Knowledgebases can become an effective tool essentially raising quality of information retrieval in molecular biology, promoting the development of new methods of education and forecasting of the biomedical R&D. Knowledge-based technologies should induce "paradigm shift" in the life science due to integrative focusing of research groups towards the challenges of postgenomic era. This paper debates concept of the knowledgebase, which exploits web usage mining to personalize the access of molecular biologist to the Internet resources.

The Internet offers an unprecedented opportunity for healthcare information to be disseminated instantaneously. Quality of information, both scientific and nonscientific, and the development of tools to disseminate information securely via the Internet are the two most important issues related to achieving effective and wider exchange of health information. For the first time ever, information can be exchanged simultaneously and interactively all around the world, with the potential of being equally available to healthcare professionals as well as to patients. The big difference between yesterday's knowledge-based patient care and that of tomorrow, is a fundamental premise that patients will explore the web world with a desire to learn more about their condition, including its treatment and prognosis. This has evolved into the concept of e-health (Electronic Health). Evaluation and examination of the information being conveyed via the Internet is important and necessary in order for the Internet to be an effective tool in healthcare.

AbstractA huge amount of medical information is available on the Internet for both experts and laypersons. These resources are frequently used to answer current medical questions and are thus likely to influence the behavior of the users. Criteria for assessing the quality of medical Internet resources have been established by a number of authors and institutions to provide reliable medical information on the Internet for both patients and physicians. Clinical studies on the impact of information on the Internet are still lacking. The next step is to evaluate the outcome of such information services and to prove that they affect health-related parameters. Due to different constraints, classical strategies of controlled clinical trials can only be partly applied. New methods have to be developed and validated in practice.

We compare traditional and new methods of information search in computer networks. As the result we prove the necessity of considering the quality of information category in the process of information search by students of all forms of education. We give the definitions of “junk information” and information quality. It is necessary to take into account the information quality for intellectualization of information search and eventually for efficacy improvement of information search. One of the main sources of quality information on the Internet is legal electronic libraries. We consider the characteristics of network sources, which contain quality information and allow students to differ legal electronic libraries from unauthorized. As the example we consider several electronic libraries. We recommend to lecturers several tasks, which can be useful for students while learning methods of intellectual information search in electronic educational resources, these tasks are aimed to form competencies of modern educational standards. We conclude it is necessary to pay far more attention to the issue of quality information search on the Internet, than we do today.
