Abstract:Description Alternative: Abstract: The students 'reading ability is low, it certainly affects the students' writing ability. Implementation of the School Literacy Movement at the stage of habituation to reading, the lack of assistance in extracurricular reading clubs that are scheduled at the State Junior High School 5 Malang. This study aims to foster students' character through the culture of school literacy that embodies the Implementation of the School Literacy Movement so that students of SMP Negeri 5 Malang become lifelong learners. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type that describes the School Literacy Movement in State Junior High School 5 Malang by using data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that: 1) The habituation phase was carried out by way of students bringing reading books from home or borrowing books to the library. At this stage a class reading corner was prepared, reading 15 minutes before learning began, and a literacy journal; 2) The Development and Learning Phase increases the school resources especially at the State Junior High School 5 Malang, namely the existence of a reading corner in each class, an increase in the number of books, a 30-minute reading club, and a product of the School Literacy Movement.Keywords: School Literacy Movement, Habituation, Development, and Learning Abstrak: Kemampuan membaca peserta didik tergolong rendah pasti berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis peserta didik. Implementasi Gerakan Literasi Sekolah pada tahap pembiasaan minat baca, kurangnya pendampingan pada ekstrakurekuler club baca yang di agendakan di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 5 Malang.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkembangkan budi pekerti peserta didik melalui pembudayaan literasi sekolah yang mewujudkan dalam Implementasi Gerakan Literasi Sekolah supaya peserta didik SMP Negeri 5 Malang menjadi pembelajar sepanjang hayat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif yang mendeksripsikan Gerakan Literasi Sekolah di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 5 Malang dengan  menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: 1) Tahap Pembiasaan dilaksanakan dengan cara peserta didik membawa buku bacaan dari rumah atau meminjam buku ke perpustakaan. Pada tahap ini sudah disiapkan pojok baca kelas, membaca 15 menit sebelum pembelajaran dimulai, dan jurnal literas; 2) Tahap Pengembangan dan Pembelajaran meningkatkan sumber daya sekolah khusnya di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 5 Malang yaitu adanya pojok baca di masing-masing kelas, penambahan jumlah buku, adanya club baca 30 menit, dan hasil produk Gerakan Literasi Sekolah. This thesis was concerned with the inquiry on the correlations among learning motivation, self-confidence, and writing ability of the seventh grade students at State Junior High School of Lubai Ulu Sub-District of Muaraenim Regency. The problem of the study was to investigate the correlation among students’ learning motivation, self-confidence, and writing ability. The total number of the population were 474 students. The sample for this study was 83 students taken through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected by adopting a questionnaire for learning motivation, self-confidence, and test for writing ability. Data were analyzed by using r-Product Moment and Multiple Regression. Finding showed that: (1) there was significant correlation between learning motivation and writing ability; (2) there was not any significant correlation between self-confidence and writing ability; (3) there was not any significant correlation between learning motivation and self-confidence; (4) there were significant correlations among learning motivation, self-confidence, and writing ability of seventh grade-students at state Junior High School of Lubai Ulu Muaraenim.

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan menulis peserta didik Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Minggir, Sleman, Yogyakarta melalui penggunaan kontekstualisasi pemebelajaran menulis. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini melibatkan 32 orang peserta didik sebagai subjek penelitian dan seorang guru bahasa Inggris sebagai kolaborator peneliti.  Jenis penelitian ini dikategorikan ke dalam bentuk penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menerapkan tiga siklus selama pelaksanaan pengambilan data penelitian. Terdapat tiga jenis teknik pengumpulan data penelitian yang digunakan, yakni teknik observasi kelas, wawancara, dan penyebaran kuesioner yang selanjutnya diikuti dengan kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan yang dimaksudkan untuk mendeskripsikan data kualitatif yang diperoleh dari pengumpulan data di lapangan. Analisis deskriptif kuantitatif  juga digunakan untuk menyajikan kemampuan menulis peserta didik yang diperoleh melalui tes menulis teks-teks bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, disampikan empat temuan utama. Pertama, penggunaan  teknik kontekstualisasi pembelajaran menulis mengubah tingkah laku peserta didik dalam hal motivasi belajar menulis teks-teks bahasa Inggris dan keterlibatan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran menulis yang sebekumnya peserta terlihat pasif menjadi aktif. Kedua, sebagian besar peserta didik merasa mudah dalam mengekspresikan gagasan dengan mengacu pada kontekstualisasi tugas-tugas menulis teks-teks bahasa Inggris yang disampaikan. Ketiga, miskonsepsi dan kesalahan gramatikal dapat diminimasi dalam proses mengkonstruksi teks-teks bahasa Inggris. Keempat, dengan mengacu pada data kuantitatif, skor rerata dari isi, pengorganisasian paragraf, pemilihan kosakata, penggunaan bahasa, dan aspek penulisan mengalami peningkatan yang cukup tajam. Kata kunci: kontekstualisasi, pengetahuan skematik, kemampuan menulis AbstractThis study is aimed at improving students’ writing ability of junior high school at Minggir, Sleman, Yogyakarta Minggir, Sleman, Yogyakarta through contextualization practices. To gain the objective, this study voluntarily involved 32 students of junior high school at Minggir, Sleman, Yogyakarta as the subjects of this study and one English language teacher serving as the collaborator. This study applied a classroom action research design with the utilization of three cycles during the data collection practices. Techniques of observation, interview, and questionnaire distribution were employed to gather data followed by data condensation, data display, and conclusion making which were meant to qualitatively analyze the gathered data. Quantitative descriptive analysis was also employed to analyze students’ writing ability with the employment of writing test. The findings document four issues. First, there was a change of behavior on the part of students in the area of motivation to learn and involvement in writing practices. Second, the majority of students found easier to express their ideas in reference to the contextualization practices applied by English language teachers. Third, mis-conception and grammatical mistakes could be minimized in the process of constructing English texts. Fourth, with regard to quantitative data, the average scores of the content, paragraph organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics increased sharply. Key words : contextualization, schematic knowledge, writing ability

