Abstract From January 2022 Chemistry International will be freely-available to all in electronic form and will no longer be available in print. The objective is to make it readily-available to a much broader audience. It will still be published four times a year and whilst retaining its familiar layout, will be web based in a page-turning format from both the De Gruyter and IUPAC websites.

BACKGROUND Electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use has become increasingly widespread throughout the world, including Japan. However, little is known about how e-cigarettes are used in Japan, a country with heavy restrictions on nicotine-containing e-liquids, vaping products. OBJECTIVE This study comprehensively examined e-cigarette use, including e-cigarette use duration, frequency of use, device type, electrical resistance, nicotine use, favorite e-liquid flavors and concurrent use with cigarettes and/or HTPs in Japan. METHODS This study examined the detail of e-cigarette use (e-cigarette use duration, frequency of use, device type, electrical resistance, nicotine use, favorite e-liquid flavors) among users in Japan, through an online survey using a web-based self-reported questionnaire which included questions about sex, age, combustible cigarette and heated tobacco product (HTP) use behaviors. RESULTS Of 4,689 e-cigarettes users analyzed, 93.5% were men and 52.9% had been using e-cigarettes for 1-3 years. Over 80% used e-cigarettes every day; 62.4% used nicotine liquid, and half of the nicotine liquid users used nicotine salt. The most popular liquid flavor was fruit (prevalence: 68.1%), followed by tobacco (prevalence: 48.4%). While 9.0% were e-cigarette single users, 35.2% were dual users (e-cigarettes and cigarettes or HTPs) and 13.8% were triple user (e-cigarettes, cigarettes and HTPs). CONCLUSIONS This is the first comprehensive survey of Japanese e-cigarette users and our finding suggest more than half use nicotine liquid, although e-cigarettes containing nicotine liquid have been prohibited by the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act since 2010 in Japan. The study also showed 49.1% of participants used cigarettes and/or HTPs concurrently (dual or triple users).

In the world of information technology has changed the lifestyle in the aspect of our lives especially in the educational world. E-Raport is an academic information system used to input web-based student value data. The current value data input system is a benchmark for the creation of quality output and able to compete with other schools. One of the benchmarks that can be the competitiveness for other schools is the result of student learning assessments that are handled by each class. Problems that occur in the input of the value of Raport at SDN Sukanagara is currently still a manual that is the value of Raport recorded in the book Raport, so it takes a long time and a lot of energy needed. Research has the purpose of designing a value information system that facilitates the checking, recording and reporting of the computerized value of the students. Computerized Raport value reports can minimize errors in student data processing. This WEB based online raport is very easy data information and can be accessed anytime and anywhere, the system design works to insert and save value Report data and attendance and display info from school. The system uses data collection methods such as interviews, library studies, and system design, which are context diagrams, and prototypes. The information system of online Raport SDN Sukanagara is expected to be able to bring positive impact to the educational world, especially for SDN Sukanagara in the development of information technology applied in the world of education.

Critical land has become a problem in the world. Critical land is very detrimental to the health of the land. Several factors cause the land to become critical. One of them is the use of land that is not by the capabilities of the land. If no repairs made, the land will be physically, chemically, and biologically damaged. Klaten Regency is one of the regencies in Central Java Province, which has quite extensive critical land. It is necessary to monitor and improve land quality regularly to avoid critical land problems. Data and information on critical land obtained from Klaten Regency processed into a decision support system. Decision Support System uses a combination of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique For Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods. In this research, a Web-based Decision Support System created to determine the critical land area in Klaten Regency. The information system created has an alternative menu and criteria that determine the potential of critical land in Klaten Regency, making it easier for users to obtain information.

In recent decades, more and more web-based solutions are being integrated into the learning and teaching process in schools around the world. One of the most used among them for creating, storing and managing information flow is blogging. The combination of blogging in BEL (Bulgarian Language and Literature) classes is key to the development of digital and communicative speech competencies at all educational stages. There is a significant amount of research that proves that with the use of blogging a significant part of students are motivated and become better writers and readers. The article presents some of the results of a developed and tested system of BEL lessons in two experimental classes from the initial stage. For two months, students used student blogs to introduce texts from assigned tasks to literature. The web-based technology has increased students’ interest in learning, their writing and reading skills.

Domain ontologies are widely recognized as a key element for the so-called semantic Web, an improved, “semantic aware” version of the World Wide Web. Ontologies define concepts and interrelationships in order to provide a shared vision of a given application domain. Despite the significant amount of work in the field, ontologies are still scarcely used in Web-based applications. One of the main problems is the difficulty in identifying and defining relevant concepts within the domain. In this chapter, we provide an approach to the problem, defining a method and a tool, OntoLearn, aimed at the extraction of knowledge from Websites, and more generally from documents shared among the members of virtual organizations, to support the construction of a domain ontology. Exploiting the idea that a corpus of documents produced by a community is the most representative (although implicit) repository of concepts, the method extracts a terminology, provides a semantic interpretation of relevant terms and populates the domain ontology in an automatic manner. Finally, further manual corrections are required from domain experts in order to achieve a rich and usable knowledge resource.
