One of the most important indicators is the assessment of erythroсytopoezis is acid resistance of erythrocytes and their population composition. Changes in these parameters are the most studied in humans, cattle and horses. In small animals, including dogs, the issue is not highlighted enough. Therefore, the study of changes of erytroсytopoezis by using these tests is important. The study erythroсytopoezis parameters was performed in dogs of all ages (1.5–year, 3 – 6 years and 7 and older years of age). It was found that in clinically healthy dogs generall erythroсytopoezis indicators (total number of red blood cells, hemoglobin content, hematocrit value, the index «red» blood – МСН and МСV), regardless of age, did not significantly change. Yet in dogs older than 7 years there were found some changes on the the part of erythroсytopoezis. This was pointed by the changes of the population composition of red blood cells and their acid resistance. In particular, the animals showed an increased number of «old» populations of red blood cells and some changes of their hemolytic resistance. Particularly, the height of the erytrohram peak was 15% higher than in younger animals. The very peak was sharp, indicating the rapid destruction of the «young» red cells and degeneration of their lipid membranes.

Abstract The spleens from two children and one adult with hereditary spherocytosis were studied in the electron microscope. Stagnation of the erythrocytes within the splenic cords is attributable to their lack of plasticity as evidenced by the absence of bilobed, tailed, or squeezed forms in transit through the walls of the sinuses. In contrast to the sections studied by conventional light microscopy, the splenic sinuses in hereditary spherocytosis were not "empty," but contained red blood cells, the majority of which had lost their hemoglobin content. Cordal macrophages were increased in all three cases and were abundant in the splenic cords of the adult patient, causing a further impediment to the rapid passage of erythrocytes. Macrophages, and, to a lesser degree, sinus endothelial cells contained the products of hemoglobin breakdown. The macrophages showed active erythrophagocytosis. Sinus endothelial cells rarely contained intact red blood cells, but showed pronounced pinocytotic activity, a probable mechanism of hemoglobin incorporation. Platelets within the endothelial cells of the sinuses were much more frequently seen in the three cases of hereditary spherocytosis than in control spleens. The presence of ferritin in platelets suggests that they too may play a role in clearing the end products of hemolysis from the spleen.

We used a scanning acoustic microscope to image normal and outdated red blood cells, cells with different hemoglobin content, red cell ghosts, and cells treated with various drugs that induce echinocyte-stomatocyte transformation. Images were obtained at different planes of focus within the cells, corresponding to maxima and minima of signal intensity. Digitization and gray scale amplitude mapping were used to create axonometric plots that display signal amplitude variations within the cells. The images of red cells contain features produced by differences in topology, density, elasticity, and absorption. Both hemoglobin content and the cell cytoskeleton contribute to image features, and various deformations, characterized by the formation of blebs and vacuoles, are displayed in cells undergoing echinocyte-stomatocyte transformation. These preliminary findings, although mainly descriptive, indicate that acoustic microscopy may be a useful new method for evaluating red cell deformation and associated changes in mechanical properties.

