Title: Gender Gap of Small Scale Fisheries Utilization in Natuna Regency The gender gap or the different role of access and control among men and women on the decision making process in small scale fishery activities in Natuna is remain high. The purpose of this research is to analyze the gender gap in small-scale fisheries utilization and to provide the strategy to achieve gender equality. Gender disaggregated primary data were collected in August 2019 from 52 respondents of the small scale fishermen in 5 sub regency in the Bungguran Island of Natuna Regency. The data were processed using excel software to find out the percentage of 3 reasons for respondent participation. The findings shows that decision maker is dominated by fishermen. The gender gap occurred in preparation process of the fishing activities, fishing activities, and post fishing activities. Therefore, government of Natuna Regency must prepare the economic stimulus program for providing labor opportunities for women, encourage the participation of the fishermen’s wife in decision making process by involving them in fish auction activity or as manager of fishing fleets.

This chapter defines the members eligible for participation in the Security Council, as well as the roles of the persons presiding therein. Notably, the UN Charter stated that the United Nations places no restrictions on the eligibility of men and women to participate in its work, though it would be over twenty years since the Charter's inception before a woman was appointed into the Council. The chapter goes on to define the role of each member in the context of Council meetings, and emphasises the potential of a diverse membership contributing unique ideas and perspectives to the decision-making process.

Women play important, but often invisible, roles in Lake Malawi’s small-scale fisheries sector. This paper augments previous research by exploring the productive and reproductive roles that men and women have in fishing communities and how this shapes women’s access and control over fisheries resources. Contributing to advancing the understanding of how to strengthen women’s roles in the fisheries sector, this paper reports on a qualitative assessment conducted in seven Malawian lakeshore districts. Data collected via focus group discussions, which included gendered resource mapping exercises, revealed belief systems and gender norms that shape men’s and women’s access to and control over lacustrine resources. While both men and women have access to lake and land resources, their roles differ. Men dominate fishing resources whereas women dominate resources that are tied to household management. While all value chain nodes are open to men, women tend to be concentrated in lower-value processing and trading activities. Social norms and values shape people’s access and control over communal resources. It is noteworthy that women who earn an income from the fisheries value chain have more access to savings and credit and have more equal household bargaining power.

Tolerance for uncertainty is a component of intellectual-personal potential and mediates the decision-making process (DM). The state of Art demonstrates that tolerance of uncertainty contributes to effective and productive decision-making and associated with the constructs that reveal the emotional sphere of a person. The theory of dynamic regulative systems predicts that in the decision-making process, both cognitive and emotional-personal components (tolerance of uncertainty, emotional creativity, and emotional experience of threats from uncertainty) can reach the upper levels of the hierarchy. The role of tolerance for uncertainty in the decision-making processes is relatively well known, however the contribution of the emotional sphere to the problem-solving processes, as well as its relationship with tolerance of uncertainty, is not sufficiently studied. The aim of the study was to establish correlations between emotional creativity and tolerance for uncertainty and productive decision-making strategies. Hypotheses: positive correlation between emotional creativity tolerance of uncertainty productive decision-making strategies was expected. As a result, positive relationship between emotional creativity and tolerance of uncertainty was revealed. It is shown that emotional creativity can be involved in decision-making processes in two ways: to help overcome uncertainty and increase the effectiveness of problem solving, or to lead to difficulties in overcoming interpersonal intolerance of uncertainty, due to a decrease in components of self-control and control of emotional expression. Taken together, the results demonstrate the inclusion of uncertainty tolerance in the emotional sphere of the person, and show the involvement of these components in the DM processes.

Fishing fleets in South East Asia have recently experienced unprecedented expansion. Consequently, catches and regional diversity have dramatically decreased throughout the Indian Ocean. Regional governments and conservation organizations blame the local fishermen and their use of damaging fishing practices for the present state of resources. However, many of these institutions endorse a narrow perspective on bioeconomic governance and human action (rational action choice) that compromises the understanding of resource use and exploitation among small-scale fisheries. Over the last few decades, there is a growing recognized tradition that points to the importance of ecological systems of knowledge, uncertainty representation, and traditional skills, in conceptualizing processes of environmental decision-making and the likelihood of introducing successful sustainability practices. In line with this perspective, this article presents preliminary findings regarding resource use decision-making processes among Endenese fishing villages in central Flores Island, Indonesia. Grounded on 22 months of ethnographic, experimental and ecological research (semistructured interviews, participant observation, visual surveys, probability and uncertainty assessments), and exploring local cognitive representations of marine processes, climate, ichthyology and the role of luck, this article discusses the current economic representations of small-scale fishers as avid maximizers. It concludes by emphasizing the need to further explore the role of mental models and beliefs regarding uncertainty in motivating fishing effort to design adequate conservation and governance programs.

