Totemism that Emile Durkheim calls the origin of belief in the sacred, is also found in Sendang Mandong, Klaten, Central Java. Bulus as a totem is a representation of a local mythological figure, Kyai Gringsing. Reverence for this mythological figure not only helps the conservation of the environment, especially water resources, but also breeds a tradition that run for decades. The tradition includes the merit sendang wayangan, mangan bulus for the bride, and offerings. The tradition is also a form of ecounter between totemism with the influence of Islam. As the result, Islam Kejawen is existing in Mandong Village. However, the Islam Kejawen is local narrative of totemism and then Islam Kejawen is undocumented and not inherited either in writing or oral tradition. The local narrative is futher undermind by the changes caused by education, modernity, and the development of puritan religious stream.

This paper will describe the function of water resources to support business activities in Surakarta regency, Central Java province. Surakarta is a business city in Central Java province with small business enterprises and specific culture. This city has a famous river with the name is Bengawan Solo. Bengawan Solo is a River Flow Regional (RFR) to support business activities in Surakarta regency. Concious with the function, societies and local government in Surakarta must to manage the sustainability of River Flow Regional (RFR) Bengawan Solo. It is important to manage the sustainability of business activity in Surakarta regency.   According to the condition in Surakarta regency, this paper will explain how the simulation of Low Impact Development Model in Surakarta regency. Low Impact Development is a model that can manage and evaluate sustainability of water resources in River Flow Regional (RFR). Low Impact Development can analys goals, structures, and process water resources management. The system can also evaluate results and impacts of water resources management. From this study, we hope that Low Impact Development can manage water resources in River Flow Regional (RFR) Bengawan Solo.

This study aims to: (1) determine the conservation of water resources willingness to pay (WTP) of the community, (2) determine the determinants that significantly affect the value of PAPs for additional benefits due to increase management of water resources conservation, and (3) determine whether reforestation environment is a type of conservation that community desires. Respondents from this study are Surakarta citizens, precisely in the southern region of Surakarta, Laweyan District, Central Java. They are customers of Surakarta Municipal Water Supply Company, especially the water distribution of the Cokro Tulung spring. This study uses linear analysis and Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). The interviews result with 106 respondents revealed that: (1) the average value of WTP in R2 is Rp 1,872,-, the average value of WTP in R3 is Rp 3,238,-, the average value of WTP in R4 is Rp 2,769,-, and the average value of WTP in trade group 1 is Rp 3,846,-, (2) education variables and perception variables on the importance of conservation have a significant effect on WTP of conservation of water resources, and (3) survey results show that there are 73.6% of respondents intend to do greening around Cokro Tulung spring.

Design flood discharge is one of the important parameters in the management of water resources, especially water resources utilization structures and water damage control structures. This parameter serves to determine the dimensions and capacity of the planned water structures. As an important reference, this design flood discharge must be carefully determined so that the planned building is effective and financially functional and economically efficient. This study aims to determine the design flood discharge using rainfall data which will be recommended as a reference for the design of a micro-hydro power plant building in Kaliwadas River, Pekalongan Regency, Central Java Province. The results of the analysis based on rainfall data are compared with estimates using discharge data to determine deviations resulting from the use of rainfall data. Frequency analysis is applied to both types of rainfall and maximum daily discharge data. Chi-Square and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests were performed to test four distribution methods: Normal, Normal Log, Pearson Log III and Gumbel. Transformation of design rainfall into design discharge is done using the Snyder Synthetic Unit Hydrograph Method, by first optimizing the hydrograph parameter. The analysis shows that the design flood discharge using rainfall data is relatively lower than using discharge data with an average deviation of more than 15%. This deviation is expected to occur when the transformation of rainfall into discharge is influenced by various very complex parameters, especially changes in land cover and rainfall distribution that have not been fully accommodated. However, for watersheds with very limited discharge data, the use of rain data can be an option for establishing a design flood discharge.

This article expects the readers to witness the condition of religious harmony in the village of Kutuk in Undaan, Kudus, Central Java. The people who live in the village share various religious backgrounds, but they live side by side in harmony. This condition is achieved as the results of the education carried out by the Kutuk people since ancient times that has passed down through generations. Then, what kind of education pattern is being developed by the community to accompany every Muslim to be a tolerant figure? This research question is answered through a qualitative research with a case study approach that uses non-measurement techniques in data collection processes, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. This study confirms that Kutuk village is a miniature of tolerant village in Kudus district. This village has a lifelong pattern of tolerance education, children with the education in their families, youth with peer education in youth organizations and adults with their educational councils. The methods that were utilized in the process of transmitting the tolerance values are education bil hal (education with good behavior and good examples), education bil maqol (education via oral tradition), and education bil du'a (education with a prayer). These findings provide some options to the community about applicable steps to empower families and communities in assisting Muslims to be tolerant. It is the evidence in the village that amaliyah of nahdliyyin such as yasinan, tahlilan, and berjanjenan have contributed signifi cantly to educate Muslim to be socially and theologically pious adherents of Islam.

Water resources are essential to support everyone in the world, and one of its sources is groundwater. Many areas in Indonesia rely on groundwater to meet their daily needs due to the lack of surface water resources. However, not all-districts have detail information about groundwater resources such as in Tegal District, Central Java Province, Indonesia. Land use planning without the support of information on water resources will cause many problems. Therefore, this study aims to assess groundwater resources in Tegal District using the geoelectrical method and slug test. The research was conducted by geoelectrical survey in 8 locations, measuring groundwater level from the nearest point, and two slug tests. The result of the survey shows that five types of materials in the area are clay, silt, sand, breccia, and lava. The sand layer is an aquifer, and it consists of two layers. The sand layer has a permeability of 6.68 m d–1. However, the clay has a permeability of 1.46 × 10-3 m d–1. The moderate potential of groundwater resources with transmissivity value of more than 50 m2 d–1 lies in the middle of the district.
