Internet of things (IoT) and data-driven techniques are producing greater prospects for smart dairying. The demand for milk is unceasingly increasing because of the rising population of the globe. The employment of dairy products is more in developed countries as compared to developing countries. To fulfill this increased demand for milk products, better technological techniques for improving milk yield are required. It’s foreseeable that the use of IoT and different AI techniques can lend a hand to a farmer to beat different conventional farming challenges and increase milk production. During this research, the authors give a talk about different challenges that a dairy farmer has to countenance in their way of life. A brief introduction of smart dairying (SDF) is presented with relevancy to the modernization in production and therefore the processes of smart dairy farming. This review concentrates on different facets of smart dairying, and at last, a state-of-the-art framework that can aid the farmers to extend the milk yield by using different up-to-the-minute technologies has been proposed. These high-tech methods can reduce the factors negatively upsetting milk production and increase that positively heartrending production with trifling resources.

The demand for milk is continuously increasing due to increasing population of the world. The consumption of the dairy products is more in developed countries as compared to developing countries. To meet this increased demand for milk products, better technological techniques for improving milk yield are required. It is expected that the use of IoT and different AI techniques can assist a farmer to overcome different traditional farming challenges and increase the milk production. In this research, the authors address different challenges that a dairy farmer has to face in daily life. Brief introduction of smart dairy farming (SDF) is presented with respect to the innovation in production and the processes of smart dairy farming. This review focuses on different aspects of smart dairy farming, and finally a state-of-the-art framework that can assist the farmers to increase the milk yield by using different latest technologies has been proposed. These technological methods can decrease the factors negatively affecting milk production and increase those positively affecting production with minimal resources.

A desirable option for increasing milk yield per farm is to increase milk production in summer without compromising peak-season production or the duration of lactation. The dairy industry has a goal to achieve a 4% per month post-peak decline of milk production. The effect of five pasture types and two summer water regimes on predicted farm milk yield, in Northland, Waikato, Manawatu and Canterbury was measured over 1 year. Two pasture treatments, resident pasture and Grasslands Nui ryegrass, were common to all sites. A third pasture treatment varied between sites: triple mix (Grasslands Advance tall fescue, Grasslands Kara cocksfoot, and Grasslands Maru phalaris) at the Manawatu site; the same triple mix but with Grasslands Raki paspalum at the Northland site; and low-endophyte ryegrass and Grasslands Kahu timothy (LER) at the Canterbury site; all sown treatments included red and white clover. All five pasture types were included at the Waikato site. On average for all pasture types, water deficit reduced summer herbage accumulation (HA) to 79, 68, 43 and 18% of irrigated controls, and annual HA to 88, 80, 73 and 63% of irrigated controls in Northland, Waikato, Manawatu and Canterbury, respectively. Since farm milk yield predicted by UDDER was highly correlated with annual HA (R2 = 83%), the effects of pasture type and water deficit on milk yield were similar to effects on HA. Seasonal and annual HA differed among the five pasture types at each of the four sites. The most important factor affecting predicted farm milk yield was annual HA, with relatively little effect from the seasonal pattern of pasture growth. Differences in shapes of the predicted milk supply curves for various treatments occurred, particularly when drought forced early drying-off. The best predicted summer milk yield was for the Canterbury irrigated LER pasture treatment, a 6.8% per month postpeak decline of milk production. Reproduction and milk production are the principal factors that are influencing dairy farm profitability. The dairy industry in Iran has changed dramatically in the last decade. The shift toward more productive cows and larger herds in Iran is associated with a decrease reproductive efficiency (Heravi Moussavi et al., 2004). Increased knowledge about the principal causes of reduced fertility is essential. The root cause of the declining fertility is probably a combination of a variety of physiological and management factors that have an additive effect on reproductive efficiency. Dairy cattle are inseminated and pregnancy is established while dairy cows are lactating. Based on the analyses of large datasets, there is clearly an antagonistic relationship between milk production and reproduction in dairy cattle (Lucy, 2001). It was shown that the hazard ratio for cumulative first 60-day milk yield and conception in high producer cows was 8 percent less than the others and also high milk yield was a risk factor for several reproductive disorders (Grohn and Rajala-Schultz, 2000). The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of first 60-day cumulative milk yield on days open in Iranian Holstein dairy cows.

State of the art milk production encourages an intensive system of maximising peak milk yield and minimising calving interval, epitomized by the 40 kg peak daily production and 10,000 kg 305 d lactation yield of a well bred, well fed Holstein. Given good management, milk yield typically declines at approximately 2% per week. It requires only a simple calculation to show, therefore, that this same cow would still be yielding around 20 kg of milk daily at 2 months before calving. The dilemma for the farmer is whether to dry her off or not, and if he is sensible he will probably do so. However, if he is really clever he will then change his rebreeding policy!

As a result of the study of the state and problems in the dairy industry of the East Kazakhstan region - the leading region for production of dairy products in the country, development of dairy cattle breeding in the Republic of Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan region from 2010-2019 was analyzed, using indicators of gross milk yield, average annual cow population, milk yield per cow, structure of milk production in the region by categories of farms. The dynamics of production of dairy products in the region is considered based on the analysis of the volumes of milk production and main types of dairy products; assessment of the level of the average annual production capacity of enterprises, population's demand for dairy products and its actual consumption is presented. Along with this, the main problems of the development of dairy industry in the region are identified: low level of utilization of production capacities, shortage and low quality of used raw materials that do not meet the requirements of sanitary standards, an outdated material and technical base, and ways of solving them are proposed. The formation of specialized dairy farms of large and medium size, the development of agricultural cooperation will contribute to the provision of raw materials for dairy factories in the region. State support and stimulation of the activities of these forms of management will increase production of raw materials for the dairy industry in the region, improve its quality, as a result of compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements, carrying out veterinary and breeding work at the required level, as well as integrated approach to ensuring employment of rural population and food security of the country.