1. Statistical analyses have been made of the weekly variations in the blood counts of groups of normal rabbits to find whether there exists any relationship between the numerical changes occurring in the various cell types. Consecutive blood counts and differential white cell determinations on five groups of normal male rabbits comprising 45 animals in all were made at weekly intervals from October, 1927, to June, 1929, the number of observations on each group varying from eight to thirty-five. 2. The following relationships between the varying group means were found to be consistent and significant:—The number of the red blood cells varied with the amount of hemoglobin per cubic millimeter and with the number of lymphocytes. There was an inverse relationship between the amount of hemoglobin and the number of monocytes. The neutrophiles varied in number with the monocytes; the basophiles with the eosinophiles; and the eosinophiles with the monocytes. Other associations not always similar but of high significance as far as the combined values were concerned, were the relations of the red blood cells with the basophiles and the monocytes. The relations of the neutrophiles with the red blood cells and the hemoglobin were very irregular. 3. Significant association of the white blood cells with variations in the red blood cells and the hemoglobin content were observed. The numerical variations in the group means of the total white cells were associated with similar variations in the group means of the neutrophiles, the lymphocytes, the monocytes, the basophiles, and the eosinophiles almost to the degree of their numerical occurrence in the peripheral blood. 4. With the exception of the total white cells, approximately only half the variations in the group levels of the various cells and of the hemoglobin content can be accounted for on the basis of simultaneous associations with each other. 5. The red blood cells, the lymphocytes, and the basophiles as one group, the eosinophiles and the monocytes as another group, and the hemoglobin content and the neutrophiles as a third group, described a definite shift from a high to a low numerical value during the 2 year observation period. From the standpoint of the magnitude of the shift, the basophiles, the eosinophiles, the monocytes, the lymphocytes, and the red blood cells participated in the order mentioned. The neutrophiles were only slightly affected and the hemoglobin content relatively not at all. 6. No significant relationship was ever found, even in the component groups, between the weekly mean values of the following: the hemoglobin with the basophiles, the eosinophiles, or the lymphocytes; the neutrophiles with the basophiles or the eosinophiles; and the lymphocytes with the eosinophiles or the monocytes.

It has been established that antenatal pathology causes changes in the oxidant/antioxidant balance indices of cows within the range from 24.3% to 41.5%, and in sheep - 17.2-26.2%. In particular, in cows the content of serum catalase decreased by 29.9% and that of superoxide dismutase - by 29.1%, in erythrocytes, catalase - by 35.7%, and reduced glutathione - by 28.0%, and by hemoglobin by 24.3%, the number of red blood cells - by 28.7% and the concentration of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate - by 41.5%. At the same time, the content of malondialdehyde in serum and erythrocytes, on the contrary, increased by 32.4% and 32.5%, respectively, and there was a change in oxidant/antioxidant balance from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3 conventional units. In sheep, the content of serum catalase decreased by 17.2% and that of superoxide dismutase - by 21.6%, in erythrocytes catalase - by 23.9% and in reduced glutathione - by 21.1%, hemoglobin content decreased by 26.2%, the number of erythrocytes - by 24,1% and the concentration of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate - by 21.2%. While the content of malondialdehyde in blood serum and in erythrocytes, on the contrary, increased by 23.7% and 22.3%, respectively, and the change in oxidant/antioxidant balance occurred from 2:1 to 1:3 conventional units.

The article gives data on the influence of Amprolinsyl and Amprolium 22% on morphological parameters of blood after eumirioic invasion. It has been shown that after application of amprolium 22% for the treatment of turkeys infected with eumeria invasion, gradual normalization of hematological parameters of blood begins. Thus, at the 3rd day of treatment, the number of red blood cells increased, but remained 25.1% lower, and the hemoglobin level increased, but remained at 16.3% lower, compared with clinically healthy poultry. During this period, within the limits of normal values was the value of the color index, the mass of hemoglobin in the erythrocyte and the value of hematocrit. The obtained results indicate a gradual normalization of the erythropoietic function of the bone marrow. However, the large average volume of one erythrocyte is 1.12 ± 0.07 μm against 0.96 ± 0.03 μm³ in the control, and the decrease in the average concentration of hemoglobin in one erythrocyte by 13.3% against the norm indicates an incomplete recovery of the erythropoietic bone marrow function. At day 5 of treatment with amprolium, 22% of red blood cells and hemoglobin levels increased but still remained below physiological values by 12.3% and 6.8%, respectively, compared to control. At the 10th day of the experiment, restoration of hematopoietic function of the bone marrow was observed on physiological values of erythrocytes and hemoglobin content of the blood, as well as blood leukogram. In the treatment of turkeys with "Amprolisyl", at the 5th day, the hematopoietic function of the bone marrow completely normalized, as indicated by the number of red blood cells, hemoglobin content and red blood cell index values. It is known that the values of red blood cells, namely the volume of erythrocytes, the mass and concentration of hemoglobin in them, and the color index objectively reflect the state of hematopoietic function of the bone marrow. The results of our studies indicate that in the turkey infected with imeiriosis and treated with amprolium 22%, clinical recovery occurs at day 5, and the hematopoietic function of the bone marrow is restored spontaneously in 5 days after recovery. In the treatment of turkeys with Amprolinsyl, the restoration of morphological parameters, the normalization of white blood cell leukemogram and the clinical recovery of turkeys arose on the fifth day of treatment. Thus, due to the fact that Amporolinsyl, in addition to the active ingredient, contains sparse fruit of thistle spots, which contain high levels of vitamins A and K, and trace elements – Ferum, Kuprum and Cobalt, which are directly involved in hemopoiesis, therefore, the restoration of hematopoietic function of the bone marrow comes much faster than with the application of amprolium itself 22%.

