Abstract Objective: To analyze how the components of the client's capital are used in the management of nursing in hospitals. Method: A qualitative research carried out in five public hospitals, four private hospitals and three philanthropic hospitals in the period from October 2014 to May 2015. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview with twelve nursing managers and analyzed according to content analysis. Results: The components of the Client's Capital were used by the nurses when performing the management of the client service to promote changes and improve the service after evaluating the satisfaction of the nursing care through active systematic search, with its own evaluation tools and the ombudsman's information and in the interaction with suppliers of materials, equipment and services. Conclusion and implications for practice: The managers use managerial actions for the development of the client's capital of organizations. In order to improve them, they must evaluate the nursing care in a continuous and strategic process to satisfy the clients, throughout their trajectory in the organization, since clients are permanent sources of innovation that affect professional and organizational development and productivity.

Abstract This article investigated the organizational integration of refugees from the experience of company managers in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. A basic qualitative research was developed, based on interpretative paradigm assumptions, and the data were collected through a semi-structured interview applied to five managers in charge of refugees in their workplace. The interviews data underwent qualitative content analysis. The results showed potential integration benefits, such as experience sharing, new talents, gratitude, engagement, improvements in the company’s reputation, productivity, creativity, and organizational development from the inclusion of new languages. However, factors such as language, diploma revalidation, skill limitation, and low schooling levels were seen as obstacles to efficient integration. The research also found that employers are highly dependent on voluntary assistance from organizations for hiring and integrating refugees, which indicates that, without the presence of these mediators, the possibilities of recruiting the refugee workforce may be affected. The study contributes to broadening the discussion on the organizational integration of refugees, a topic that is still little explored in the field of administration. It also intends to awaken in managers a more sensitive view about people in a situation of refuge and how their effective integration can impact their businesses and individuals.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify factors that interfere with the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in quilombola communities. Methods: qualitative research based on the Transcultural Theory proposed by Madeleine Leininger, performed with quilombola mothers. For data collection, we used the semi-structured interview, conducted from June 2018 to January 2019. Content analysis was guided by the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. Results: it was revealed that intergenerational cultural myths and customs interfere with breastfeeding practice, and identified the influence of professional nurses on best breastfeeding practices. Final Considerations: cultural and intergenerational factors favor early weaning and expose the child to illness.

Abstract The objective of this study was to investigate professors' perceptions about their experiences in the teaching-learning process of nursing care in relation to dying. This is a descriptive-exploratory, qualitative research, delimited by data saturation, was carried out with 11 nursing professors from three higher education institutions. Data collection involved the drawing-text theme technique and a semi-structured interview. Analysis used the technique of collective subject discourse. The results identified three categories: How I would like to take care in the context of finitude - my challenge; Challenging fragilities in the teaching of nurses in the context of care concerned with death and dying; Strategies to compensate or promote more substantial nurse training related to care in finitude. We conclude that the graduation of the nurses studied did not satisfactorily develop the necessary skills and abilities to deal with human death and dying. This study infers the need of permanent education to support transformations in this area.

The aim of the study is to determine experiences of children attending a preschool class and their teacher about class rules, desirable and undesirable behaviors and strategies followed by the teacher concerning these behaviors. The study is a case study, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The participants were 14 children attending a class for 5 year-olds in an independent kindergarten and the teacher of the class. Semi-structured interview technique was used in the study. In addition, in two of the questions in the interview, the students were asked to draw pictures to help them describe their experiences in more detail. The data in the study were analyzed by content analysis, categorized by coding, and themes and sub-themes were obtained. As a result of the research, it was found that the opinions of the children and their teachers about class rules and undesirable behaviors were in parallel with each other. The study revealed that the experiences of children and the teacher overlap in terms of behaviors and strategies followed by the teacher in response to desirable behaviors. However, it was found that the experiences of children and their teacher differ with regards to the way class rules are determined, and behaviors and strategies followed by the teacher concerning undesirable behaviors.

Background & Aim: Quality improvement in hospitals is a systematically widely used framework that improves patient care quality delivered by health care professionals. This study assessed the attitude of nurses toward Quality Improvement. Methods & Materials: A quantitative research approach was used. A total of 361 nurses working in two government hospitals and two private hospitals in the Philippines were selected using convenience sampling. The data collected using a self-administered questionnaire was started in March-April 2019. To identify the association between nurse demographic characteristics and perceived quality improvement, an independent sample t-test, a one-way analysis of variance with a post-hoc Tukey HSD test, and a Pearson’s product-moment correlation were conducted using SPSS. Results: Nurses have high positive quality improvement attitude scores. The age, salary, and hospital type, influence quality improvement attitude scores. Conclusion: Nurses have a positive attitude towards qualitative improvement. In addition, nurses’ age, salary, and public hospitals' work have a positive qualitative improvement than nurses working in private hospitals.

The process of choosing heads can be strategic to achieve desired results in nursing care. This study presents an exploratory and descriptive research that aims to analyze the process of choosing heads for the ward, in the nursing area of a teaching hospital in Porto Alegre. Data was collected from registered nurses, technicians and nursing auxiliaries through a semi-structured interview technique and free choice of words. Three theme categories emerged from content analysis: process of choosing heads, managerial competences of the head-to-be and team articulation. Leadership was the word most frequently associated with the process of choosing heads. The consultation process for the choice of the leader also contributes to the success of the manager, as it makes the team members feel co-responsible for the results achieved and legitimizes the head-to-be in their group.

ABSTRACT Objective: To understand the meanings that nurse researchers and nursing assistants attribute to one another, and to the development of research produced by Nursing. Method: Qualitative research. The Grounded Theory and the Complexity Theory were used as theoretical and methodological frameworks, respectively. Ten nursing assistants and six research nurses participated in the research. The semi-structured interview was used as a data collection technique. The results were categorized by comparative analysis and validated by ten judges. Results: The valuation of nursing care research as well as interactions between research development and nursing care may be related to the way nursing assistants and nurse researchers perceive themselves. These perceptions are multifaceted. Conclusion: The meanings nurse researchers and nursing assistants attribute to each other reveal mechanisms of closeness and distance between these actors, as well as between research and nursing care.
