Sludge is an unavoidable side-effect coming about because of wastewater treatment. Dewatered sludge is ordinarily arranged off by spreading on the land or via landfilling. For urbanized zones, sludge removal via landfilling isn't exceptionally functional because of land constraints and the ecological concerns included. Accordingly, severe natural control guidelines and the expanded sludge creation rates have likewise brought about restrictions on many removal choices. Consequently, there is creating interest in removal by burning and open removal. Burning debris will be delivered and should be discarded by different methods, open removal might prompt eutrophication and inebriation of water bodies. The removal difficulties can be quickly diminished if sludge is being reused into building and development materials. This paper suggests the use of sludge and sludge debris as new and non-customary development materials as an option of arranging in landfills. The utilization of sewage muck in building materials saves us from a portion of the pricy and energy requesting phases of usage, and the result gained is generally constant and safe. The motivation behind the article is to introduce the various methods of utilizing sewage muck in development materials.

The main concern of this paper was to predict the sludge quantities generated from 18 wastewater treatment plants, which were stated to be established in the “Istanbul Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage, Sewage Treatment and Disposal Master Plan”, 10 of which are in operation at present. Besides this, obtaining the required data to compare various treatment schemes was another goal of the study. Especially, the estimation of the sludge quantity in the case of enhanced primary sedimentation was of importance. Wastewater sludge management strategies were discussed in order to develop suggestions for Istanbul Metropolitan city. Within this context, the wastewater treatment facilities, mentioned in the Master Plan that had been completed by 2000, were evaluated in terms of sludge production rates, locations and technical and management aspects. Disposal alternatives of the wastewater treatment sludge were also evaluated in this study. Using of the dewatered sludge as a landfill cover material seems the best alternative usage. Up to the year of 2040, the requirement of cover material for landfills in İstanbul will be met by the dewatered sludge originated from wastewater treatment plants in the region.

A comparative study was undertaken of three enrichment broths and three plating media to determine their efficiency in isolating Salmonella from wastewater sludge samples. These samples were raw, digested and dewatered sludge from wastewater treatment plants and composted sludge from a composting facility.

At the present stage of development, the entire world industry has faced the problem of rational use of renewable natural resources, in particular the most efficient ways of wastewater treatment and the use of accumulated waste in the production process as a secondary raw material. In particular, the alcohol industry, as one of the components of food, medical, chemical and various industries, leads to the formation of huge amounts of waste, including wastewater. The food industry, like any other industry, has a negative impact on the environment. Water bodies are the most affected by the food industry. Almost the first place in terms of water consumption per unit of production is the production of alcohol. Consumption of large amounts of water leads to the formation of wastewater, which is highly polluted and adversely affects the environment. Due to the high chemical and biological consumption of oxygen, specific color and odor, suspended solids, low pH value, the purification of such waste in the filtration fields and discharge into water bodies is not possible. The purpose of our work is: 1) conducting the analysis of the alcohol industry potential in Ukraine in recent years, and methods of waste disposal as a potential source for the development of bioenergy. 2) environmental aspects of the alcohol industry modernization at present stage of development and implementation of modern wastewater treatment technologies.

Sludge from the municipal wastewater treatment facilities is the most massive technological waste that causes trouble for any city. Possible methods of wastewater sludge treatment at the municipal wastewater treatment facilities of the Samara Urban District with the purpose of its further utilization are considered. The reasons are indicated and documentary evidence of the incorrectness of assigning the responsibility for processing such wastes only to the water and wastewater utilities is provided. The method of landfilling dewatered wastewater sludge in a ridged landfill is considered. It has been established that the sludge processed at the wastewater treatment facilities is referred to the V class of environmental hazard. Sludge subjected to the treatment, stabilization, drying and neutralization (low hazardous sludge from grit chambers for domestic and mixed wastewater treatment; almost non-hazardous sludge from grit chambers for domestic and mixed wastewater treatment and excess sludge from biological treatment facilities mixed with raw sludge) can be used as fillers for concrete-cement mixtures and organo-mineral fertilizers or transferred for disposal to outside companies.

The carrying capacity of receiving water bodies is one of the important data for water quality management, pollution source control towards harmonizing with the economic development and environment protection. Therefore, this research aimed atevaluating the carrying capacity of receiving water bodies in the south of Binh Duong province up to 2030. 06 key water quality indicators (COD, BOD, TSS, PO43--P, NO3--N, NH4+-N) were exmained with 02 wastewater treatment scenarios. Results showed the investigated area hardly had carrying capacity for NH4+-N and PO43--P, followed by TSS, BOD, and COD. In case of improving wastewater treatment status till 2030, the carrying capacity of receiving water bodies would be increased, but not significant. The carrying capacity of several basins needs to be paid special attention are: Suoi Con 1 basin (BOD, COD, NH4+-N), Suoi Cai basin (BOD, TSS and NH4+-N), the upstream of Cay Bang – Cau Dinh basin (BOD, COD, TSS, NH4+-N), the upstream of Chom Sao – Rach Bung basin (05 parameters, excepting NO3--N), the upstream of Binh Hoa – Vinh Binh basin (BOD, COD, PO43--P, NH4+-N). These findings are an important basis for formulating strategies and proposing measures for local pollution source control and surface water management.