The article presents the results of studies of the eff ect of the drug “Poledoxin”, which belongs to the group of tetracyclines and the drug “Tilmox 25%”, belonging to the group of macrolides, on some morphological and biochemical parameters of blood of Coobb-500 broiler chickens. It has been established that the use of the preparations “Poledoxin” and “Tilmox 25 %” for healthy broiler chickens according to the scheme recommended for treating birds with ornithobacteriosis and infections complicated by the causative agent of ornithobacteriosis does not cause changes in the clinical condition and behavioral reactions of the bird. A blood test found that under the infl uence of the drug “Poledoxin”, the number of red blood cells in the blood of broiler chickens increased by 4–59 % (p< 0,01) in chickens which used the drug “Tilmox 25 %” – by 5–46 % relative to control. The hematocrit value was less than the control indicator by 8 % in chickens that were treated with Poledoxin after 6 days of experiment (p< 0,05) in chickens that were used with tilmox 25 % – by 10 % (p< 0,05) through 6 and 9 days of experience. The hemoglobin content in the blood of poultry of the studied groups one day after drinking antibiotic solutions was less than the control by 7 and 8 %, respectively (p< 0,05, p< 0,01), and after 4 days – by 11 and 10 % (p< 0,01). Under the infl uence of Pledoxin, the volume of 1 erythrocyte (MCV, μm 3) in the blood of chickens was less than the control by 23–39 % (p< 0,05, p< 0,01), and when exposed to tilmox 25% – by 16–35 % (p< 0,01). The hemoglobin content in 1 erythrocyte (MCH, pg) was 62–83 % of the control index when exposed to Poledoxin (p< 0,01) and 69–86 % when exposed to tylmox 25 % (p< 0,01). The number of leukocytes in the blood of a bird under the infl uence of “Poledoxin” decreased by 8 % after a day (p< 0,01), and increased by 6 and 7 % after 3 and 4 days (p< 0,01). A decrease in the number of leukocytes in the blood of chickens of both research groups by 5–11 % (p< 0,001, p< 0,01) was established after 8 and 9 days. Key words: Poledoxin, Tilmox 25 %, broiler chickens, red blood cells, hematocrit, hemoglobin, white blood cells.

<p>The article deals with the results of search of the influence of developed complex liposomal drug on dynamics of hematological parameters of rat organisms under conditions of simulated oxidative stress caused by the use of carbon tetrachloride. Intramuscular injection of 50% tetrachloromethane to rats at a dose of 0.25 ml per 100 g of body weight causes antigenic load on the body and leads to disruption of physiologic level of hematological indices of experimental animal organisms. This indicates the number reduce of red blood cells, hemoglobin content, hemoglobin concentration in erythrocyte, increasing the number of leukocytes, mass of hemoglobin in erythrocyte and increased of color index.</p><p>To normalize the hematological indices of rat organisms for the development of oxidative stress it is advisable to apply the liposomal drug that incorporates contains butafosfan, interferon, milk thistle and vitamins. When using liposomal drug to rats, under conditions of oxidative stress, the normalization of hematological indices comes in blood, namely on 14th day within physiological variables were indicators of the number of erythrocytes of hemoglobin content, white blood cell count and indices of red blood cells compared to controls, indicating a recovery of hematopoietic function of marrow.</p>
