The interest of Russian and foreign investors in the coal industry is great enough. In the Russian coal industry, it is necessary to invest mainly those investments that relate to highly innovative technologies and promote the introduction of innovative projects in the field of geological exploration, coal mining and processing. First of all, it concerns coal engineering, certain areas in the areas of coal processing and processing, innovative activity of the organization, complex of security measures and organization of coal mining. It should be noted that with a common similarity in the direction of creative activity of domestic and foreign inventors vary considerably. Abroad, most of the patents apply to the construction of mining equipment with the simultaneous patenting of ways to use this design. In Russia, most of the patents protect the development methods intended for use in specific conditions of a certain deposit, as well as the methods of using certain equipment in different conditions. The analysis of innovative activity of organizations of Russia in comparison with the EU countries was carried out, which showed that the share of organizations that carry out innovations: technological, marketing and organizational is much lower than in Western Europe. Basically, the patents received in Russia relating to the coal industry are aimed at underground methods of coal mining. The creative activity of domestic inventors is mainly aimed at improving the ways of using existing equipment.Private companies (for coal mining and processing) without state involvement will not be able to modernize existing technologies and equipment in a short time. In this regard, the financing of innovative projects in the coal sector should be carried out within the framework of the public-private partnership for the implementation of large innovative projects of the coal business. Patents provide an opportunity to learn about current research and existing technology stocks of companies in various countries long before the advent of innovative products on the market and to avoid the risk of authors of development for obtaining a patent.

SummaryThis article challenges the militant and industrial unionist version of British coal mining trade union history, surrounding the Miners' Federation of Great Britain and the National Union of Mineworkers, by considering, for the first time, the case of the colliery deputies' trade union. Their national Federation was formed in 1910, and aimed to represent the three branches of coal mining supervisory management: the deputy (or fireman, or examiner), overman and shotfirer. First, the article discusses the treatment of moderate and craft traditions in British coal mining historiography. Second, it shows how the position of deputy was defined by changes in the underground labour process and the legal regulation of the industry. Third, it traces the history of deputies' union organization up until nationalization in 1947, and the formation of the National Association of Colliery Overmen, Deputies and Shotfirers (NACODS). The article concludes that the deputies represent a mainstream tradition of craft/professional identity and industrial moderation, in both the coal industry and the wider labour movement.

The traditional research method of fault diagnosis mechanism has poor stability, which leads to the difference of fault diagnosis and location results. Therefore, under the complex geological environment, a new research method of fault diagnosis mechanism of gear and bearing for coal mining equipment is proposed. This method calculates gears and bearings’ yield strength by analyzing coal mining equipment’s bearing capacity elasticity. According to the fitting degree, the equipment sample’s projection space is confirmed, the fault features of gear and bearing are extracted by segmentation algorithm, the optimal fitness is set by positioning algorithm, the location of fault center is obtained, and the fault mechanism diagnosis is studied. Experimental results show that compared with the traditional method, the proposed method is more stable, and the difference in fault diagnosis results is minimal. It can be seen that this method is more suitable for fault diagnosis of coal mining equipment.

The article focuses on the study of the closeness of the relationship obtained from different sources and used in different areas, finance, with the effectiveness of innovation, measured by the number of developed innovative products and the number of introduced new technological processes. The input information was the data of industrial enterprises of Ukraine for the period 2015-2019, summarized in statistical reporting and presented on the official resources of the State Statistics Service. To accomplish these objectives, the methods of correlation-regression analysis and analysis of the dynamics and structure of statistical indicators of innovation of industrial enterprises of Ukraine were used. Possible causes of crisis phenomena of innovative activity of Ukrainian enterprises that hinder the economic development of the national economy are discussed. The basis for further research of complex and individual influence of factors on development of innovative activity of the enterprises of various branches of economy is provided.

The article presents an analysis of the problem of human resource retention in the coal-mining region. It is emphasized that along with the factors of economic development it is advisable to take into account the socio-cultural needs and preferences of employees to ensure the preservation of human resources and the development of human capital on this basis. The article substantiates the need to rely on the actual socio-cultural needs of the subjects of professional activity when building activities for the development of the socio-cultural space of the coal-mining region. The article analyzes the implementation of strategic measures for the creation of the Siberian Cluster of Arts from the point of view of the development of the socio-cultural space of the region for the retention of human resources. The empirical part of the article is presented by the results of the study of socio-cultural needs, leisure preferences and the assessment of the attractiveness of the factors of living in Kuzbass by employees of the coal industry enterprises of the region. The sample population included 93 respondents living in the following cities: Kemerovo, Berezovskiy, Kiselevsk, Novokuznetsk, Polysaevo, and Prokopyevsk. The main method of collecting information was a survey conducted through GoogleForms. The analysis uses methods of mathematical statistics, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results, and analysis of the significance of socio-cultural needs for the respondents.

The paper examines the trends and techniques now being adopted by the Australian coal mining industry to improve efficiency and competitiveness in the face of an increasingly difficult international and domestic coal market. Quality Assurance certification to internationally accepted standards has been gained by some operators whilst many more companies are implementing varied forms of Total Quality Control concepts. These concepts now so well established in traditional manufacturing industries, have not previously been associated with the vagaries of the coal industry but are now being pursued by many in an effort to gain or retain a competitive edge. The paper also explains some of the actual processes being undertaken by the mining companies and outlines some of the systems being developed and utilised to undertake preliminary analysis and evaluation of existing and proposed management systems prior to implementing TQC systems.
