Youth is the most promising social stratum for any state. The processes associated with the activation of the young generation in the social and political life of the country are the most relevant within the framework of modern sociopolitical discourse. The paper reveals the issue of political activity of youth movements in the Republic of Tatarstan. The role of socio-political youth organizations in the formation of public opinion within the framework of the election campaign is revealed. The authors analyse the current state of political youth associations in the Republic of Tatarstan, their place and potential. Given a certain political passivity of the young generation in Russia, especially in the framework of electoral processes, methods of influencing its public opinion that are adequate to this target audience are of particular importance. Thus, there is an objective need for a thorough analysis of the youth communication sphere in order to identify those methods of communication with youth that will most effectively convey to it the proposed position of certain political actors. It is assumed that in the modern information society, the widespread adoption of global communication technologies, young people, as the most progressive part of society, are most affected by the communication influence of modern information platforms posted on the Internet.

This article reflects the results of a study of the value orientations of modern student youth and the features of its civic participation. The political socialization of modern youth is becoming an important factor in the manifestation of its civic political activity. Political literacy of youth is achieved not only due to its inclusion in the educational process and the study of relevant disciplines (political science, sociology, geopolitics, etc.), but also thanks to modern communication technologies. However, even the formation of the so-called “media literacy” always entails active political participation; absenteeism has been and remains the predominant feature of the political behavior of the majority of the young generation. The spirit of rebellion traditionally attributed to youth is not always manifested even in the form of a protest vote, which is facilitated by the lack of confidence in the effectiveness of the electoral political mechanism as a response to a request for justice. The survey allowed us to draw conclusions about the basic political values of youth (freedom, legitimacy, a request for social justice), and revealed the attitude of young people to various forms of civic participation, as well as their willingness to be active in the political sphere.

The conclusion is argued that the situation of the young generation, the formation and realization of its socio-political potential continue to remain controversial. The productive realization of its innovative potential is a significant factor in political progress.

The young generation is often overlooked in scientific discourse, although it is the youth (students) who often play a leading role in political and social change in the country. One such case is Ukraine, where it is the young people who started the largest protests in the country's thirty-year independent history. The presented article is an attempt to characterize the Ukrainian generation of «freedom» (Marzęcki, 2020) (youth people born during the period of Ukrainian independence, that are not impact of authoritarian regime socialization) from a socio-political perspective. The main research goal of this article is an endeavour to fully understand, describe and explain the attitude of the young generation (students) towards democracy (the article also includes comparisons to polish youth). This specific objective was achieved by analysing survey data. On the other hand, specific issues and problems identified at the quantitative research stage were examined based on data collected during in-depth interviews with sixteen students in Ukraine. In this sense, a second important specific goal has been achieved, i.e. diagnosis, description and explanation of behavioural patterns (political activity) dominating the social consciousness of students, which are considered justified and effective in relation to the world of politics. Author himself, conducted qualitative (IDI – 16 respondents) and quantitative research (1043 surveys) on a representative group of youth respondents in Ukraine. Quantitative research has been conducted in fourteen universities, preserving the territorial diversification. The results contained in the summary of the article, however, are not very optimistic. It is safe to say that the democratic system is in crisis, and the revolutionary cycle is still probably not completed in Ukraine.
