Abstract Background: The importance of consultation-liaison psychiatry (CLP) services have been progressively growing in all general hospitals. Methods: Data were collected from medical records of patients treated by the CLP service, from 2014 to 2020, including clinical-demographic data, characteristics of hospitalization, reason for request, treatment plan, and clinical outcome. For these analyses, the chi-square test, z-test, and Kruskal-Wallis test were used. The level of significance was set at 5%.Results: A total of 2,742 consultation requests were evaluated by the psychiatry team. The number of requests made grew by 109.64% over the years. In 58.21% of cases, the patient was in the ward, and 33% were requested by Internal Medicine. There was a statistically significant difference (p <0.001) in the distribution of reasons for request according to patients' characterization variables. Conclusions: This study sought to analyze the functioning and growth of CLP in a tertiary Brazilian general hospital. The present findings reinforce the importance of this service and the need to implement and develop CLP in general hospitals.

ABSTRACTNearly 20-40% of patients with medico-surgical illnesses in general hospitals have a co morbid psychiatric illness or psychosocial issues, which interfere in improvement of the primary illness. It is important to assess the attitudes and awareness of non-psychiatrist clinicians about the co-existing psychiatric morbidity in their patients and their felt needs, which can help in mitigating this morbidity. The present study attempts to gauge the non-psychiatrist clinician's perception, felt needs and barriers to referral/ intervention in a tertiary care teaching hospital. A cross-sectional, descriptive, online questionnaire-based method was used. Of the 239 clinical faculty members, only 45 responded. Responses indicated that clinicians were aware of the existence and significance of psychological problems in their patients, but could do with further increased levels of awareness and more specific training in evaluation and intervention. Stigma, lack of awareness of available services, and lack of detailed understanding regarding psychological problems were the important barriers to referral/ intervention. Better teamwork, training and more manpower were the specific suggestions for improvement in the future.

Descritores: Adesão à Medicação; Pacientes; Transtornos Mentais; Serviços Médicos de Emergência; Enfermagem.EVALUATION OF ACCESSION TO THE MEDICINAL TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS IN THE EMERGENCY SERVICEObjective: To identify the socio-demographic and clinical profile and to evaluate the adherence to home drug treatment and, the associated factors, of patients with psychiatric disorders attended at the Emergency Department. Background: Menopausal symptoms are common problem in menopausal women. The severity of menopausal symptoms is influenced by the interaction of biological, genetic and nutritional factors. Objective: This study aimed to determine correlation between menopausal symptoms and fish consumption of postmenopausal women in the coastal areas.Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted on 234 postmenopausal women in the coastal areas of Southeast Sulawesi. Severity of menopausal symptoms was assessed using Menopause Rating Scale (MRS). Quantity of fish consumption was calculated using 24-hour recall questionnaires. Frequency of fish consumption was evaluated using Food Frequency Questionnaires (FFQ). Data analysis used Chi-square test with a significance value of p=0.05.Results: The majority of fish consumption was sufficient in quantity (81.6%) and frequency (95.3%). Menopausal symptoms are found to be very mild (14.1%), mild (36.3%), moderate (38.5%), and severe (11.1%). There was a correlation between menopausal symptoms and the quantity of fish consumption (p=0.000), and between menopausal symptoms and the frequency of fish consumption (p=0.000).  Conclusion: There was a correlation between menopausal symptoms and fish consumption of postmenopausal women, both in the quantity and frequency. Therefore, increasing the quantity and frequency of fish consumption will reduce the severity of menopausal symptoms.

Introduction: Migraine is the most common cause of vascular headache with a one-year prevalence as high as 6-14.3%. Having various pathophysiological theories, it occurs in much co-morbidity with several medical as well as psychiatric disorders like mood disorders, phobia, anxiety spectrum, etc. Migraine, especially when co-morbid with psychiatric illness stands markedly burdensome economically, diagnostically, therapeutically and prognostically. Hence, needs even further research. Aim: To study patients with migraine versus other types of headache and to study psychiatric co-morbidity among patients with migraine. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on total 100 patients presenting with headache, meeting the criteria were taken up for the study and divided into two groups. Patients meeting International Headache Society (IHS) criteria for migraine were enrolled under group A and patients suffering from headache other than migraine under group B. Having subjected to detailed history and evaluation, patients were subjected to Symptom checklist-80, Hamilton’s Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS), International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10 criteria. The data so collected was subjected to statistical analysis and association of psychiatric morbidity with migraine patients was assessed. Results: Patients with migraine (group A) and among those too, patients having psychiatric morbidity had significantly (p<0.01) longer duration of illness (≥8 years), more frequent attacks ≥5 attacks per month and had longer duration of each attack >24 hours compared to the other groups. Patients having migraine had significantly (p<0.01) higher psychiatric morbidity, more SCL-80 symptoms (mean score 83.05); more depressive symptoms (mean MADRS score was 31.9±9.2) and more anxiety with the mean Hamilton Anxiety score was 23.3 than in patients without psychiatric morbidity. Conclusion: A thorough evaluation of psychiatric disorders in migraine is important so as to propose a non segregated model of care to direct the burden and deterioration associated with psychiatric co-morbidity in migraine.
