify the quality factors of the training service provided by the National Economics University (NEU) as a whole. Education quality is a complex concept and cannot easily be assessed by only one indicator. However, because of the timeframe and the lack of finance, we examined the service quality of NEU from the student perspective by assessing their satisfaction using the SERVQUAL model. The data collection was done by through an online survey. The empirical analysis resulted in 5 factors influencing the quality of the service, assurance, reliability, responsiveness, empathy, and tangibles. From these factors, three suggestions were made for improving the quality of the service: adjusting course structures; retraining communication skills for office staff; upgrading Wi-Fi/internet connection; optimize physical facilities usage. The research findings also have social significance, as empathy was identified as a quality factor. At the same time, the practical implications proposed for NEU’s governors have equal value for state-owned universities in general.