English is an important thing to learn by students, because English is an international language. However, English learning in nine grade of eLKISI Junior High School has not been optimally. There are several obstacles that cause learning English to be less than optimal. Such as lack students motivation, limited learning hours, and inexperienced teachers. To solve these problems it is necessary to make product of learning media in the form of android-based applications. Android-based applications are commonly used so that Android-based applications will be easy to use by people. The product contains English narrative text lessons for class IX in Junior High School. Development uses Adobe Flash CS6 software to produce interesting learning media equipped with animation, images and sound. This research and development use the ADDIE development design model. Development products are reviewed by material experts, instructional media experts and learning designs, and tested by students (small groups and large groups), as well as field trials (tryout). The use of applications is done with a variety of places, it can be concluded that the use of applications can be done at any moment. In terms of ease of use of the application, all respondents answered that there were no difficulties.

The objectives of this research are to find out whether there is any significant of students in teaching  writing recount text between before and after by using My Simple Show and how the student’s perception towards the use of this application in teaching writing recount text. The method used is quantitative by using a pre-experimental design and questionnaire, To get data, the researcher gave a Pre-test, and Post-test to students. Based on the result of the research, there are some research that can be represented. First, there is significance of My Simple Show to write recount text. Second, the students perception of My Simple Show to increase recount text. Based on the result of this research, the researcher hope can help the students to increase writing ability in recount text by using this application, and give more motivation to be creative.

The current study investigates the interference of L1 (Indonesian) into L2 (English) and the errors that occur due to the influence of TL (target language). The focus of the study is on the errors committed by these EFL students in writing narrative text and emphasized on interlingual errors and intralingual errors. The objectives of the study are to investigate the errors committed by these EFL students in order to findout; (1) the types of interlingual errors and intralingual errors in Junior High School, Senior High School and University, (2) the frequencies of interlingual errors and intralingual errors in Junior High School, Senior High School and University, and (3) the similarities and differences of interlingual errors and intralingual errors in Junior High School, Senior High School and niversity. The researcher used Qualitative descriptive as the method design and writing test as the data collecting technique. The data was erroneous sentences found in the students’ narrative writing. The subjects of the study comprised 30 eight grade of SMP Muhammadiyah Pekalongan, East Lampung and 30 eleven grade SMKN 1 Pekalongan, East Lampung, and 30 fourth-year students of English Department of University of Muhammadiyah, Metro Lampung. The findings of the study suggest: (1) The types of interlingual errors andintralingual errors made by SMP, SMK and University students divided into 2 levels, they are morphological level and syntactical level. (2) the frequent of interlingual errors in Junior High School 36 cases (30.26%), in Vocation High School 39 cases (36.77%) and 9 cases (10.98%) in University. The frequent of intralingual errors in Junior High School 83 cases (69.74%), in Senior High School 70 cases (64.23%) and 73 cases (89.02%) in University, and (3) The similarities of interlingual errors and intralingual errors found in Junior High School, Vocation High School and University are 2 types. In morphological level, they are the use of L1 structures and omission of BE in nominal sentences. There are also 2 types in syntactical level, they are the use of present BE in past event and the use of present Verb in past event. The differencesof interlingual errors and intralingual errors found in SMP, SMK and University are (1) in SMP there are 8 types errors that found in the students’ writing, (2) 3 types of errors in SMK, and (3) 2 types of errors found in University.

This present research focuses on two purposes: they are to find out the application of Vladimir Propp’s theory on narrative text models used in Junior High School Textbooks and the authenticity of narrative text models used in Junior high school textbooks. To answer the first research question, the theory is used to analyze the data through document analysis and the second research question answered by comparing the analyses of the text models of JHS textbooks and the authentic texts. The data were four narrative text models taken from four junior high school textbooks that contain narrative texts and the storybook as an example of authentic text. The result showed that the theory was generally applicated on narrative text models used in Junior High School and all of them are belong to not authentic. Three of them are the simplification of the authentic texts and the other is created text. This was caused by context of used (classroom), cultural context and students level of knowledge

Based on the study on cooperative learning in the writing class and the analysis of the results of the mid term and final writing exams of the second year junior students in the Dazhou Middle School, this thesis focuses on the effectiveness of group work i n the development of junior middle school students’ ability of process writing. The research is conducted with the goal to find out more effective ways for teachers to enhance junior high school students’ process writing ability the ability of analyzing and handling learning materials, cooperating with group members, creating new ideas and summarizing the ideas of the group.
