Background: Peripheral polyneuropathy is most common Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) related complication with prevalence of more than 60%. The prevalence of peripheral neuropathy is directly proportional to duration and severity of CKD. Objective of the study was to study and assess the prevalence of peripheral neuritis and its correlates in patients with chronic kidney diseases. Methods: The present study was a cross sectional; descriptive study was conducted in October 2016 to October 2018. Data analysed by using SPSS 23.0 version. Results: Out of 90 subjects, majority were from 45-54 years age group (26). 70% were male and 30% were females. Out of 60 pre-HD patients, 33(55%) showed peripheral neuropathy. Out of 30 HD patients, 24(80%) showed peripheral neuropathy. Maximum percentage of PN seen in 45-54 age group (76.92%) amongst the 60 males 39 (65%) and amongst 30 females 18(60%) showed peripheral neuropathy. Maximum percentage of PN seen in >5 years age group (79.31%). Pure axonal sensory motor neuropathy (28.88%) was most common pattern. Conclusions: Peripheral neuropathy is very common in CKD, more common in dialysis patients as compared to predialysis patients.

Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) patients who undergo hemodialysis often experience complications of haemodynamic disorders, both hypertension and intradialisis hypotension. One of the most frequent causes of increasing is IDGW (Interdialytic Weight Gain). The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between interdialytic weight gain and changes in intradialysis blood pressure among patients with chronic kidney diseases in Haemodialysis Roomat Sanglah Hospital Denpasar. The research method used is analytic correlation with cross sectional approach. The sample technique used was purposive sampling with a total sample of 80 respondents. Statistical analysis using spearmans rank statistic test. The results obtained from 80 respondents most mostly interdialytic weight gain in the mild category (73.8.0%) and intradialisis blood pressure within normal limits (65.0%). The result of statistic test shows that p value 0,001 (<0,05). The conclusion of this study is that any significant correlation between interdialytic weight gain with changes in intradialysis blood pressure among patients with CKD at Haemodialysis Room of Sanglah Hospital Denpasar. Suggestions for nurses to increase the provision of regular education in regular haemodialysis patients to improve patient’s adherence to diet and limit fluid intake.

Introduction: Chronic kidney diseases affect patients with multiple respiratory complications by varied etiopathogenesis adversely affecting the outcome in them. The aim of the study is to find out the respiratory manifestations among patients with chronic kidney disease. Methods: The descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital from January 2019 to March 2019 after ethical approval. One hundred and two patients with established chronic kidney diseases being treated in a tertiary hospital for a month were included for the study. Clinical evaluation and relevant investigations; chest x ray, pleural fluid analysis, sputum analysis, echocardiography, biochemical investigations and hematological investigations were done to assess the respiratory manifestations of the patients. Results: Pulmonary edema 41 (24.84%) was the most common manifestation followed by pleural effusion 18 (10.9%). Pleural effusions were predominantly bilateral and transudative type. Pneumonia 17 (10.3%) was predominantly lobar pneumonia. Sixteen (9.7%) of the patients were screened positive for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Pulmonary tuberculosis was present in 9 (5.45%) patients. Conclusions: Varieties of respiratory complications can present in varied spectrum in patients with chronic kidney diseases and this carries adverse outcome to patient management as well as affects the quality of life of the patient and their family.

Background. Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) is a progressive deviation of kidney, the kidneys are unable to function to maintain metabolic balance , so as to resolve the issue carried out various therapies one of which is dialysis or Hemodialysis (HD). CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis will experience physical and psychosocial problems that affect the behavior and self-concept. This research is to know the Relationship Between Behavior And Self-concept in patients at Chronic Kidney Diseases That Undergoing Hemodialysis In Hemodialysis Unit of Hospital Dr. Moewardi. Methods. This type of research is correlational with the design of cross sectional and analysis the data used is the test Product Moment Pearson. Research Result. The results of this research is there is a relationship between the behavior and self-concept of patients undergoing hemodialysis in Hemodialysis Unit of Hospital Dr. Moewardi. This is evidenced by Pearson Product Moment analysis test which obtained significance value (p value) 0,000 < 0,05 (α = 5 %). Conclusion. Behaviors related to self-concept in patients with CKD undergoing Hemodialysis.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the factors related to the impaired comfort of chronic kidney diseases (CKD) patients on hemodialysis. Method: this is a cross-sectional study with 80 patients undergoing hemodialysis in a renal replacement therapy unit through interviews using two instruments, one for clinical and sociodemographic characteristics and the General Comfort Questionnaire, during the hemodialysis session. Mann-Whitney tests and the logistic regression model were used for data analysis. Results: the study found that being younger (p=0.045); being married (p=0.05); and absence of impaired physical mobility (p=0.007) were contributing factors for greater comfort in CKD patients on hemodialysis. Thus, when establishing the odds ratio, it was possible to observe that being 55 years of age or older, being single and having impaired physical mobility represents a 45.7% chance of developing this diagnosis. Conclusions: sociodemographic and clinical variables contribute to the study outcome, demanding attention during the planning of nursing interventions.

Background: The estimation of risk factors for death can help in modifying the screening, treatment strategy and saving valuable lives. The published data about this topic from India is scarce. We aim to explore the risk factors of in-hospital deaths for COVID-19 patients. Methods: This was a hospital-based cross-sectional study. All COVID-19 patients positive on reverse transcriptase–polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) test who were admitted in this dedicated COVID hospital (DCH) in April to July 2020 and with definite outcome (death or discharge) till end of September 2020 were included in this study. To explore the risk factors associated with in-hospital death univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used. Results: Of the 6195 patients, 450 (7.26%) died. Age 40-60 years [AOR (CI)=4.53 (2.71-7.58)], age >60 years [AOR (CI)=17.42 (10.55-28.75)], suffering from diabetes mellitus [AOR (CI)=2.08 (1.66-2.6)], cardiovascular diseases [AOR (CI)=1.57 (1.14-2.17)], hypertension [AOR (CI)=1.43 (1.14-1.8)], chronic kidney diseases [AOR (CI)=2.78(2.02-3.82)] were found to be significant predictors of death after adjusting for potential confounders. Conclusions: Age >40 years, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, chronic kidney diseases are the independent predictors for mortality in COVID-19. These high risk groups should be given special attention for screening and treatment.

With the increasing prevalence of Diabetes mellitus especially in the middle age group, the chances of developing neuro-vascular complications are very high. One such complication is Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy / Distal Symmetric sensory Polyneuropathy (DSPN). Diabetes mellitus can be correlated to Madhumeha and its complication Peripheral neuropathy to that of Twak-gata vata. Twakgata vata is one such vatavyadhi which can manifest in a Madhumeha Rogi. According to Acharya Charaka, Prakupita vata localized in twak brings about dryness of skin, skin cracks open, numbness in that part, emaciation, black discolouration, pricking type of pain, a feeling of stretching in that part, redness, and pain in small joints. Charaka has explained the special reason for the manifestation of a vatavyadhi. He says that depending upon the specific cause and site the aggravated vata produces different types of vyadhis, like twak-gata vata, raktagata vata, etc. Though, Daha as a lakshana has not been mentioned under Twakgata vata lakshanas, when there is anubandha of vata with pitta, daha is seen. Sushruta says in rasa-rakta etc., if vata gets associated with other doshas it produces various disorders. Ex: If there is daha, then association of vata with pitta should be inferred.
