Abstract In this study, a single stage thermoelectric cooler (TER, of size: 21 × 14.2 × 13.5 cm) with thermoelectric module (TEM, of type inbc1-127. 05 with size 40 × 40 × 4.0 mm) and applied electrical power of 30 W and current of 2.5 A, was adopted to estimate the coefficient of performance (COP) of thermoelectric refrigerator (TER). The TER uses a fan to cool the heat exchange region of the TEM. The temperature of the fruit/vegetable samples used in this study was taken before and after cooling for a specific period. The temperatures at both the hot and cold sides of the TEM were also taken at every specific cooling period. The experimented TER can cool vegetable/fruit from about 27 to 5°C within 3 h. The aim of this study is to determine the COP of TER to ascertain the possible applications. The temperature gradient at the heat exchange section of TEM was used to estimate the average theoretical COP to be 0.99, the heat extracted from the cooling chamber and the power supplied was used to estimate the average practical cooling COP to be 0.52; which is within 0.4–0.7 standard COP for a single stage type of TER.

Thermoelectric technology works by converting thermal energy into electricity directly or preferably.  Thermoelectric technology works by converting thermal energy into electricity directly or preferably. Theuse of thermoelectric as a cooler in cool box systems has been extensively studied. The thermoelectric cool ability can be achieved depending on the design of a good system. Therefore, this study aims to determine the performance of thermoelectric cooler cool box based on single and multi stage. Tests carried out using cool boxes of dimensions of 31 cm x 19 cm x 24 cm witha thickness of 3 cm and with the TEC1 12706 module. The voltage used in each configuration is 12 Volts. Temperature data readings on laptops using DAQNavi_SDK data logger connected to type K thermocouples. The result showed the multi stage configuration reached a room temperature of around 19.3 oC and 21.8 oC for single stage. Meanwhile, the multi stage configuration COP value is 1.36 and with a single stage configuration is0.88. It can be concluded that the thermoelectric configuration has an influence on the performance of the cool box system. Keywords: Cool box, Thermoelectric module, Multi stage, single stage, COP

The thermoelectric module is a device that works by using the Peltier effect when electrical power supplied on it. In this study, the thermoelectric module is applied as thermoelectric cooler (TEC) using air cooling heat sink where cooling box capacity is 22 L. This paper experimentally investigates the thermal performance of thermoelectric cooler with a variation on input power and cooling load. The investigation has been conducted by three variations on input power (50.5W, 72.72W and 113.64W) and by two variations of the cooling load using mineral water (1440 mL and 2880 mL) with input power 113.64W. The box temperature achieved at input power 50.5W, 72.72W and 113.64W are 19.98oC, 19.77oC and 18.52oC, respectively. While at the cooling load of 1440 mL and 2880 mL, the temperature achieved in the box are 22.45oC and 23.32oC, respectively. The test results showed that in variation on the input power from low to high, the temperature in box becomes lower on high input power and causes the lower of COP, this is because more energy could be absorbed on high input power. In the cooling load variation, the greater the cooling load given in cooling box, then the longer the box  temperature  stability can be achieved because of more energy needed for decreasing the temperature of cooling box.

The present study investigates the performance of solar photovoltaic integrated thermoelectric cooler (TEC) using MATLAB Simulink. The enhancement of efficiency has been achieved using an effective heat removal mechanism from the hot side heat sink. Since the hot side temperature is a crucial parameter. The intrinsic material properties like Seebeck coefficient (?), Thermal Conductance (K) and Electrical resistance (R) of the thermoelectric module are carefully estimated using analytical method and reported. The MATLAB Simulink Peltier module is developed based on the estimated intrinsic properties. The effect of system Voltage (V) and Current (A) on the thermal parameters like cooling capacity (QC) and Coefficient of performance (COP) has been investigated. The simulation study is validated by conducting a series of experimental analysis. The experimental model is equipped with a 100 Wp polycrystalline solar photovoltaic module to integrate and power the 12V/5 A of the 60-Watt thermoelectric cooler. Moreover, the results reveal that there is a significant effect of ambient and hot side temperature on the thermoelectric cooler performance. The fin-type conductive mode of heat transfer mechanism is adopted along with the convective forced air-cooling system to achieve effective heat removal from the hot side. The infrared thermographic investigation is carried out for ascertaining effective heat removal.

