The financial statements serve as a benchmark in assessing the financial performance of the company as the basis for making business decisions. The motivation in conducting this research is to support previous research to see the development condition of one of the oil palm plantation companies. The purpose of this study is to assess the financial performance by using financial ratio analysis and horizontal analysis. The method used in this research is Quantitative Descriptive with analysis design using Term series Analysis. The result of the research based on financial ratio analysis shows the liquidity ratio and solvency ratio in good condition, while the activity ratio and profitability ratio are not good because it is below the industry average of similar companies. Based on horizontal analysis, financial performance fluctuated and influenced internal and external factors such as operational performance and the average price of world palm oil. The limitations of this study are using only two analytical tools and financial statements analyzed only the balance sheet and income statement.

SYNOPSIS Proposed changes by the FASB and the IASB to lease accounting standards will substantially change the accounting for operating leases by requiring the capitalization of future lease payments. We consider the impact of these changes on firms' debt covenants by examining the frequency of income-statement- versus balance-sheet-based accounting ratios in debt covenants of firms in high and low Off Balance Sheet (OBS) lease industries. Based on debt contracts from the 1996–2009 period, our results provide evidence that lenders focus on balance sheet (income statement) ratios in designing debt covenants for borrowers in low (high) OBS lease industries. Further, the use of balance-sheet- (income-statement-) based covenants falls (rises) faster in high OBS lease industries than in low OBS lease industries as the use of OBS leasing increases. This evidence indicates that OBS operating leases influence lenders' use of accounting information in covenants, suggesting that creditors consider the impact of OBS leases when structuring debt agreements. These results also suggest that the proposed capitalization of OBS leases may not result in firms violating loan covenants but will make the balance sheet a more complete source of information for debt contracting by removing the need for constructive capitalization of OBS leases.

This qualitative study with a case study research scheme is aimed to find out the factors influencing accounting students’ understanding of the English terminology in accounting reports (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement). The sample is the first semester students of the Accounting Department of Faculty Economics and Business, Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya academic year 2020-2021. The understanding of English terminology in accounting reports can help the students in preparing themselves for Free Trade in a disruptive era. The analysis of this study is using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study are the description of the factors influencing accounting students’ understanding of the English terminology in accounting reports as for the first semester students this specific terminology may cause confusion which leads to misunderstanding.

This project is intended to teach students to apply the material covered in their first graduate accounting course. This is accomplished by applying the material to an actual company selected by each team. The project is described as follows: The project includes a computerized spreadsheet preparation of a master budget forecast for an actual publicly traded company for one year into the future. . The dates depend upon when the annual reports are prepared for your company. The forecast begins the day following the last available published annual report. The forecast does not comprise any actual numbers regardless of when the actual annual or quarterly statements are prepared for the company selected. The actual balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flow from the preceding year are included with the forecasted balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flow. The company must have a physical inventory, and accounts receivable from sales. The company may not be one in which any team member(s) are employed. The forecast will include the following items:1. Introduction, including the history of the company and a description of the company plan and policies as given in the project2. Sales budget (twelve months).3. Schedule of purchases (twelve months).4. Schedule of collection of credit sales (accounts receivable) and cash sales (twelve months).5. Cash budget (twelve months).6. An Income statement (for the current year and the projected year).7. A Balance sheet (for the current year and the projected year).8. This paper examines how Shinepukur holdings ltd is going well or not? The major operations of the company are related to the development of lands and building apartments. Its operating performance is now going down because of the inefficient strategy formulation. The company cannot use its resources in full swings. Real estate customers purchase land or apartments on credit. Sometimes they fail to pay with in due time. Identifying the projects which customers will pay their credit within short term is important in this business. This policy is not followed by shinepukur. Moreover Managers had taken some unprofitable projects which brought negative return for the company. The company’s core businesses are Apartment project and Land project. Competition in real estate industry is increasing day by day. After du-point analysis, we have found that company’s performance is very much sensitive to its profit margin. In the valuation part we have found the company’s present of equity per share is negative where share market price is 28.50 taka in the last trading day of 2015. This figure indicates market price of share is overvalued. Investors should not buy this company’s share. In prospectus analysis we have made forecast for next three years income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement on the basis of common size statement analysis.

Business students are generally introduced to LIFO and FIFO in their first accounting course. However, that introduction generally focuses exclusively on computing ending inventory and cost of goods sold.  Students are rarely challenged to compute or analyze the impacts of LIFO and FIFO on the income statement, balance sheet, or cash flow statement.  This paper presents a hypothetical case designed to provide a framework within which students can compute, analyze, and discuss the financial statement impacts and economic impacts of choosing one or the other of these accounting methods.  The questions in this case also address the effects of this choice on financial indicators like liquidity ratios, the impacts of each method on quality of earnings, and the potential impacts of IFRS convergence on companies that are currently using LIFO.One important feature of this case is its adaptability to support a variety of learning outcomes in different courses.  This flexibility results from making the questions posed in the case as independent of each other as possible.  That independence allows a professor to select only the questions that support the learning outcomes for that professor’s specific course.  The teaching notes discuss in detail possible course applications and uses of this case.

Although other comprehensive income did not exist in the conceptual framework until 2018, it has been a part of IFRS for many years, and it has not been defined based on accounting theory. This paper considers arguments for the current use of other comprehensive income under IFRS and finds that matching and prudence are at the core of other comprehensive income in IFRS despite not being elements of the conceptual framework. This suggests that the concept of other comprehensive income exists because the IFRS standards are founded on a mix of balance sheet-based and income statement-based accounting principles. Based on the characteristics of other comprehensive income and the IASB's arguments for the recognition of gains and losses in other comprehensive income, this paper proposes a definition of other comprehensive income that can be used to ensure a uniform application of the concept across accounting standards and to reduce risks of inconsistency.

ABSTRACT This paper examines the value relevance of voluntary disclosures about intangibles in eight East Asian countries, and the effect of variation in company-level and country-level governance on the valuation of these disclosures. Using Easton and Sommers' (2003) deflated valuation approach in analyses involving 459 companies, we find that the voluntary disclosures are value relevant, over and above the numbers in the balance sheet and income statement. We also find that the value relevance of these disclosures is conditional on the level of director ownership and the strength of the institutional features of a country.
