Abstract. The Ageing people with disabilities, he has not yet gained scientific and social the interest that requires enormous relevance and significance of the topic. The adult population is growing dramatically, from extending their life expectancy, having increasingly elderly in our society, and therefore, more people with disabilities reach this stage of life. We will have to pay particular attention to its various and numerous fronts: cognitive, health, emotional life, social life, development of hobbies, occupation time, mode of residence or housing, self-awareness, coping with loss, and many other things....However, rarely the intellectual disability is related whit old age. Therefore, in this intervention centering on new approaches to disability: the model of support and quality of life; It addressed, the aging of older people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with its peculiarities and needs. Both cognitive and the emotional and mental wellbeing aspects are mainly considered. It should be identified, assessment tools, programs and guidelines, all aimed at promoting a process of active aging, which contributes to improving the quality of life of older people with intellectual disabilities, promoting every one of the dimensions that make up this concept.A great social challenge is now the STAGE ageing of people with disabilities. It will be the great challenge of our century on aging. Keywords: Ageing, Mental Disability, Psychological Changes, Assessment, Intervention, Support, Quality of LifeResumen.

During this century, the quality life (QoL) has become a priority for many countries. There is a clear interest in the different organizations in society, such as the media, for collaborating so that their citizens have better living standards. The objective of this research is to characterize the promotion of quality life in news from Latin American companies within the framework of responsible digital journalism (RDJ), for which it developed from the concept of quality life and the areas in which this concept studied to identify the characteristics of the quality of life. A quantitative, descriptive and transversal approach implemented to analyze the notes published in three Latin American newspapers in 2019. The results show that there is a low diffusion about the quality of life in the messages where the characteristics that the reader could detect were not identified with the indicators of quality of social life. However, news adheres to principles of the PDR such as truthfulness, objective language and reflexionethics of the profession.

Introduction. Low back pain has a direct and proportional impact on function and a general one on the quality of life. The present study aims to evaluate the functional impact of low back pain using specific self-assessment tools as indexes of appreciation and epidemiological correlations of potential risk factors involved. The conceptual model of our research is based on the importance of correlating symptoms with clinical assessment, using scales of pain, disability, quality of life, and determination of epidemiological correlations of these areas and the determined factors of the pathology. Material and method. The study group is made up of 106 cases with clinical diagnostic of low back pain, admitted from 28 September 2020 to 28 March 2021, at Balneal and Rehabilitation Sanatorium of Techirghiol. After performing anamnesis, general clinical examination, specific neuro-musculo-skeletal examination, the patients filled the surveys highlighting the impact of their low back pain on functionality and disability deriving from it. The survey included the Oswestry Disability Index, the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) instrument and the Visual analog scale (VAS) score evaluated at the moment of hospitalization and at discharge. Statistical analysis of data was carried out and correlations between variables resulting from study were highlighted. The study was conducted according to the norms of deontology and medical ethics. The authors declare no conflict of interest. Results and discussions. Lumbar pathology is common in patients who are hospitalized for a complex balneary-physical-kinetic treatment at Balneal and Rehabilitation Sanatorium of Techirghiol. About 80% of patients who have addressed to our unit in which the study was conducted, have presented low back pain. The majority of patients were females, representing 57,55% of the total number. Regarding the patients’ age, 58,5% of them were in the 50-70 years interval. The study reveals a major positive impact of our treatment on spinal symptomatology, an effect pointed out by the relevant statistical differences between the admittance and discharge VAS scores(p<0.001). Reporting the investigated disability with the Oswestry questionnaire of painful lumbar syndrome, and functional evaluation scale (FIM) demonstrates the impact of this pathology on the patient's social life, once again emphasizing the special attention to be paid to axial pathology, both as curative treatment and the importance of prophylactic treatment. Statistical analysis of identified risk factors, reveals the importance of prophylaxis and patient’s education in this area. A strong and important statistical correlation was found between the Oswestry total score and the walking and standing items, and a moderate, but strong correlation with the other items. Regarding the sex life item, the correlation is existent, but at a modest level. Conclusions. The study reveals the importance of correlation of the data obtained from anamnesis, the general clinical examination and the specific examination neuromioarthrokinetic with assessment tools that determine the level of functional independence, the functional impact on social life in high-frequency pathologies treated in medical facilities that provide healthcare in the field of medical recovery. It is necessary to quantify the therapeutic results obtained, in order to assess the level of improvement in quality of life. Oral mucosal lesions occur frequently in older people and are important as they may reduce quality of life, represent pre-malignant change or indicate systemic disease. The commonest mucosal lesions in adults are denture-related lesions such as stomatitis, angular cheilitis, ulcers and hyperplasia, and occur in 8.4% of the adult population. In the hospital setting, oral mucosal lesions may lead to malnutrition, slow rehabilitation and recovery from illness, and adversely affect quality of life. The two major risk factors associated with oral lesions are denture use and smoking, and frequently older people have been exposed to both of these. Commonly used drugs such as antihypertensives, antidepressants and antibiotics may have oral mucosal side-effects, and polypharmacy may worsen these. Decreased awareness of changes in the oral mucosa, or inability to raise concerns due to dementia, delirium, social isolation, or difficulty accessing dental care may further compound the problem. Hospital admission could represent an opportunity to intervene, but oral mucosal lesions, and indeed oral hygiene, are areas which can be overlooked by doctors. This article is intended to highlight common or important oral mucosal diseases and increase awareness of these conditions for the practising hospital or community geriatrician.

