The history of formation of the Department of radiation diagnostics in Kazan state medical academy is tightly connected with the history of roentgenology in Kazan. The Department of radiation diagnostics celebrates its 90th anniversary being deeply and successfully involved in training of highly-skilled specialists - radiation diagnosticians - and in research activities. In 1920 in Kazan the Institute for Doctor’s Improvement was organized (nowadays it is named Kazan state medical academy). The Board of the Institute decided to organize laboratories and X-ray unit on the basis of therapeutic clinic. The first study was conducted by the rector himself, professor A.R. Lurija. In 1927 assistant professor R.Ja. Gasul’, professor M.I. Nemenov’s apprentice, invited from Leningrad was elected as the Head of the Department. During the last few years professors E.F. Rottermel’, D.E. Gol’dshtejn, M.H. Fajzullin were Heads of the Department and since 1982 till present professor M.K. Mikhajlov has been the Head of the Department of radiation diagnostics.

The history of the department of ophthalmology of the Kazan State Medical Academy for the 90-year period was analyzed. The department was founded in September, 1922. The reason for the foundation of the department was the trachoma that was rampant at that time in the Volga region. Academician V.V. Chirkovskiy (1874-1956), who headed the department from 1922 to 1928, was the founder and the first director of the first in USSR Trachoma Institution based in Kazan. From 1929 to 1932 professor Valentin Yemel’yanovich Adamyuk (1877-1950), the honoured Scientific researcher of the republic of Tatarstan was the head of the eye clinics of the medical academy and of the Scientific and Research Trachoma Institution. In 1932 professor, the honoured Scientific researcher of the republic of Tatarstan Alexandr Nikolaevich Murzin (1885-1954) has won the elections and headed the department. He secured the merging of the Scientific and Research Trachoma Institution and the eye clinics of the medical academy into the one institution. Thanks to the proper healthcare management and treatment and prevention measures trachoma was eliminated in republic of Tatarstan in 1964. Later, the department was chaired by Alexandr Nikiforovich Kruglov (1952-1964), Kamilya Islamovna Gafarova (1964-1967), Moisey Bencionovich Wufgart (1967-1987), Liyuda Bakhtigareevna Galiaskarova (1987-1996), Marina Vladimirovna Kuznetsova (1996-2012). Since March 2012 the department is headed by PhD, Principal out-of-staff ophthalmologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Aidar Nailevich Amirov. Nowadays the department staff completes over 5000 complicated eye microsurgeries yearly, and also consults the patients form Republic of Tatarstan and nearby regions with complicated cases of different eye diseases at the out-patients clinic and departments of the hospital.

The article «History of formation and activity of Council of Museums in museums of local history of the north-east of Kazakhstan in the 40-50s of the XX century» deals with the problem of organizing research in museums. The First All-Russian Museum Congress in 1931 contributed the transformation of museums from academic centers to cultural institutions and made scientific research impossible in museums. However, the lack of professionally trained personnel, the low level of scientific description of collections, construction of expositions, exhibitions, content of lectures and excursions, led to a gradual decline of the authority of museums. Based on the documents that were found in the funds of the State archives of Pavlodar region, Semipalatinsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, the authors convincingly prove the flawed and erroneous attitudes of the congress. The study used archival documents on the creation of Council of Museums, their personnel composition, and main activities. It is proved that the need to revive the research activities of museums has led to new forms and methods of organizing research work. Council of Museums in local history museums of the north-east of Kazakhstan were established in the late 1940s. There were difficulties in organization due to the lack of specialists who could work in the museum on a voluntary basis. They attracted employees of party, soviet, and trade union organizations who were educated as teachers of geography and history. In special cases, managers of agriculture and industry were included. The members of the Council worked in three directions corresponding to the structure of the departments of local history museums of that time: nature, history, industry and agriculture. The Council of the Pavlodar regional Museum of Local History was registered only formally, its members did not meet and did not take any part in the activities of the museum. This was explained by the insufficient number of professional personnel, due to the lack of higher educational institutions in the region, as well as the employment of specialists in the main job. A significant number of interested specialists lived in Semipalatinsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk, forming a group of local history activists there, which had a positive impact on the creation and work of Council of Museums. Members of the councils gave lectures in the museum, went on business trips to collect exhibits, were engaged in the preparation, examination and adjustment of thematic and exposition plans, preparation of collected materials for exhibition, helped to establish the relationship of museums with administrative, industrial and public organizations. Museum employees could not perform such work on their own, due to the lack of necessary professional competencies and time. Thus, we can conclude that it is necessary to include third-party workers of science and education in the museum councils. The governing bodies and museum workers felt a lack of specialists in various fields of knowledge. The staff of the museums consisted of people without secondary, and in most cases higher education. They did not have the skills of systematization and were not familiar with the scientific methods of collecting and processing museum materials. The decisions of the Council of Museums were not official, but they were very significant and necessary. Without their activities, the museum practice of the region would not be so effective and efficient.

