The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of the effect of natural nanoporous minerals together with organic waste from poultry farms on the yield of spring rapeseed, qualitative analysis of seeds and obtained samples of rapeseed oil. The experiments were carried out in 2019-2021 in the experimental field of the Yelets State University named after I.A. Bunin. The object of the study was the Rif spring rape variety. The highest productivity was observed in the variants with the introduction of zeolite (3 t / ha) in combination with organic waste 5 t / ha and 10 t / ha, which amounted to 34.4 c / ha and 34.9 c / ha, respectively. These options provided the maximum gross yield of protein (9.74 c / ha and 9.95 c / ha) and oil (13.95 c / ha and 14.10 c / ha). A positive effect from the use of natural zeolite as a fertilizer on the accumulation of oleic acid in the obtained rapeseed oil samples has been established. Introduction (problem statement and relevance). The depletion of oil fuels reserves and the steady growth of their consumption will require new solutions in the development of technologies based on renewable energy sources. The study of the possible alternative fuels use in internal combustion engines is a complex scientific task, including the research of the alternative fuels effect on the power plants operation efficiency. The purpose of the study was to obtain the speed characteristics of a diesel engine operating on ethyl alcohol and rapeseed oil.Methodology and research methods. An air-cooled with volumetric mixture formation tractor diesel engine of dimension 2Ch 10.5/12.0 was selected as an object of research. The study was carried out by a comparative method. To measure the speed characteristic a fixed cyclic fuel supply was applied after the engine reaching the nominal operating mode at a crankshaft speed of 1800 min-1 and an average effective pressure in the cylinder of 0.588 MPa. This approach, with the all-mode regulator of the fuel pump turned off, made it possible to identify the main regularities of intra-cylinder processes at different speed modes of engine operation.Scientific novelty and results. The article presents the bench tests results of a diesel engine operating at various speed modes on ethanol and rapeseed oil, and analyzes in detail the main indicators of the combustion process and the effective engine performance in comparison to the use of traditional fuel. The practical significance lies in the possibility of using the obtained results to improve the diesel engines operation on alternative renewable fuels.

Phonolite material has shown to be promising catalyst support for the deoxygenation of triglycerides. In this work, we continue with our previous research by synthesising and testing three acid-treated phonolite-supported Co-Mo, Ni-Mo and Ni-W catalysts for the hydrotreating of atmospheric gas oil and co-processing with rapeseed oil at industrial operating conditions (350–370 °C, WHSV 1–2 h−1, 5.5 MPa) in the continuous regime for more than 270 h. The phonolite-supported catalysts showed hydrotreating activity comparable with commercial catalysts, together with a complete conversion of triglycerides into n-alkanes. During co-processing, the Ni-promoted catalyst showed strong stability, with similar activity previous to the rapeseed oil addition. Our results enable us to evaluate the suitability of phonolite as catalyst support for the development of plausible alternatives to conventional hydrotreating catalysts for the co-processing of middle distillates with vegetable oils.

Hot pressing can be considered the best extraction method for rapeseed oil from the perspective of phenolic compounds, because hot pressing produces the highest content of sinapine, and sinapine inhibits TMA production.

Purpose This paper aims to present an analysis of several 3 D texture parameters for the entire wear scars obtained in severe regime, on a four-ball tester. The aim of this analysis is to correlate the tribological parameter as wear scar diameter to texture parameters. Design/methodology/approach Tested lubricants were rapeseed oil, rapeseed oil additivated with 1% Wt nano TiO2 and rapeseed oil additivated with 1%Wt nano ZnO. The severe regime was applied for 1400 rpm and for loads increasing in steps of 50 N, from 500 to 900 N. Several analyzed roughness parameters (height parameters and functional ones) could be related to the evolution of a wear parameter, the wear scar diameter. Comparing the values for neat rapeseed oil and additivated variants, the texture parameters allow for evaluating if the additives protect or not the worn surfaces. Findings Measurements pointed out two groups of roughness parameters: one that has an evolution depending on wear scar diameter (WSD) and load (Sa, St, functional parameters) and one including Ssk that has shown no dependence on load and WSD. Also, the functional parameters Spk and Svk follow in a similar manner the wear parameter, WSD, but Sk is the least dependent on load. For the highest load, amplitude parameters such as Sa and St are following the tendency of WSD. Each lubricant has its particular correlation between wear parameters and texture quality, expressed by the help of a set of roughness parameters. Research limitations/implications Such studies help tribologists to rank lubricants based on a combined analysis with wear parameters and texture parameters. Practical implications The results allow for evaluating new formulated lubricants. Originality/value The study on the quality on worn surfaces introduces the original idea of analyzing the entire wear scar surface (approximated by an ellipse with the axes as those experimentally measured) by the help of a set of 3 D roughness parameters.
