The article presents results of an empirical study of the relationship between school anxiety and motivation of learning activity at the stage of adaptation in students of 5th classes. The study involved 82 students of Bryansk state school aged 10—11 years, 46 boys and 36 girls. The techniques used in the study included Phillips' school anxiety test and M.R.Ginsburg’s technique for studying learning motivation. The obtained data was analysed using the methods of mathematical statistics (Mann-Whitney criterion and Pearson's criterion). As it was revealed, play motives of learning activity are associated with fear of not meeting the expectations of others and with low physiological resistance to stress.Positional motives are correlated with an individual’s fear of self-expression, of not meeting the expectations of others, with problems and fears in relationships with teachers, with the general level of school anxiety, with learning and social motives. The results of the study can be used by school counselor to reduce school anxiety and increase learning motivation of schoolchildren.

Responsible human behaviour in life involves overcoming diffi culties, taking on additional responsibilities, which is accompanied by considerable willpower. However, to date, the relationship between the locus of control and the ability to volitional effort has not been fully studied. This article presents the results of the authors‘ correlation and regression analysis of the relationship between the locus of control and willpower in students – future teachers. The empirical study was attended by university students studying in pedagogic areas of training. As a result of the study, a positive statistically signifi cant relationship was established between the level of general internality of students and the generalised indicator of willpower. Statistically signifi cant correlations between the level of willpower and the level of subjective control in the fi eld of achievements, failures, and family relationships are revealed. It is determined that willpower is a predictor of the general level of internality of students-teachers, as well as their internality in the fi eld of achievements, failures, and family relationships. It is shown that students with a high level of subjective control statistically signifi cantly outperform students with a low level of subjective control in the generalised indicator of willpower.

This research aims to find out the relationship between critical thinking skills and students’ learning motivation in the excretory system content. The research employs a descriptive method with correlation approach. The research population includes students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri of a school in Jakarta Timur, Indonesia. Sampling is conducted using multi-stage sampling. Samples used are 95 students of Grade IX. The research instruments consist of critical thinking skill test and learning motivation questionnaire. Data analysis uses regression analysis technique. The regression equation is compiled and tested with variance analysis using ANOVA table with F-test. The multiple regression hypothesis testing carries out by compiling multiple regression equation and testing using variance analysis with t-test. The research results indicate pxy, means that there is a correlation between critical thinking and learning motivation. The research recommendation is that the excretory system learning activity empowers critical thinking so that it improves motivation to learn the excretory system.
