Introduction. Inconsistency of the governmental regulatory impact on the socio-economic processes is one of the destructive factors in the increasing asymmetry of regional development. The decisions taken in the sphere of financial market regulation have provoked large-scale structural and quantitative changes in the banking system. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of the occurred transformation on regional development and to analyze the possibilities of reducing gaps in the volume of banking services provided in Russia’s regions as well as in the level of their socio-economic development. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted on the basis of data from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the Federal State Statistics Service. The results of the banking system transformation and the possible impact of the changes on regional development were assessed using the methods of scientific knowledge. When working with the empirical material, the methods of comparison, measurement and evaluation were used. Results. The authors have identified gaps in the level of socio-economic development of Russia’s regions. For a long time, a number of regions have demonstrated limited opportunities for self-development and to fulfil their potential. The acuteness of this problem can be smoothed out by the tools of bank regulation (e.g. lending). After the decrease in the number of regional banks, the banking services market has seen steady signs of oligopoly with a marked decline in price competition. Negative effects of this decline have been increasing at the regional level. Discussion and Conclusion. Regional socio-economic dynamics demonstrate high sensitivity to the reduction in the number of regional banks operating independently as well as to the decline in price competition in the banking services market. It is important that the regional component be taken into account in regulatory practices, including that applicable to the banking sector. Preservation of the regional segment of this system will help to solve a lot of problems at the local level and thus make a significant contribution to overcoming the gaps in the socio-economic development of the regions. The results of this study will be useful to managers of the Central Bank of Russia, as well as to regional and local authorities.

In fact, nowadays, Internet-based banking services dominate over other historically provided alternatives. This article discusses private clients′ trust in Internet banking in Latvia. The model of trust in Internet banking was developed based on four factors, distinguished in the scientific literature. They are provided information, bank’s characteristics, ebanking system and website of a bank. Hence, the goal of the research is to measure the impact of distinguished factors on trust in Internet banking. In order to determine how these attributes affect private customers′ trust, correlation and regression analysis were applied. The results showed that the most vital factor affecting private clients’ trust in Internet banking is e-banking system. What is more, it was found that provided information is a statistically insignificant factor and, hence, it was removed from the model. Respondents, being private customers, limit the breadth of study, thus the results do not reflect companies’ trust in Internet banking.

Introduction. The importance of the banking sector is vital for the economic development of any country, since it is the main structural unit of monetary use, which plays the greatest role in the development of the state. As in all markets, we are faced with competition in the banking market, which is characterized by certain specifics, since the main product is money that cannot be replaced by other goods, and the main purpose of competition is to gain an advantage among agents operating in the same market, which is reflected in the final profit. The more the banking market develops and the more diversified the services offered to clients, the more the role of competition in the banking sector increases. The spread of the pandemic not only impeded the development of healthy competition, but also called into question the normal functioning and development of the banking sector. Aim and tasks. The aim of the study is to determine the level of competition in the Georgian banking sector by the method of identifying total assets and net loans, which aims to identify the causes of the market concentration level and find solutions, as well as to determine and assess the shock effects of the pandemic, because The pandemic period has become an even bigger challenge for the Georgian banking sector, where most of the market players occupy a small volume of the market, the National Bank of Georgia is actively trying to keep up with the challenges, and in order to mitigate the negative impact caused by the pandemic Results. The results of the study showed the monopoly functioning of the market, which is an obstacle to the development of a competitive market, resulting in unhealthy functioning of the market and the development of a flexible banking system, which ultimately negatively affects the stability of the country's economic development. As for the post-pandemic situation, it has been dealt with quite positively in Georgia, with the management of loan and deposit portfolios successfully managed through a temporary supervisory plan developed by the government, which has not been followed by outflow of funds from banks and loan portfolio mismanagement. Conclusions. In conclusion, it should be noted that in a highly concentrated market, small banks should be promoted with various legislative benefits, which will lead to competition, it is possible to impose a so-called "Capital tax", which implies high demands on capital, it will allow small banks to develop in a healthy competitive environment. Despite the fact that no bank was disrupted during the virus shock in Georgia, the financial result was so unfavorable, it was damaged, the main reason for which was the provision of possible losses on loans, which amounted to a total of 1.22 billion GEL, the National Bank of Georgia is actively trying to keep up with the challenges.