The article casts light upon the creative path of an outstanding surgeon from Krasnoyarsk Region, a honorary professor of Prof. V.F. Voino-Yasenetsky Krasnoyarsk State Medical University dedicated to the 90th anniversary from the date of his birth (23 September 1931). Under M.I Gulman’s guidance in tandem with Yu.S. Vinnik, the scientific-practical school of surgeons of the Krasnoyarsk Region productively operating to the date was established, over 100 candidate theses and 23 doctoral theses have been defended. Marx Izrailevich Gulman was the founder of X-ray endovascular surgery in Krasnoyarsk and Krasnoyarsk Region. A total of 11 monographs, over 400 scientific papers on issues of abdominal surgery were written by the scientist, pedagogue and surgeon M.I. Gulman. The article presents the key information regarding his biography, milestones in the history of development of the Department of General Surgery within the period of 1980-2014. The most important scientific and practical achievements and awards are presented.

The Department of radiology and radiology with the course of ultrasound diagnostics of the Military Medical Academy celebrated its 90th anniversary. The Military Medical Academy was the first medical institution in Russia, which immediately after the discovery of x-rays formed the main directions of development of the discipline: research in the field of radiation physics, clinical direction and military radiology, as well as educational and methodological work. The basics of radiology were taught to 5th-year students at the Academy as early as 1897, two years after the discovery of x-rays by V. K. Roentgen. Since 1914, the first courses of military x-ray technicians were organized at the Academy, and in 1923 an independent course of radiology was introduced and the teaching of a new discipline was given a clinical orientation. Glorious traditions were formed at the Department solely due to a remarkable galaxy of scientists who worked within its walls and were at the origins of Russian clinical radiology. These are Professor Mikhail Isaevich Nemenov, academician of the AMN, Professor Georgy Artemyevich Zedgenidze, Professor Leonid Davidovich Lindenbraten, corresponding member of the AMN, Professor Albert Nikolaevich Kishkovsky and many other bright names. Over the years, the Department of radiology of the Academy became recognised as a major educational and scientific center for training and improvement of highly qualified professionals, not only medical institutions of the Ministry of defense of Russia, but also the health of the country. Currently, the staff of the Department is on the rise, carrying out high-level research activities and a complex of everyday radiation studies for the needs of the Academy’s clinics, medical institutions in St. Petersburg and the North-West region.

The article is devoted to the reconstruction of the history of international congress of comparative law, the principles and mechanisms for their organization, the evolution of their program, as well as intermediate congresses and other forms of the International Academy of Comparative Law activities. The dynamics and geography of the publication of works of Congress are analyzed. The author concludes that IACL congresses are the form of exercise big-scale international research projects, reconstructs their stages and principles, compares them with projects within other international organizations.

The article describes the prerequisites for the use of educational robotics in the school course of informatics, the history of the development of its directions and the normative basis for its use in modern school education. A typical model of an educational robotic project for the organization of research and project activities of students has been proposed. The technological chart of the lesson as an example of the implementation of a robotic project in the framework of the research activities on informatics is considered. Approaches to the organization of educational activities, teaching tools and ways of evaluation in informatics class on the theme “Information processes. Information transmission” when using the project approach are described.

A 42-year-old female presented in Neurology Department of Sir Salimullah Medical College with gradually worsening difficulty in talking and eating for the last four months. Examination revealed dystonic tongue, macerated lips due to continuous drooling of saliva and aspirated lungs. She had no history of taking antiparkinsonian, neuroleptics or any other drugs causing dystonia. Chest X-ray revealed aspiration pneumonia corrected later by antibiotics. She was treated with botulinum toxin type-A. Twenty units of toxin was injected in six sites of the tongue. The dystonic tongue became normal by 24 hours. Subsequent 16 weeks follow up showed very good result and the patient now can talk and eat normally. (J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2006; 24: 75-78)

AbstractX-ray topography provides a non-destructive method of mapping point-by-point variations in orientation and reflecting power within crystals. The discovery, made by several workers independently, that in nearly perfect crystals it was possible to detect individual dislocations by X-ray diffraction contrast started an epoch of rapid exploitation of X-ray topography as a new, general method for assessing crystal perfection. Another discovery, that of X-ray Pendellösung, led to important theoretical developments in X-ray diffraction theory and to a new and precise method for measuring structure factors on an absolute scale. Other highlights picked out for mention are studies of Frank-Read dislocation sources, the discovery of long dislocation helices and lines of coaxial dislocation loops in aluminium, of internal magnetic domain structures in Fe-3 wt.% Si, and of stacking faults in silicon and natural diamonds.
