RESUMOO dente denominado incluso nada mais é que um dente retido ou impactado dentro do alvéolo dentário de maneira parcial ou completa que não conseguiu erupcionar por motivos patológicos ou simplesmente anatômicos após o período de rizogênese. O canino, em especial, é de suma importância sob os pontos de vista estético e funcional. O deslocamento do canino incluso ultrapassando, ou se aproximando da linha média antes da erupção dentária do mesmo, é mais frequente na mandíbula do que na maxila.  Este trabalho tem por objetivo descrever o caso de um paciente de 21 anos que apresentava um canino incluso na região mentual, em posição transversal, inicialmente visualizado em uma radiografia periapical e posteriormente submetido a radiografia com a técnica de Donavan. Através de uma radiografia oclusal, foi possível observar o posicionamento do dente para a vestibular mentoniana e íntima relação do dente retido com as raízes dos incisivos centrais decíduos do paciente. Foi realizada a extração do dente retido no mento, removendo o mesmo por completo sendo feitas osteotomias e odontossecções. O paciente está em acompanhamento clínico à 1 ano após o tratamento cirúrgico.Palavras – chave: Dente incluso; Cirurgia Oral; Imaginologia. ABSTRACTThe tooth inserted  is nothing more than a tooth retained or impacted within the dental socket partially or completely that failed to erupt for pathological or simply anatomical reasons after the period of rhizogenesis. The canine, in particular, is of the utmost importance from the aesthetic and functional points of view. The displacement of the canine, even surpassing or approaching the midline before tooth eruption, is more frequent in the mandible than in the maxilla. This work aims to describe the case of a 21 - year - old patient who had a canine included in the mental region, in a transverse position, which was initially visualized on a periapical radiograph and later submitted to radiography with the Donavan technique. An occlusal radiograph showed the positioning of the tooth for the mental vestibular and the intima relationship of the retained tooth with the roots of the patient's central deciduous incisors. Removal of the tooth retained in the denture was performed, removing the tooth completely and osteotomies and odontosections were performed. The patient is in clinical follow-up at 1 year after the surgical treatment. key words: Tooth included; Oral surgery; Imaginology.

The aims of this study were to 1) determine if continuous eruption occurs in the maxillary teeth, 2) assess the magnitude of the continuous eruption, and 3) evaluate the effects of continuous eruption on the different periodontal parameters by using data from the population-based cohort of the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP). The jaw casts of 140 participants from the baseline (SHIP-0) and 16-y follow-up (SHIP-3) were digitized as 3-dimensional models. Robust reference points were set to match the tooth eruption stage at SHIP-0 and SHIP-3. Reference points were set on the occlusal surface of the contralateral premolar and molar teeth, the palatal fossa of an incisor, and the rugae of the hard palate. Reference points were combined to represent 3 virtual occlusal planes. Continuous eruption was measured as the mean height difference between the 3 planes and rugae fix points at SHIP-0 and SHIP-3. Probing depth, clinical attachment levels, gingiva above the cementoenamel junction (gingival height), and number of missing teeth were clinically assessed in the maxilla. Changes in periodontal variables were regressed onto changes in continuous eruption after adjustment for age, sex, number of filled teeth, and education or tooth wear. Continuous tooth eruption >1 mm over the 16 y was found in 4 of 140 adults and averaged to 0.33 mm, equaling 0.021 mm/y. In the total sample, an increase in continuous eruption was significantly associated with decreases in mean gingival height ( B = −0.34; 95% CI, −0.65 to −0.03). In a subsample of participants without tooth loss, continuous eruption was negatively associated with PD. This study confirmed that continuous eruption is clearly detectable and may contribute to lower gingival heights in the maxilla.

Tooth eruption is characterized by a coordinated complex cascade of cellular and molecular events that promote tooth movement through the eruptive pathway. During tooth eruption, the stratum intermedium structurally changes to the papillary layer with tooth organ development. We previously reported intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression on the papillary layer, which is the origin of the ICAM-1-positive junctional epithelium. ICAM-1 expression is induced by proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor. Inflammatory reactions induce tissue degradation. Therefore, this study aimed to examine whether inflammatory reactions are involved in tooth eruption. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis revealed sequential expression of hypoxia-induced factor-1α, interleukin-1β, and chemotactic factors, including keratinocyte-derived chemokine (KC) and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2), during tooth eruption. Consistent with the RT-PCR results, immunohistochemical analysis revealed KC and MIP-2 expression in the papillary layer cells of the enamel organ from the ameloblast maturation stage. Moreover, there was massive macrophage and neutrophil infiltration in the connective tissue between the tooth organ and oral epithelium during tooth eruption. These findings suggest that inflammatory reactions might be involved in the degradation of tissue overlying the tooth organ. Further, these reactions might be induced by hypoxia in the tissue overlying the tooth organ, which results from decreased capillaries in the tissue. Our findings indicate that bacterial infections are not associated with the eruption process. Therefore, tooth eruption might be regulated by innate inflammatory mechanisms.

<p>Neonatal teeth is a rare disorder of tooth eruption, arising in the oral cavity, usually in the anterior mandible, in the first month of life. Its etiology is unknown. This condition can cause breastfeeding difficulties, besides aspiration or swallowing of the teeth. We describe the case of a premature infant in the second day of life presented with gingival edema, redness and discrete swelling in the region of the mandibular central incisors. Ten days later, two small teeth with hypermobility were detected. Extraction of those teeth was performed. With this clinical case we intend to show the rarity of this entity, especially in premature infants, the possible association with various syndromes and the need for a multifactorial approach to the treatment decision (extraction / conservative treatment).</p>

Objective The purpose of this study was to observe tooth eruption pattern into the newly generated bone induced by recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2). Method Three 12-week-old beagle dogs were used. Following wound healing of the extracted maxillary third deciduous incisor at the age of 13 weeks, a resection of maxillary alveolar bone (8 mm by 8 mm by 8 mm) was carried out, accompanied by extraction of the maxillary second incisor tooth germ. The rhBMP-2 (5 μg/100 μL or 10 μg/100 μL) was implanted in the resected area. A group that was not implanted after resection and a nonresected group were used as controls. Serial changes of the eruption pattern of the maxillary third incisor in the implanted area were observed radiographically. Oxytetracycline and calcein were employed as bone markers. Nine weeks after the implantation, the animals were sacrificed. The samples were observed histologically and analyzed using peripheral quantitative computerized tomography to acquire the bone mineral density (BMD). Results In the rhBMP-2 (5 μg/100 μL)-treated group, histological findings and the BMD of the newly generated bone were almost same as in the non-resected group. The maxillary third incisor erupted through the implanted area. However, in the rhBMP-2 (10 μg/100 μL)-treated group, more osteoinductive activity and significantly higher BMD were observed in the newly generated bone. The maxillary third incisor erupted mesially so as to avoid this implanted area. Conclusion Results showed that bone remodeling and tooth eruption through the newly generated bone appear to be dose dependent. Accordingly, proper dosage of rhBMP-2 should be determined for successful clinical application.