Tittle: Role of Small-scale Fishery in the Regional Development of ‘Weru Complex’, Lamongan RegencySmall-scale fisheries development is directed to create strong linkages with other sectors.  Linkages to increase added value, employment and incomes are ultimately expected to grow local economy. By far, middlemen have been playing dominant role, but on the other hand, the role of both fishers’ wives and women fishers have been increasingly significant. These women contributed to the management of fishing results. The more significant of their role the more reducing the  dominance of middlemen in the fisheries business system. The research objective was to analyze the role of small-scale fisheries and the role of “mapak” by fishers’ wives. The study was conducted in Weru Complex, Paciran Subdistrict, Lamongan District, in January to April 2015 and November 2019. The study used primary data that were collected from business actors from fishing, marketing, product  processing sector and the role of “mapak” in business management. Data were analyzed with descriptive method, and the results were described in tables and figures. The results suggested that fishers’ characteristics and resources condition determine the behaviour towards resources. This interaction is a source of economic activity which is able to encourage local economic growth. Small-scale  fisheries is able to drive regional economic in Weru complex through its ability to move backward and forward linkages (upstream and downstream). “Mapak” is the role of fishers’ wives in the management of fish caught including grading, marketing, product processing and especially in the financial management of the activities. Furthermore, they also contribute to capital arrangement through social gathering, savings, and bank capital. Their succeed role eventually reduce the dominance of the role of middlemen/customers in fishery business.

Introduction: Patients’ decisions to undergo major surgery such as orthognathic treatment are not just about how the decision is made but what influences the decision. Objectives: The primary objective of the study was to identify the key processes involved in patients’ experience of decision making for orthognathic treatment. Methods: This study reports some of the findings of a larger grounded theory study. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews of patients who were seen for orthognathic treatment at a teaching hospital in the United Kingdom. Twenty-two participants were recruited (age range 18–66 y), of whom 12 (male = 2, female = 10) were 6 to 8 wk postsurgery, 6 (male = 2, female = 4) were in the decision-making stage, and 4 (male = 0, female = 4) were 1 to 2 y postsurgery. Additional data were also collected from online blogs and forums on jaw surgery. The data analysis stages of grounded theory methodology were undertaken, including open and selective coding. Results: The study identified the central role of dental care professionals (DCPs) in several underlying processes associated with decision making, including legitimating, mediating, scheduling, projecting, and supporting patients’ decisions. Six categories were related to key aspects of decision making. These were awareness about their underlying dentofacial problems and treatment options available, the information available about the treatment, the temporality of when surgery would be undertaken, the motivations and expectation of patients, social support, and fear of the surgery, hospitalization, and potentially disliking their new face. Conclusion: The decision-making process for orthognathic treatment is complex, multifactorial, and heavily influenced by the role of DCPs in patient care. Understanding the magnitude of this role will enable DCPs to more clearly participate in improving patients’ decision-making process. The findings of this study can inform future quantitative studies. Knowledge Transfer Statement: The results of this study can be used both for informing clinical practice around enabling decision making for orthognathic treatment and also for designing future research. The findings can better inform clinicians about the importance of their role in the patients’ decision-making process for orthognathic treatment and the means to improve the patient experience. It is suggested that further research could be conducted to measure some of the key constructs identified within our grounded theory and assess how these change during the treatment process.

The gradual enlargement of the EEC has necessitated an adaptation of European supranational structures established in the 1950-1970s to the needs of the time. Under these circumstances one of the key priorities of France's participation in the EU is he struggle for preserving her influence on the EU decision-making process. The article is devoted to the interaction of France with its partners in the EU institutions. This implies not only the implementation of its own interests, but also the search for compromise more or less satisfactory to all participants.
