The enormous progress in communication technology has led to a tremendous need to provide an ideal environment for the transmission, storing, and processing of digital multimedia content, where the audio signal takes the lion's share of it. Audio processing covers many diverse fields, its main aim is presenting sound to human listeners. Recently, digital audio processing became an active research area, it covers everything from theory to practice in relation to transmission, compression, filtering, and adding special effects to an audio signal. The aim of this work is to present the real-time implementation steps of some audio effects namely, the echo and Flanger effects on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Today, FPGAs are the best choice in data processing because they provide more flexibility, performance, and huge processing capabilities with great power efficiency. Designs are achieved using the XSG tool (Xilinx System Generator), which makes complex designs easier without prior knowledge of hardware description languages. The paper is presented as a guide with deep technical details about designing and real-time implementation steps. We decided to transfer some experience to designers who want to rapidly prototype their ideas using tools such as XSG. All the designs have been simulated and verified under Simulink/Matlab environment, then exported to Xilinx ISE (Integrated Synthesis Environment) tool for the rest of the implementation steps. The paper also gives an idea of interfacing the FPGA with the LM4550 AC’97 codec using VHDL coding. The ATLYS development board based on Xilinx Spartan-6 LX45 FPGA is used for the real-time implementation.

The auditory filter-bank is the key component of auditory model, and its implementation involves a lot of computations. The time spent by an auditory filter-bank to finish its work has a significant effect on the real-time implementation of auditory model-based audio signal processing systems. In this paper, we give a brief introduction to the auditory filter-bank at the first, and then discuss its DSP-based implementation and optimization in details.

Automated acquisition of sensing data is an active research area in manufacturing domain. A great deal of research work has been focused on automated data acquisitionapplied to various subjects related to manufacturing operations such as safety, performance improvement, monitoring and layout planning. Laser scanners including Time of Flight cameras play a significant role in real time or near real time decision makings in manufacturing automation. To establish an automated sensing system in a work place, enough test data should be available regarding the performance characteristics. This paper investigates the performance of Microsoft XBOX Kinect on spatial modeling in large jobsites, and employs fuzzy logic to find optimal placement of Kinect sensors that gives the best resolution.

Provision of high security is one of the active research areas in the network applications. The failure in the centralized system based on the attacks provides less protection. Besides, the lack of update of new attacks arrival leads to the minimum accuracy of detection. The major focus of this paper is to improve the detection performance through the adaptive update of attacking information to the database. We propose an Adaptive Rule-Based Multiagent Intrusion Detection System (ARMA-IDS) to detect the anomalies in the real-time datasets such as KDD and SCADA. Besides, the feedback loop provides the necessary update of attacks in the database that leads to the improvement in the detection accuracy. The combination of the rules and responsibilities for multiagents effectively detects the anomaly behavior, misuse of response, or relay reports of gas/water pipeline data in KDD and SCADA, respectively. The comparative analysis of the proposed ARMA-IDS with the various existing path mining methods, namely, random forest, JRip, a combination of AdaBoost/JRip, and common path mining on the SCADA dataset conveys that the effectiveness of the proposed ARMA-IDS in the real-time fault monitoring. Moreover, the proposed ARMA-IDS offers the higher detection rate in the SCADA and KDD cup 1999 datasets.

The real-time processing for the input analog audio signal, audio processing program is proposed based on DSP. The system use FFT algorithm as the core, first, the input analog audio signal is sampled and A/D conversion using TLV320AIC23, and then use high speed digital signal processor to make real-time processing for the signal. Theoretical and experimental results show that the system can meet the design requirements, it has the advantage of high real-time and simple structure. The system has a good application and reference value for the development and design of data collecting and remote monitoring.

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of spatial data. Spatial data, whether captured through remote sensors or large scale simulations has always been big and heterogenous. The issue of real-time and heterogeneity have been extremely important for taking effective decision. Thus, heterogeneous real-time spatial data management has become a very active research domain. Existing research has principally focused on querying of real-time spatial data and their updates. But the unpredictability of access to data maintain the behavior of the real-time GIS unstable. In this paper, we propose the use of the real-time Spatial Big Data and we define a new architecture called FCSA-RTSBD (Feedback Control Scheduling Architecture for Real-Time Spatial Big Data). The main objectives of this architecture are the following: take in account the heterogeneity of data, guarantee the data freshness, enhance the deadline miss ratio even in the presence of conflicts and unpredictable workloads and finally satisfy the requirements of users by the improving of the quality of service (QoS).

Sign Least Mean Square (SLMS) adaptive filter can adapt dynamically based on corresponding filter output. One of the major applications of adaptive filter is Noise cancellation. In real time applications like medical computing, speed of the process developing hardware is essential hence the hardware realization of SLMS adaptive filter using Xilinx System generator is proposed in this work. The propose architecture aims to reduce convergence rate, path delay and increasing speed. In this work (i) Modified architecture is designed for a 8-tap SLMS adaptive filter and (ii) multiplier less structure for Modified DLMS Filter. The designed architecture tested for ECG signal. The functionality of the algorithm is verified in MATLAB with various ECG data from the MIT-BIH database as input. Both LMS and SLMS are designed, simulated, synthesized and implemented in Virtex-5 FPGA using Xilnix ISE 14.3 . The result shows 5% decrease in total real time router completion and also decrease in the number of adders and subtractors, the maximum combinational path delay has been reduced by 48.84% in Systolic Sign LMS Filter when compared to LMS Filter.