Galactogogues are substances used to induce, maintain, and increase milk production, both in human clinical conditions (like noninfectious agalactias and hypogalactias) and in massification of production in the animal dairy industry. This paper aims to report the state of the art on the possible mechanisms of action, effectiveness, and side effects of galactogogues, including potential uses in veterinary and human medicine. The knowledge gaps in veterinary clinical practice use of galactogogues, especially in the standardization of the lactogenic dose in some pure drugs and herbal preparations, are reviewed.

The aim of this work was to fit and compare three non-linear models (Wood, Milkbot and diphasic) to model lactation curves from two approaches: with and without cow random effect. Knowing the behaviour of lactation curves is critical for decision-making in a dairy farm. Knowledge of the model of milk production progress along each lactation is necessary not only at the mean population level (dairy farm), but also at individual level (cow-lactation). The fits were made in a group of high production and reproduction dairy farms; in first and third lactations in cool seasons. A total of 2167 complete lactations were involved, of which 984 were first-lactations and the remaining ones, third lactations (19 382 milk yield tests). PROC NLMIXED in SAS was used to make the fits and estimate the model parameters. The diphasic model resulted to be computationally complex and barely practical. Regarding the classical Wood and MilkBot models, although the information criteria suggest the selection of MilkBot, the differences in the estimation of production indicators did not show a significant improvement. The Wood model was found to be a good option for fitting the expected value of lactation curves. Furthermore, the three models fitted better when the subject (cow) random effect was considered, which is related to magnitude of production. The random effect improved the predictive potential of the models, but it did not have a significant effect on the production indicators derived from the lactation curves, such as milk yield and days in milk to peak.

Australian dairy farmers are facing decreasing availability of land and water and declining terms of trade. In this context, systems that are able to increase milk production per ha from home-grown feed, beyond the potential of pasture only, are sought. The complementary forage system (CFS), combining an area with a rotational sequence of two or three forage crops per year with an area of pasture in 35 and 65% of the farm area, respectively, was developed for this purpose. A 2-year whole-farm study with 100 milking cows on 21.5 ha evaluated the feasibility of achieving 25 t DM/ha.year of home-grown feed and converting this into 35 000 L of milk/ha.year by the implementation of such CFS. Utilisation and nutritive value of all forages and milk yields of individual cows were measured daily, body condition and bodyweight weekly, and milk composition fortnightly. Over 26 t DM/ha.year was utilised over the whole CFS farm for the 2 years of the study. This utilised forage had a mean metabolisable energy value of 10.2 MJ/kg DM and crude protein content of 20.5% DM. From this, a total yield of 27 835 L of milk/ha.year from home-grown feed was obtained, which is higher than any other whole-farm study reported in the literature. Daily pasture intake was the variable with the highest impact on milk yield, and significant differences were found in body condition and milk yield of cows calving in either autumn or spring. This study warrants further investigation to determine the environmental and economic sustainability of the implementation of the CFS.

Challenges of modern economy are forcing the developed countries to seek comparative advantages mainly in their human resources in the trained, educated, flexible and self-confident workforce. Lifetime learning, continuous training and systematic development of entrepreneurial and managerial skills are becoming the basic need for any developed and/or developing country. Well-educated people with the above mentioned characteristics are initiators of high-tech and dynamic entrepreneurship, which is without doubt the main factor of development. Considering the fact that Slovenia is still far away from ideal entrepreneurial society in which entrepreneurship is the way of life for the majority of its population as well as taking into account that Slovenian entrepreneurs and managers have much lower education than their American counterparts we come to the conclusion that Slovenia should focus much more on entrepreneurial and managerial education. For these reasons we are going to discuss the following hypotheses:Slovenia needs to expand its entrepreneurial activity in general, especially dynamic and high-tech entrepreneurship to compete successfully on the European market.The psychological profile of Slovenian people and/or entrepreneurs is closer to theprofile of employees than to dynamic entrepreneurs. Dynamic entrepreneurship requires a higher educational level than Slovenian entrepreneursposses.Slovenia should improve its educational structure.Entrepreneurial education should involve the implementation of modern, active learningmethods.Active teaching (learning) methods contribute to the development of entrepreneurial characteristics.

Milk productivity is highly dependent on inputs used in the dairy farm. The limited source of forage or native grasses with low nutritional quality reduce production and reproduction of dairy cows. Improvement of feed quality can be conducted by various ways, including fortification and supplementation with specific substances that have the potency to increase milk production. This paper describes the potency of local plants, nutritional and bioactive substances that can be utilized to improve production and quality of milk. Some of these plants are cassava (<em>Manihot </em>sp), torbangun (<em>Plectranthus amboinicus</em> (Lour) Spreng) and katuk (<em>Sauropus androgynus</em> (L) Merr) leaves which are potential as feed supplement for cows, goats, and buffalo. The high protein bypass and galactogogue compounds content in these plants are factors increasing production and quality of milk.
