Formation of a holistic and effective methodology of the system-diagnostic approach to studying problems of the development of peripheral territories taking into account the specifics of economy, peculiarities of economic space organization, achieved level of socio-economic development in regions of agricultural-industrial type is a major scientific task. Its consistent solution requires not only searching for ways and tools to consolidate standard and a number of experimental diagnostic procedures, but also verifying their analytical abilities taking into account the specifics of the economic space of the center-peripheral systems of agricultural-industrial regions. Theaim of the study is to inventory and characterize the possibilities and disadvantages of existing methodological approaches to the analysis and assessment of regional socio-economic differentiation in the center-periphery system. This will allow not only to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the available relevant methods, but also on this basis to move to the formulation of specific requirements for a modern analytical and diagnostic system for detecting problems of development of peripheral localities, which should take into account the need to screen and monitor a number of new diagnostic areas of analysis. The article considers a number of analytical and diagnostic areas, which are not reflected in theoretical provisions in any of the scientific directions of conceptual support of functioning and development of peripheral territories. Combining them in order to enhance the “permeability” of methods and tools of a system-diagnostic approach to peripheral research involves the development of a special methodology.

Lateral cephalometry has been widely used for skeletal classification in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. However, this conventional system, requiring manual tracing of individual landmarks, contains possible errors of inter- and intravariability and is highly time-consuming. This study aims to provide an accurate and robust skeletal diagnostic system by incorporating a convolutional neural network (CNN) into a 1-step, end-to-end diagnostic system with lateral cephalograms. A multimodal CNN model was constructed on the basis of 5,890 lateral cephalograms and demographic data as an input. The model was optimized with transfer learning and data augmentation techniques. Diagnostic performance was evaluated with statistical analysis. The proposed system exhibited >90% sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy for vertical and sagittal skeletal diagnosis. Clinical performance of the vertical classification showed the highest accuracy at 96.40 (95% CI, 93.06 to 98.39; model III). The receiver operating characteristic curve and the area under the curve both demonstrated the excellent performance of the system, with a mean area under the curve >95%. The heat maps of cephalograms were also provided for deeper understanding of the quality of the learned model by visually representing the region of the cephalogram that is most informative in distinguishing skeletal classes. In addition, we present broad applicability of this system through subtasks. The proposed CNN-incorporated system showed potential for skeletal orthodontic diagnosis without the need for intermediary steps requiring complicated diagnostic procedures.

AbstractPituitary hyperplasia secondary to primary longstanding hypothyroidism has been reported in the literature in adults and rarely in children. Here we present the clinical presentation and diagnostic procedures in eight children with pituitary hyperplasia due to autoimmune thyroiditis, highlighting common findings, such as growth delay, fatigue or gaining weight, but also exceptional findings such as pericardial effusion, rhabdomyolysis, isolated hypertrichosis, and Van Wyk-Grumbach syndrome, which have rarely or never been described.Surprisingly no thyroid enlargement was detected. We discuss the unusual presenting signs of autoimmune thyroiditis that should raise the suspicion of pituitary hyperplasia. We suggest that a more elaborate clinical assessment and even modification of the diagnostic approach to autoimmune thyroiditis is needed in order to avoid its serious complications.

The authors presented a work that raises the reliability of agricultural machinery, the organization of diagnostic procedures and the effective use of units by reducing downtime. It is proposed to organize the diagnostic process according to the hierarchical principle and use the expert system to analyze the state of the object in the current situation. The diagram of the structure of the diagnostic system using the center of the state analysis is presented. The article is of interest to specialists working in the field of operating grain harvesters and increasing the productivity of agricultural work.

One of the most effective methods for bearing diagnostics is the method of shock pulses. The fixed pulse levels for specific type of bearings and a specific working position are in corresponds with the parameters, characterizing the resource of the bearing. Roughness is one of those parameters. Adaptation and application of that method to slow-revolutionary large rolling bearings of wheel excavators, spreaders and belt conveyers is commented in the paper. A diagnostic system for control directed towards repair is worked out as a result of the adaptation of standard diagnostic approach for application to non-standard (from a vibrodiagnostics point of view) bearing nodes of mechanization at the bulgarian open-pit mine “Maritza-East Mine” Ltd. In Bulgaria.

The article summarizes the results of the analysis of the causes of fragmentation, dissociation, and polarization of the economic space of rural territories, primarily the southern regions of Russia, which are the leading agricultural and industrial regions of the country (Rostov region, Krasnodar Krai and Stavropol Krai), determines the impact of infrastructure deficits, conventionality of farming for the outflow of economically active population to areas with a higher level of competitive advantages, determines the need to align the development of rural territories, primarily through the formation and development of poles of economic growth of the “second order”, which should serve as intermediate links for leveling the discreteness of economic space of agricultural and industrial regions. The author considers a set of innovative measures that contribute to the generation of impulses for the development of rural territory economy and transformation of their economic space towards depolarization and the elimination of “dissociation”, which is the key to increase the economic potential of the agro-industrial complex (its resource, agricultural and raw material, processing and production components), increase of its functioning efficiency, which is especially important for the agricultural and industrial regions of Russian South.

The need to update and develop new provisions of the policy of regional social and economic development as a centre-peripheral system is determined by the impossibility to ensure balanced social and economic development and smooth spatial development of central and peripheral territories only within the framework of the long-term strategy and programmes of social and economic development. The factor of economic space, its qualitative characteristics, as well as life-affirming properties in the context of the transition to the post-industrial paradigm of economic dynamics began to perform a much larger range of functions than just a topographic placement of economic agents within the framework of the concept of physical and metric use of elements of space. This circumstance can no longer be ignored in the framework of regulating interterritorial proportions and developing adequate approaches ensuring the equal spatial and economic development of the relevant centre-peripheral systems. The inclusion of the center-periphery conditions into the processes of forming and implementing the regional social and economic policy makes it necessary to look at the problems and order of regional strategic targeting from another point of view. This process, i.e. the process of strategy development, as well as the resulting strategic document of regional perspective development, is quintessential of the general philosophy and ideological concept of development of the region taking into account its spatial position, specialization of economy and specificity of the center-peripheral architecture within the region. The article justifies the relevance of developing new approaches to the formation of a strategy of regional spatial development for the territories of the central-peripheral type or agricultural and industrial regions. It details the principles of strategy development, the recommended diagnostic procedures used in the development of the strategy document, as well as the technological routing of the strategy development process and its key components. The presented scientific results have practical value within the implementation of the policy of spatial development of agricultural and industrial regions.

The main purpose of the mountain ski centers is to meet the needs of recreation and psychophysical rest. This requires large space advantage, despite the existence of various infrastructure, environmental and socio-psychological advantage that would allow recovery of human organism. However, due to the system disorganization these facilities are very often largely usurped so that their original role is ignored. One of the biggest problems for the future tourism development of Mount Vlašić is inadequate land management, which has resulted in the construction of a large number of illegal facilities that contribute to the physical and ecological burden of the mountain. Through the paper current situation on Vlašić will be assessed, and presented natural characteristics, resources and potentials, as well as the cultural heritage of the study area. Also, analysis of the current area usage, planning organization and the environment will be carried out, applying new methodological approaches in the planning and management of space, through the significant usage of GIS. Space organization and arrangement are viewed from the aspect of natural resources exploitation emphasising tourism development and the construction of sports, recreation and other infrastructure systems. Main problem, is the fact that when planning the development of tourism and tourism infrastructure in the ski center Vlasic, carrying capacity, which will be, among other things, presented in the work was not taken into consideration.