Abstract Aims High grade gliomas are rare but have the highest number of cancer deaths in the under-40s. Treatment options are limited, resulting in a clinical focus on maintaining quality of life (QoL). However standard QoL assessment tools are time consuming, may not reflect an individual’s priorities, and are rarely used in clinical practice. Moreover, the impact of caring for someone with a high grade glioma is seldom assessed. An alternative approach to assessing quality of life is to use a patient - or carer-generated index (PGI/CaGI), which asks patients & carers to raise, rank and number their concerns. This may offer a route to individualised QoL assessments within clinical and research settings. The CaPaBLE study tests the feasibility and acceptability of the PGI and CaGI methodology in patients with high-grade glioma and their caregivers. This paper highlights key similarities and differences of the PGI/CaGI to standard QoL questionnaires. Method CaPABLE is an observational phase 2 non-randomised study following patients and their caregivers over 6 months starting at either first diagnosis or recurrence (https://www.isrctn.com/ISRCTN45555598). Patients and caregivers complete both standard questionnaires (EORTC QLQ C30 & BN20 and CargoQOL) and PGI/CAGI at 5 timepoints over the 6 month period. Each time the patients/caregivers complete the PGI/CAGI they are asked to identify up to 5 main topics of concern for their QoL, to score these, and rank their importance. For this analysis, we grouped topics into themes, compared the stability of themes over time and to EORTC domains. Analyses of EORTC measures are conducted using standard scoring approaches. Here we present an initial analysis of occurrence of PGI/CaGI themes compared to EORTC domains, but do not consider scores or ranking. Results 6 patients (4 male) and 5 caregivers (3 female; 4 paired with patients; one unpaired) have completed both standard questionnaire and PGI/CaGI at three or more time points, with a total of 19 (patient) and 18 (caregiver) assessments. On average people reported 3 topics at each assessment. The PGI generated 59 topics (32 themes); the CaGI, 50 topics (23 themes) and themes were consistent over time. The most common domain raised by patients was “social life” (13). Caregivers raised “personal life and family” (12 and “planning ahead” (7) more commonly. Of the 32 PGI themes, 23 align with EORTC domains. 9 PGI themes were not represented in the EORTC questionnaires, and 14 EORTC domains did not appear in the PGI. Of the 23 CaGI themes, 17 align with 7 CarGOQOL domains. 6 CaGI themes were not represented in the CarGOQOL and 3 CarGOQOL domains did not appear in the CaGI. Conclusion PGI and CaGI themes coincide with the main domains of EORTC (i.e., cognitive, social, role, physical, emotional functioning, future uncertainty). However, there were significant discrepancies: PGI (e.g., intimacy, ability to drive, and COVID related restrictions) and CaGI (e.g. personal life & family) highlighted themes that are not in the standard questionnaires. Both PGI/CaGI and standard questionnaires agree that symptom-related issues such as pain and seizures are not the main priority when it comes to QoL. In addition, CarGOQOL reports positive aspects of care, whereas CaGI only raised negative areas. This study is the first to show the feasibility of PGI/CaGI in a brain tumour patient & caregiver population. PGI/CaGI are notably quicker to complete and provide insights not captured by standard questionnaires. We are continuing to recruit patients and caregivers, and have submitted a protocol amendment to carry out qualitative interviews with patients and caregivers, to explore their views further.

Abstract: The objective of this article is to offer an introduction about the aging process, to clarify the different conceptions, theories and ages from which we can approach the analysis of aging, to study the concepts of quality of life and active aging, as well as the relation that is maintained between quality of life, active aging and lifelong learning. In this sense, we deepen the university programs for older people as a practical example of socio-educational intervention oriented to active aging. We also analyze the specific case of the Elderly’s Open Room of the Pablo de Olavide University. This program has the versatility enough to adapt to the socio-educational needs of the elderly who are protagonists of their own learning. They create spaces of learning and experiences, which foster intergenerational relationships.
