The current study aimed to examine the effect of sniffing Turkish coffee on the sense of smell in COVID-19 patients. This study utilized the experiment-control method. Data were collected using a patient and disease information form and the Connecticut Chemosensory Clinical Research Center (CCCRC) Test. An experimental group of patients sniffed Turkish coffee, and the coffee’s effect on the patients’ sense of smell was examined. All data were analyzed using SPSS version 25 (IBM). Of the patients in the experimental group, 25% had moderate hyposmia, 58.3% had severe hyposmia, and 16.7% had anosmia prior to sniffing Turkish coffee. After sniffing the Turkish coffee, 13.3% of these patients regained their ability to smell normally, while 18.3% had mild hyposmia, 45% had moderate hyposmia, 6.7% had severe hyposmia, and 16.7% had anosmia. There was no difference in the control group between first and second measurement. COVID-19 patients who sniffed Turkish coffee intermittently regained some of their sense of smell for one hour. Turkish coffee is cheap, fragrant, widely available, and easy to access. Therefore, results of this study suggest that it may be recommended for treating olfactory disorder in COVID-19 patients.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of soybean, flax and rapeseed oil on productive performance and carcass quality of broilers chickens. At the beginning of the experiment six groups of 40 one day-old chicks, hybrid line Cobb 500 was formed, with five replications. For nutrition two feed mixtures were used. During the first two weeks, in preparation period, chickens were fed with starter mixture, and then with grower mixture until the end of the experiment. Control group was fed with mixture of standard composition and quality based on corn and soybean meal with the addition of 4% and 8% soybean oil, while the experimental group included 4% and 8% flaxseed oil and 4% and 8% rapeseed oil. The experiment lasted 35 days. During the experimental period, chickens were fed and watered ad libitum and microclimatic conditions were constantly monitored. Control of body weight and feed consumption was carried out every seven days. At the end of the experiment 10 chickens from each group were sacrificed for the purpose of testing the carcass quality. Upon completion of the experiment, control group achieved weight of 2122g and 2053g, and the experimental group with flax oil 2164g and 2094g, and the group with rapeseed oil weighs of 2121g and 2081g. Chickens on treatment with 4% flax oil in the diet achieved significantly higher body mass (P<0.05) at the end of the experiment compared with the groups who were on treatment with 8% rapeseed and soybean oil. Soybean oil at a rate of 4% showed significantly (P<0.05) increased final body weight compared to body mass of chicks in a group with the addition of 8% soybean oil. Feed conversion ratio was lowest in the group with the addition of 4% flax oil and rapeseed oil, and the highest in the group with the addition of 8% flax oil. The differences found in the carcass quality between the control and experimental groups were not statistically significant (P>0.05). The largest amount of abdominal fat (18.9 g) was in the group with the addition of 4% rapeseed oil and lowest in the group with the addition of 8% soybean oil (12.6 g). Based on these results it can be concluded that the addition of 4% oil showed better productive results, but had no effect on carcass quality of chickens.

To assess the efficacy of acupuncture for treatment of irritable bowel syndrome through meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials in recent 20 years. Online databases, including CNKI, VIP, WANFANG,PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Embase were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of acupuncture for IBS. Retrieval time was from January 1, 2000 to January 31, 2021. According to Jadad scoring criteria, the bias risk and quality assessment of each RCT included were evaluated by two researchers. RevMan 5.3 software was used for the meta analysis. Eight RCTs were selected which include a total of 1181 patients. The control group has 425 patients and the experimental group has 756 patients. The result of meta-analysis indicates that the total effective rate for the experimental group was superior to that of the control group [OR=3.29,95%CI [2.16~5.03](P<0.01)], and the funnel plot was basically symmetric. Acupuncture therapy is shown to have a good safety and compliance record. However, the number of high-quality trials is small, and there are some deficiencies in the methodology of clinical research. Acupuncture, as a supplementary therapy for irritable bowel syndrome, has positive clinical significance and prospects for application. The methodology of clinical research needs to be further improved.

The aim of the work was to establish the adaptive abilities and milk productivity of Simmental cows of Austrian origin in the conditions of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Research and production experience was held at Hammer Company LLC, Prikubansky District, Karachay-Cherkess Republic, in which 400 head Simmental heifers were brought from Austria. For the experiment, 40 cows of Schwyz and Simmental breeds were selected. Schwyz cows were included in the experiment (control group I), as well adapted to the conditions of Karachay-Cherkessia, and Simmental cows constituted the second experimental group. Among Simmental cows with a bath-like form of the udder, it was 12.5%, while in Swiss peers - 2.5%, with a bowl-shaped form - 60.0%, and in peers - 47.5%, Schwyz cows were in the lead - 50%, for Simmental - 27.5%. There were no significant differences between the groups of experimental cows in hemoglobin, erythrocyte, and leukocyte counts. On average, the hemoglobin level in the rocks was within the normal range and was 109.8-110.1g / l, the content of erythrocytes was 7.2-7.4x1012 / l, and leukocytes were 9.9-10.2x109 / l. The heart rate and respiration rate in adapting Simmental cows were slightly higher than in their peers of the Swiss breed and were 71.8-73.5; 24.7-26.8 times per minute and 70.5-71.0; 23.4-24.2 times per minute, respectively. The highest milk production in the second lactation was distinguished by Simmental cows, their milk yield was 4455 kg of milk, which is 958 kg or 27.4% higher than the Swiss peers. The fat content of milk in Simmental cows was at the level of 3.84%, protein 3.32%. The superiority of Simmental cows over Swiss peers in terms of fat and protein content in milk was 0.11% and 0.15%, respectively. Simmental cows in the new climatic conditions provided an increase in milk productivity, which indicates good lability of the organism in the new geographical area.

The aim of this study was to explore the correlation between intraoperative hyperalgesia of the second eye and the dynamic changes of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL)-1β levels in aqueous humor (AH) of the second eye and whole blood after the first eye cataract surgery. A rabbit model of monocular phacoemulsification was established by administration of 0.3% levofloxacin. Whole blood and AH samples from non-surgical eyes in the experimental group (n =25) and second eye in the blank control group (n =15) were obtained and corneal sensitivity was examined after surgery (1, 3, 7, 14, and 21 days postoperatively). TNF-α and IL-1β levels in AH and TNF-α mRNA and IL-1β mRNA levels in whole blood were measured. In a clinical study, 30 patients who underwent bilateral phacoemulsification within 1 month were divided into six groups in accordance with the operation intervals (1, 3, 7, 10, 14, and 21days). TNF-α and IL-1β levels in AH were measured at the beginning of surgery and intraoperative pain was assessed immediately after surgery. Corneal sensitivity (F =244.910, P <0.05), TNF-α and IL-1β levels in AH (F =184.200, 82.900, P <0.05) of non-surgical eyes and in whole blood (F =272.800, 193.530, P <0.05) in the experimental group were significantly higher than the baseline levels after phacoemulsification. In the clinical study, NRS scores of second eye surgery were higher than those of the first eye(P =0.0025) and 19 (63.3%) patients reported more pain during the second eye surgery. TNF-α and IL-1β concentrations in AH of the second eye were significantly higher than those of the first eye (F =123.60, P <0.05; F =59.60, P <0.05). In conclusion, within 1 month after the first eye phacoemulsification, higher pain sensitivity (hyperalgesia) exists in the second eye, which may be related to dynamic changes in TNF-α, IL-1β levels in AH or whole blood.
