A 15-year-old patient is presented with 11 impacted teeth including 2 supernumerary teeth, who did not exhibit hereditary or clinical disease. The patient showed the extruded and lingually inclined lower incisors, the anteriorly inclined palatal plane, extremely large curve of Spee, and crowding in the bone. A detailed description of the positional relationship between each impacted tooth and the neighboring tooth was given using the 3D CT-image.

Introduction: The objective of this clinical case report is to describe the presence of bilateral fourth molars. The occurrence of supernumerary teeth (ST) is a relatively unusual dental anomaly., It is even more unusual to find patients with distomolar teeth also denominated fourth molar teeth. Presentation of the case: This article describes a clinical case of a 24-year-old patient presenting with a maxillary fourth molar, who was diagnosed by dental x-ray, and surgical resolution of the case. Conclusion: Tooth extraction surgery was the clinical procedure chosen to treat the impacted tooth.

Abstract Aim The aims of this report are to present a case of nonsyndromic multiple supernumerary teeth and a discussion of the value of three-dimensional computerized tomography (3D CT) for precise radiographic imaging of the anomaly. Background Multiple supernumerary teeth without any associated syndromes are very rare. Exact radiographic presentations with an associated diagnosis of nonsyndromic multiple supernumerary teeth have not been well published. Report A young Chinese female patient presented with asymmetrical nonsyndromic multiple supernumerary teeth in the premolar and molar regions of her mouth. A 3D CT was used to evaluate the exact location and orientation of these teeth and to guide the treatment strategy. Summary The use of 3D CT for the evaluation of supernumerary teeth proved to be very useful in determining their size, location, and state of development, as well as their impact on adjacent teeth and tissues in a 15-year-old patient. Clinical Significance The 3D CT is a very useful radiological tool to assess nonsyndromic multiple supernumerary teeth. Citation Wang W, Wang X, Wang, T. Supernumerary teeth and odontomas are obstacles for spontaneous tooth eruption and may result in impaction. The aim of the study is to present a conservative treatment approach for impacted teeth following surgical obstruction removal by reviewing three treatment modalities: surgery only, which involves the surgical removal of the obstruction and the spontaneous eruption; surgery with immediate traction, which includes surgery combined with immediate active orthodontic brace cementation and traction; and surgery with delayed traction, which combines a surgical procedure of obstacle removal and orthodontic brace cementation with follow-up for the spontaneous eruption. The first two modalities require orthodontic traction either by an additional surgical procedure for orthodontic brace cementation, or combined with the surgical obstacle removal. With the third approach, clinical follow-up is performed via connected ligature wire elongation applied during the surgical procedure for the spontaneous emergence of the impacted tooth. Active orthodontic traction is only employed if the tooth fails to erupt. The visual follow-up via wire elongation serves as a reference during the emergence of the impacted teeth and reduces the need for radiographic examination. The surgical-orthodontic approach saves both further surgery and orthodontics (spontaneous eruption) or further surgery (in failure to erupt).

Introduction: Maxillary canines are usually impacted teeth the second after third molar. Frequency of impacted maxillary canines is about 1 to 3% of population (in 85% of the cases palataly, and in 15% of the cases bucaly). The aim of this research was to find the frequency of bucal and palatal impacted maxillary canines in relation to sex and position of impacted tooth. Matherial and method: We analyzed three-dimensional computed tomography images (CBCT) of 64 examinees (aged 12 to 33 years) with 80 unerupted maxillary canines to plan the orthodontic therapy. Results: Among 64 examines with impactions, 80 impacted maxillary canines are diagnosed. The average age of all respondents in the survey is 16,3±4,3. Of 64 examinees in research 41(64.1%) were female which is significantly more important than the representation of male examinees whose number was 23(35.9%). Frequency of unilateral impactions of maxillary canines is three times higher 48 (75%) in comparison to bilateral impactions 16 (25%). Of total 80 impacted maxillary canines 19 (23.75%) were bucal impacted, 3 (2.75%) in the middle of alveolus and 58 (72.5%) palatally. With the bucal and palatal impaction usually was represented partially vertical impaction (70%); completely horizontal impaction (10%) was represented only in the palatal impaction. Conclusion: The analysis of CBCT images of maxilla shows a statistically significant frequency of partially vertical, unilateral and paltally localized impacted maxillary canines.

AbstractTo determine accuracy of patient-specific instrumentation (PSI), the preoperative three-dimensional (3D) plan should be superimposed on the postoperative 3D image to compare prosthetic alignment. We aimed to compare prosthetic alignment on a preoperative 3D computed tomography (CT) plan and postoperative 3D-CT image, and evaluate the accuracy of PSI during total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Thirty consecutive knees (30 patients) who underwent TKA using PSI were retrospectively evaluated. The preoperative plan was prepared using 3D CT acquisitions of the hip, knee, and ankle joints. The postoperative 3D CT image obtained 1 week after surgery was superimposed onto the preoperative 3D plan using computer software. Differences in prosthetic alignment between the preoperative and postoperative images were measured using six parameters: coronal, sagittal, and axial alignments of femoral and tibial prostheses. Differences in prosthetic alignment greater than 3 degrees were considered outliers. Two observers performed all measurements. All parameters were repeatedly measured over a 4-week interval. This measurement method's intraobserver and interobserver reliabilities were more than 0.81 (very good). For the femoral and tibial prostheses, absolute differences between the preoperative and postoperative 3D CT images were significantly larger in the sagittal than in the coronal and axial planes (p < 0.001). The outlier rate for the sagittal alignment of femoral and tibial prostheses was significantly higher than that for the alignment of coronal and axial planes (p < 0.001). However, there were no significant differences in the range of motion (ROM) before and after TKA when comparing cases with and without outliers in the sagittal plane. Even though the present study did not reveal any issues with the ROM that depended on the presence of an outlier, accurate verification of prosthetic alignment for individual PSI models may be necessary because the designs, referenced images, and accuracy are different in each model.

