The foot plays an important role in supporting the body and keeping body balance. An abnormal walking habit breaks the balance of the human body as well as the function of the foot. The foot orthotics which is designed to consider biomechanics effectively distributes the load of the human body on the sole of the foot. In this paper, gait analysis is performed for subjects wearing the orthotics. In this study, three male subjects were selected. The experimental apparatus consists of a plantar pressure analysis system and digital EMG system. The gait characteristics are simulated by ADAMS/LifeMOD. The COP (Center of Pressure), EMG and ground reaction force were investigated. As a result of gait analysis, the path of COP was improved and muscle activities were decreased with orthotics on the abnormal walking subjects.

Background and Study Aim: This single group pre- and post-test study aimed to examine kinematic changes in vertical jump performances before and after fatigue in basketball players. Material and Method: Ten male university student (age 23.28±1.31 years, height 181.17±6.87 cm, body weight 74.53±9.27 kg) basketball players voluntarily participated in the study. Vertical jump test was performed twice, once before fatigue and again after fatigue, and jump measurements were recorded with 2 cameras capable of shooting 240 frames per second. The vertical jumps were measured using a Smart Speed device. The recorded measurements were analyzed using a biomechanical analysis program, and the results were analyzed statistically. Each participant performed 5 resting jumps on the jump mat after warm-up, and the highest height reached was determined as the jump height. Next, the protocol for inducing fatigue was initiated without a period of rest, and the participants were asked to sprint 6x10 m, following which vertical jumps were performed 5 times without any break. The maximum value of each parameter obtained from among the 5 vertical jumps was used for analysis. The protocol for inducing fatigue was followed until the post-fatigue vertical jump parameter values were below 70% of the maximum values recorded before fatigue. Pre- and post-fatigue jump parameter values were statistically analyzed using the paired samples t-test. Results and Conclusion: Statistically significant differences were observed in knee flexion angle measurements before and after fatigue as well as in jump height measurements before and after fatigue (p<0.05). Therefore, it is believed that fatigue may be associated with a risk of knee joint injury in basketball players. Abstract Basketball players usually score points during the game using the jump shot. For this reason, the jump shot is considered to be the most important element of technique in basketball and requires a high level of performance. The aim of this study was to compare the biomechanical characteristics of the lower limbs during a jump shot without the ball and a countermovement jump without an arm swing. The differences between variables provide information about the potential that an athlete can utilise during a game when performing a jump shot. The study was conducted among 20 second-league basketball players by means of a Kistler force plate and the BTS SMART system for motion analysis. The variables measured included the take-off time, mean power, peak power, relative mean power, jump height, maximum landing force and calculated impact ratio. Surprisingly, more advantageous variables were found for the jump shot. This finding suggests a very high performance level in the jump shot in the studied group and a maximum utilisation of their motor abilities. Both types of jumps were characterised by high mean and peak power values and average heights. The high forces at landing, which result in considerable impact ratios, may have prompted the studied group to land softly. Use of the countermovement jump without an arm swing is recommended to assess and predict the progression of player’s jumping ability

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the static and dynamic balance in basketball students with an ankle injury history. Methods: Subjects of this study were 36 elementary school basketball male students who participated in this study purposefully and voluntarily. Subjects were divided into two groups of 18 people with an ankle injury and the control group without ankle injury. To measure the static balance from the stork test and the dynamic balance from the star test was used. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Shapiro-Wilk test and independent t-test) were used to analyze the results. Results: There was a significant difference between the static balance of basketball students and the control group (P=0.001), but no significant difference was found between basketball studentschr('39') dynamic balance with ankle injuries and the control group (P=0.0887). Conclusion: Based on research results, it can be concluded that lower limb injuries, especially ankle injuries they can influence postural control and static balance of basketball students and caused some functional disability. Also recommended coaches during the sports era of basketball players to design specific exercises to strengthen ankle muscles and ligaments and use static balance exercises not to witness this type of injury.

The aim of the study was to assess the functional condition in basketball players after a torsional injury of the ankle joint in relation to players without an ankle injury . The possible relationship between the injury and the functional condition of the player was examined. The research group consisted of 30 basketball players from the second league teams in Krakow, including 20 players after an ankle injury and 10 without the injury. The research was based on a survey and FMS and YBT tests. The calculations were carried out using Microsoft Excel 2013 and Statistica 10.0 programs. Student t-test and Pearson 's correlation coefficients were used to calculate the statistical significance (<0.5). The research has shown that better functional parameters achieved in tests were found in basketball players who did not have a torsional injury. Higher probability of a next ankle injury is characteristic of players who have suffered similar injuries before. Each player received physiotherapeutic help, which allowed the most of the players to return to training after one or two weeks after the injury. Conclusions: 1. An ankle joint injury has an influence on test results and contributes to the appearance of functional changes and subsequent injuries. 2. The results of the YBT test for the limb after an ankle torsion injury achieve a lower point value compared to the limb without the injury. 3. In the FMS test, better results are achieved by players without a torsional ankle injury.