Faults in electrical power systems are among the key factors and sources to network disturbances, however control strategies are among key faults clearing techniques for the sake of safe operational mode of the system. Some researchers have shown various limitations of control strategies such as slow dynamic response, inability to switch Off and On network remotely and fault clearing time. For a system with wind energy technologies, if the power flow of a wind turbine is interrupted by a fault, the intermediate-circuit voltage between the machine-side converter and line-side converter will fall in unacceptably high values. To overcome the aforementioned issues, this paper used a Matlab simulations and experiments in order to analyze and validate the results. The results showed that fault ride through (FRT) with SCADA Viewer software are more adaptable to the variations of voltage and wind speed in order to avoid loss of synchronism. Therefore at the speed of 12.5m/s a wind produced a rated power of 750W and remained in synchronization before and after a fault created and cleared but worked as generator meanwhile at speed of 3.4m/s wind disconnected from grid and started working as a motor and consumed active power (P=-25watts) and voltage dip at 100% .For the protection purpose, the DC chopper and crowbar should be integrated towards management of excess energy during faults cases.

Membrane-based vacuum dehumidification technology is currently being actively studied. In most studies, the performance of the membrane-based systems is evaluated under the assumption that the membrane can achieve ideal separation, which results in ideal coefficient of performance (COP) values. However, the performance factors for membranes vary depending on the experimental conditions and measurement methods. Therefore, relevant values can only be calculated if the data are measured in an environment close to that of the application conditions. The cup measurement method is a simple method to measure the permeability, however, there are limitations regarding adding variables during the experiment. To overcome these limitations, a new experimental device was constructed that combines pressurized cell with the cup method. Using the device, the performance of polyethylene-amide-bonded dense membranes was evaluated under conditions where absolute pressure differentials occurred before and after the membrane, such as in air conditioner dehumidification systems.

Three-dimensional numerical analysis has been carried out using the FEMLAB software package to figure out the performance of the thermoelectric micro-cooler. A small-size and column-type thermoelectric cooler is considered and Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3 are selected as the n- and p-type thermoelectric materials, respectively. The thickness of the thermoelectric element considered is 5 to 20 μm and the thickness affects the performance of the cooler. The effect of parameters such as the temperature difference, the current, and the thickness of the thermoelectric element on the performance of the cooler has also been investigated. The coefficient of performance (COP) is the primary factor to evaluate the performance of the cooler and the COP varies with the parameters. The COP has the maximum value at a certain current and the value decreases with the temperature difference or the thickness. The predicted results also show that the performance can be improved for thick thermoelectric element at the small temperature difference and small current.

The electrical power consumption of refrigeration equipment leads to a significant influence on the supply network, especially on the hottest days during the cooling season (and this is besides the conventional electricity problem in Iraq). The aim of this work is to investigate the energy performance of a solar-driven air-conditioning system utilizing absorption technology under climate in Baghdad, Iraq. The solar fraction and the thermal performance of the solar air-conditioning system were analyzed for various months in the cooling season. It was found that the system operating in August shows the best monthly average solar fraction (of 59.4%) and coefficient of performance (COP) (of 0.52) due to the high solar potential in this month. Moreover, the seasonal integrated collector efficiency was 54%, providing a seasonal solar fraction of 58%, and the COP of the absorption chiller was 0.44, which was in limit, as reported in the literature for similar systems. A detailed parametric analysis was carried out to evaluate the thermal performance of the system and analyses, and the effect of design variables on the solar fraction of the system during the cooling season.