Introduction: Impacted teeth is complex anomaly of teeth eruption that requires a balanced approach not only in the differential diagnosis of its forms, but choice of rational methods of treatment. The aim: Optimization of the tactics of orthodontic-surgical treatment of patients with impacted teeth based on the development and implementation of computed tomographic indices (KT) and photometric indices (FM) of opening of surgical access (OSA) to crowns of impacted teeth Materials and methods: The results of treatment of 48 patients with delay of permanent teeth eruption have been analyzed. For an objective assessment of treatment results, a group of 24 (aged from 9 to 19 years old ) was formed. All 24 patients had typical clinical situation. Results: Orthodontic correction of patients envisaged, first of all, the elimination of obstacles in the way of teeth eruption, if necessary to provide space in dental arch and simultaneous treatment of associated bite malocclusions. Surgical exposure of impacted tooth crown was carried out and at the same time a triangular shaped guiding channel was formed, base of channel was at the impacted tooth and its angle finished into the dental arch. Precise dimensions and depth of the channel were preliminary planed on computed tomography slices with 3D reconstruction. Mean values of CT width (7,13±0,54mm), and length (6,42±0,78mm) of OSA and CT index (130,79±8,19%) of OSA to impacted teeth crowns were determined. Conclusion: To improve the quality of diagnosis and optimization of methodological approaches to treatment of patients with teeth impaction, we have proposed CT and FM OSA indices to the crowns of impacted teeth. The developed indices serve as specific reference points for optimization of diagnostic process, for reducing of probability of repeated surgical interventions and choosing the optimal path for instrumental orthodontic treatment of patients with impacted teeth

We present our results of 3D CT/MRI brachytherapy (BT) planning in 115 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer T2b-3bN0-1M0. The aim of this study was to assess the differences in the visualization of tumor target volumes and risk organs during the 3D CT/MRI BT. The results of the study revealed that the use of MRI imaging for dosimetric planning of dose distribution for a given volume of a cervical tumor target was the best method of visualization of the soft tissue component of the tumor process in comparison with CT images, it allowed to differentially visualize the cervix and uterine body, directly the tumor volume. Mean D90 HR-CTV for MRI was 32.9 cm3 versus 45.9 cm3 for CT at the time of first BT, p = 0.0002, which is important for local control of the tumor process. The contouring of the organs of risk (bladder and rectum) through MRI images allows for more clearly visualizing the contours, which statistically significantly reduces the dose load for individual dosimetric planning in the D2cc control volume, і.є. the minimum dose of 2 cm3 of the organ of risk: D2cc for the bladder was 24.3 Gy for MRI versus 34.8 Gy on CT (p = 0.045); D2cc for the rectum - 18.7 Gy for MRI versus 26.8 Gy for CT (p = 0.046). This is a prognostically important stage in promising local control, which allows preventing manifestation of radiation damage.

Abstract Purpose To report our experience using endoscopic intranasal incision reduction (EIIR) for nasal fractures and to assess effectiveness of the method. Methods 30 patients who underwent EIIR were retrospectively analysed. All the patients were examined by three-dimensional computed tomography (3D CT), acoustic rhinometry and rhinomanometry, preoperatively and postoperatively at 1 month. The visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to assess the preoperative aesthetics and nasal airflow satisfaction and at 1, 3 and 6 months postoperatively. VAS aesthetic satisfaction was also scored by two junior doctors. Results 3D CT showed that the fracture fragments fitted well in 30 patients postoperatively at 1 month. VAS aesthetics and nasal airflow scores were significantly improved postoperatively at 1, 3 and 6 months compared with preoperative scores (P < 0.01). The VAS aesthetic scores from the two surgeons were also significantly improved (P < 0.01). The minimal cross-sectional area increased from 0.39 ± 0.13 to 0.64 ± 0.13 (P < 0.001), the nasal volume increased from 4.65 ± 0.86 to 6.37 ± 0.94 (P < 0.001) and the total inspiratory airway resistance of the bilateral nasal cavity median decreased from 0.467 Pa/mL/s to 0.193 Pa/mL/s (P < 0.001). There were no technique-related intraoperative complications. Conclusion EIIR was a practical choice, and the aesthetics and nasal airflow were significantly improved in patients with overlapped and displaced bone fragments, patients with fractures of the frontal process of the maxilla (FFPM), patients who underwent failed CR and patients beyond the optimal temporal window.

ABSTRACTAdenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a rare tumor comprising only 3% of all odontogenic tumors. It is a benign, encapsulated, noninvasive, nonaggressive, slowly growing odontogenic lesion associated with an impacted tooth. These lesions may go unnoticed for years. The usual treatment is enucleation and curettage, and the lesion does not recur. Here, we present a rare case of an unusually large aggressive AOT of maxilla associated with impacted third molar. The authors also discuss clinical, radiographic, histopathologic, and therapeutic features of the case. Subtotal maxillectomy with simultaneous reconstruction of the surgical defect with temporalis myofascial flap was planned and carried out.
