Abstract Traditionally, people with disabilities have been excluded from the workplace despite they want to work, and their disabilities do not prevent them from doing so. They still suffer from stigmatization and this inequitable treatment, together with the lack of societal support, put their career development at risk. Through a bibliometric analysis, the study reviews more than 1.900 articles published in the last 50 years. It provides an overview of the topics analysed in relation to employment and disability. Thus, this study uncovers the areas that are receiving more attention based on the articles published in the last years. The results highlight that the topic remains relegated to journal directly connected with disabilities, which indicates a little acknowledgment of people with disabilities and their labour development. The evolution of studies has been congruent so that three differentiated periods have been identified, from merely legislation to social recognition.

This empirical study contributes towards identifying the effect of social exclusion on labor market integration of people with disabilities in Romania. Certain categories of individuals with disabilities have longer unemployment duration than others and this empirical study is focused on identifying which variables have a significant influence on exit to job hazard on Romanian labor market. The significant gap between employees without disabilities and employees with disabilities in the Romanian labor market can be explain based on certain influential factors such as: Lower productivity levels, higher training costs, differentiated work schedules, special demands, higher risk of work injuries and work-related accidents, etc. The findings reveal the lack of statistical significance for the differences between median survival time and hazard rates of disabled individuals, a function of their disability. Moreover, our results show that only an age and unemployment allowance has had a significant effect on unemployment duration and exit to a job hazard of educated individuals with disabilities.

The research of descriptive nature had as instruments the Inventory of Conceptions of Disability at Work Situations (ICD-ST) and half-structured interview, with people without disability. The sample was composed of 37 students, from the classroom courses of Post-Graduation of UNITAU, who work with PcD. The results obtained from the relationship between these students and PcDs, point out that the construct “normality” was the most pointed one, showing thus, that there is a tendency of social exclusion of PcD; however, it is important to the companies, to hire PcD, because they obtain benefits to their images. During the interviews, despite the interaction showed good quality, it could be concluded that on the integration of the collected data the vision of people without disability, which prevails over the PcD, is that they should remain segregated, not so much by their limitations, but mainly, as related, because the companies trying to accomplish the Quotas defined by law, forget the need of adaptations and awareness to better receive them at the companies. Keywords: People with Disabilities. Difference/disability is associated with limitations in social contacts and the risk of social exclusion. Charity and philanthropy not only are an opportunity for people with disabilities but also pose a threat. The article deals with “positive” and “negative” charities, as well as ethical guidance to these activities. The text asks about the 21st century model of NGOs support for people at risk of social exclusion.