The article examines the impact of globalization on the development of the world and national economic systems. The high probability of a global economic recession due to the coronavirus outbreak is projected to have significant consequences for both the global economy and the economy of Ukraine. Due to the probable change in the structure of the world economy and logistics, there is a growing need to study the risks of the national banking system, which demonstrates a high dependence on global financial markets. The peculiarities of the manifestation of financial and economic crises in the conditions of turbulence of the international financial markets and strengthening of financial instability have been considered. The causes and consequences of crises in the banking sector of Ukraine have been studied. The analysis of macroeconomic indicators of economic development of Ukraine during 2006-2019 with identifying of crisis periods has been carried out. Particular attention has been paid to the study of the preconditions for the emergence and consequences of the global financial and economic crisis for the economy of Ukraine in general and the banking sector in particular. Indicators that characterize the degree of penetration of the banking system into the economy of Ukraine have been analyzed, that will determine the features of crises at different stages of socio-economic development and conduct a comparative assessment of anti-crisis measures of the NBU aimed at stabilizing the banking sector. Taking into account the fact that the causes of financial and economic crises are not identical, measures used during the Global Financial and Economic Crisis of 2007-2011 cannot be taken to overcome the negative consequences of the Coronacrisis of 2020. Regulatory aspects of the banking system in times of crisis have been systematized. An attempt to predict the possible development of events in the domestic banking sector in the context of the Coronacrisis of 2020 has been made. The purpose of the article is to study the development trends of the banking sector of Ukraine in the space of formation of the destructive consequences of the global financial and economic crises and to determine the main directions of anti-crisis regulation of banking.

Purpose The study aims to identify the impact of monetary policy tools on the performance of banks in India, and this could be an excellent suggestion to the regulators in framing the favourable interest rates which would meet the macroeconomic objectives of the Indian economy. Design/methodology/approach The design adopted in this study is descriptive and analytical research. Correlation and regression analysis is used to determine the relationship between bank rate (BR) and the performance of public sector banks in India. The sample chosen for this study is the public sector banks actively performing in India. Findings The performance is measured by taking three factors, and they are deposits, loans and advances (L&A) and total asset value of the banks. All three factors have shown an impact of BR on them during the five years. L&A affected the least amongst the three factors, but the other two were significantly impacted by the change in BR by the Reserve Bank of India. So, there should be a favourable fluctuation in the BR which will bring flexibility in the banking system, and they can perform well in the economy and the central bank also can concentrate on the macro-economic situation in the country. Originality/value This paper helps in giving suggestions to the Central bank, researchers, financial institutions to look into the financial performance and monetary policy rates and the central bank also can concentrate on the macro-economic situation in the country.

Development of regions is one of the priority areas of state regional policy, which purpose is to create appropriate conditions for dynamic, balanced socio-economic development of Ukraine and regions, improving living standards, ensuring compliance with state-guaranteed social protection for each citizen and elimination of main regional imbalances. Ensuring competitiveness and socio-economic development of regions is a prerequisite for growth in the local and national economies. The impact of increasing the financial autonomy of local governments primarily depends on their financial provision. One of the primary sources of local revenues is local taxes and fees, which enhance the efficiency of using budget instruments for the socio-economic development of administrative units. The main contribution of the research lies in the testing of the hypothesis of existing relationship processes between local taxes and indicators of regional development based on panel data analysis for all regions of Ukraine using the regression model in Stata SE and MS Excel. The research period covers 2018–2020. The dataset includes parameters of local tax revenues and indicators of regional development. To substantiate the role of local taxes in regional development, a set of hypotheses about the relationships between local tax revenues and regional development dynamics were specified. In the process of calculations, 18 regression equations (ordinary least squares panel regression method) were created, which allow estimating the impact of local taxes on the general indicators of regional development. Calculations results proved that local taxes have a significant positive effect on ensuring the growth in regional social and economic development indicators. This creates a background for enhancing the financial capacity of local budgets due to the improvements in the local tax system.
