Abstract For games of complete information with no chance component, like Chess, Go, Hex, and Konane, some parameters have been identified that help us understand what makes a game pleasant to play. One of these goes by the name of drama. Briefly, drama is linked to the possibility of recovering from a seemingly weaker position, if the player is strong enough. This is an important requirement to prevent initial advantages to be amplified into unavoidable and thus uninteresting victories. Drama is a feature that arguably good board games should have, since it is relevant in the perception of the play experience as pleasant. Despite its intrinsic qualitative nature, we suggest the adaptation of the concept of drama to games of pure chance and propose a set of objective criteria to measure it. Some parameters are here used to compare Goose-like games, which we compute via computer simulation for some well-know games. A statistical analysis is performed based on the play of millions of matches done by computer simulation. The article discusses correlations and patterns found among the collected data. The methodology presented herein is general and can be used to compare other types of board games.

Due to the fact that the loads occurring in the working equipment of mining excavators are determined by a large number of random factors that are difficult to represent by analytical formulas, for estimating and predicting loads the models must be introduced using non-standard approaches. In this study, we used the methodology of the theory of fuzzy logic and fuzzy pluralities, which allows to overcome the difficulties associated with the incompleteness and vagueness of the data in assessing and predicting the  forces encountered in the working equipment of mining excavators, as well as with the qualitative nature of these data.As a result of computer simulation in the fuzzyTECH environment, data comparable with experimental studies were obtained to determine the level of loading of the main elements of the working equipment of mining excavators. Based on a representative sample, a statistical analysis of the data was performed, as a result of which the equation of linear multiple stress regression in the handle of mining excavators was obtained, which allows to make an accurate forecast of the loading of the working equipment of the excavator.

The paper analyzes the constructs of ‘play experience’ and ‘play experiencing ability’ from the perspective of cultural-historical psychology. The paper stresses the importance of education, play, art, wealth and cultural diversity in the formation of healthy and independent personality. The role of play experience as a healthful factor that allows an individual to acquire resistance to psychosomatic disorders is supported both theoretically and empirically. It is argued that the individual capable of play experience can transform the meaning of a situation (within his/her play experience) and therefore eliminate its psychotraumatic effect which contributes to the development of psychosomatic disorders. The paper provides outcomes of an empirical research with 73 participants (40 female, 33 male; aged 18—45, with the average age of 25 years). The statistical analysis revealed a significant inverse correlation between the level of the individual’s play experiencing ability and the level of his/her somatization (rs = -0,435; p ≤ 0,01), which confirms the research hypothesis.

In order to simulate the actual roundness measurement accurately, must find the mathematical model of the actual roundness data, the paper’s main emphasis is doing statistical analysis by plenty of measurement data of roundness, using mathematical knowledge to prove that the actual characteristics of roundness parameters obey the normal distribution, and providing the basis for subsequent computer simulation in the future

Abstract Despite its very poor reproducibility, AOAC INTERNATIONAL's use-dilution method (UDM) for bactericidal activity (AOAC Methods 964.02, 955.14, and 955.15) has been required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) since 1953 for regulatory purposes, while methods with better reproducibility have been adopted in Canada and Australia. This study reviews UDM from a statistical perspective. Additionally, the test's expected results were compared to those obtained from actual evaluation of several formulations. Significant gaps have been identified in the reproducibility of the test data as predicted by statistical analysis and those presented to the EPA for product registration. UDM's poor reproducibility, along with its qualitative nature, requires the concentration of the active ingredient to be high enough to ensure all or most carriers to be free of any viable organisms. This is not in accord with the current trends towards sustainability, human safety, and environmental protection. It is recommended that the use of the method for regulatory purposes be phased out as soon as possible, and methods with better design and reproducibility be adopted instead.

Dilemmas of Economic Measurements in Weak Scales The attempts to measure economic phenomena and processes of qualitative nature have become commonplace among scholars engaged in empirical research. The use of measurement in the nominal and ordinal scales, however, requires a thorough knowledge of the meaning of numbers generated in the course of such operations. It is also necessary to have knowledge of acceptable statistical and econometric tools to be used in such research. Unfortunately, researchers often apply methods that are not acceptable for the numbers in the weak scales. As a result they "soup up" the outcome of their empirical research, instead of achieving a substantive truth. This article is devoted to the possibilities of statistical analysis of numbers resulting from the weak scale measurement.

The article examines the American experience of studying the workforce in the professional context. Statistical analysis of employment by occupation will reveal both trends in change in typical tasks of individual workplaces and objective knowledge, skills and competencies of workers in different sectors of the economy and the risks of their inconsistency with formal qualifications. The results of statistical analysis of employment by occupation can be used to elaborate and adjust strategies for the development of the economy of the state or its individual sectors (for the development of the economy at federal, state and industry level), educational institutions, to choose a future profession, to determine career development tools, and to choose the business location Comparative analysis of the contents of the normative documents on the classification of professions of the United States and Ukraine showed the need to develop a new version of the normative document for the classification of occupations in the professional context on the basis of the existing Classifier of professions and the Directory of Qualification Characteristics. The results of the statistical study of the workforce in terms of professions are displayed on the official BLS. However, more interesting and useful for a common user is a specially created OnLine 0*NET service. On request for the chosen profession, the complete information (“summary”) is provided: the title and the code of the profession, the nomenclature of professional tasks, the sample of reported job titles, the nomenclature of typical tasks of the activity, the necessary knowledge, professional skills, technology skills, abilities; work activities; the description of the work context, the required level of education; educational institutions and certification centers where you can get training or further training in the chosen profession; necessary personal qualities; related occupations; wages & employment trends (for each State and each type of industries); job openings on the web. There is no similar service in Ukraine. In order to create an effective system for studying the workforce in Ukraine professionally and to use convenient services for the results obtained, the efforts of scientists, practitioners and IT specialists need to be combined.
