The present study is a record based study of Post-mortems performed at Mortuary of District Hospital (Associated with Medical College) Vidisha, MP, India, from January 2018 to December 2018 comprising 330 cases. This study was conducted to determine and evaluate the socio-demographic profile of different types of cases and to assess the nature and cause of their death. Of these cases 247 (74.84%) were males, 54 (25.15%) were females and 276 (83.63%) were identified whereas 54 (16.36%) were unidentified. Accidental deaths were commonest 142(43%), then death due to poisoning 98(29.69%). Pathological deaths were 36(10.89%). Death due to assault were less common 24 (7.27%).

Introduction Sexual assault is an important health and social problem affecting young girls. The aim of the study is therefore to do a one-year retrospective review of documents of alleged sexual assaults managed at Saint Paulo’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) to determine survivors’ characteristics, circumstances of the assault, and treatment offered. Methods This is a hospital-based one-year retrospective review of alleged sexual assault cases. The case records of survivors were retrieved, reviewed and information extracted analyzed using SPSS version 17. Characteristics of victims of the sexual assault, clinical presentation, and management provided were described by frequency and percentage distribution. Result A total of 170 cases of alleged sexual assault who received care during the study period were identified. Around 96% of the survivors were female while there were 6 male cases. The mean age of the victims was 13 yrs. with a range from 2 to 25 yrs. About 23.6% of the victims were less than 10 years. Half of the victims were assaulted by neighbors (45%) followed by strangers (36.5%). The interval between the incident and presentation to the hospital ranged from 2 hours to 93 days (2224 hours) with an average of 98 hours. Most (93.0%) had one or more physical examination findings at presentation. Serology tests for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis were done in 97.3%, 88.7%, and 84.5% cases respectively. Urine pregnancy tests were done in 62.5% of the cases. Prophylaxis against HIV and STI prophylaxis was provided to 42% and 45% respectively. Social support/counseling was provided to 61% of the victims and legal evidence (certificate) was provided to 45.5% of the cases. Conclusion and recommendations Although it is largely not reported by the victims, sexual assault is a grievous offense still happening constantly. Children and young girls remain the most vulnerable. There is inadequate forensic evidence collection, legal and medical care. There is also a delay in presentation to hospital by victims. Therefore, there is a need to have standardized protocols for comprehensive evaluation and care of the survivors. It is also imperative that a multidisciplinary approach like a one-stop clinic should be utilized to provide effective and efficient medical, social, psychological, and legal services. Finally, it is very necessary to increase public awareness and preventive interventions are required particularly to protect the vulnerable age group to enhance their safety.

It is challenging to diagnose and distinguish sinonasal masses as they can have varying clinical presentations. This study was done to see if sinonasal masses can be detected by clinical symptoms, signs and examination itself without resorting to investigations. This cross sectional study was conducted in the department of Otolaryngology, Government Medical College Thrissur, Kerala for a period of one year from December 2017 to December 2018. Total 104 cases were studied. Most of the sinonasal masses were identied by doing proper anterior and posterior rhinoscopy which don’t require much expertise to master. This can be considered only as a screening because any intervention should be preceded by radiological investigations and biopsy for a denitive management.

Background: All the hernias, 75% occurs in groin and inguinal hernia is the most common form of all. Acquired hernia can be direct, indirect or combination of both. In adult males 65% of inguinal hernias are indirect and 55% of them are right side. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Kangra at Tanda from May 2018 to December 2019after being approved by institutional protocol review committe and ethics committee.50 patients were included in the study. Results: In our study, the patients age ranged from 18 years to 87 years with a mean age of 50.26±15.76 years. 22 (44%) patients had inguinal hernia on right side Conclusion: We concluded that mostly patients were more than 50 yrs age group and right side. This study was conducted to determine the clinical evaluation and various etiological factors of secondary seizures in patients admitted to Government Medical College, Nagpur. We evaluated 58 patients of secondary seizures from Dec 2011 to Oct 2013. Secondary seizures were defined as case of seizure with CT (brain) or MRI (brain) abnormality1. Out of 58 cases 35 were males and 23 were females. Mean age of study subjects was 34.85. The commonest presenting feature was generalized tonic clonic convulsions (42 patients) followed by focal seizures (16 patients).  Todd’s palsy was observed in 4 cases. Aura was present in 24 cases. According to CT brain scan the aetiology was – neurocysticercosis (34.48%), post stroke (27.59%), tuberculoma (24.14%). Space occupying lesions(SOLs) were present in 8 patients, out of whom 4 had brain tumour, 2 patients had brain abscess, 1 had hydatid cyst and 1 had metastasis. Majority of lesions were located in frontal region (58.62%), followed by in parietal region (44.83%), in temporal region (25.86%) and in occipital region (13.79 % patients). In our study neurocysticercosis was found to be the commonest cause of secondary seizures. As in a meta-analysis it was found that cysticidal drugs result in better outcome in patients of neurocysticecosis, we recommend that the patients of secondary seizures should be identified for the aetiology and treated at the earliest2.

Background: Adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes are related to pregnancies spaced too closely together. Objective of present study was to compare the expulsion rate and complications between post placental IUCD insertion between caesarean section and vaginal delivery.Methods: This study was a prospective comparative study conducted in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at Agartala Government Medical College over 1.5 Years (January 2016-June2017) All cases at term pregnancy delivering by caesarean section and vaginal delivery were divided into two different groups. Sample size of 105 in each group. Subjects recruited from-obstetrics OPD and casualty of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital expulsion rate and complications. Comparative evaluation of Expulsion rate and complications following post placental IUCD insertion between caesarean section and vaginal delivery at the end of six months, one year and one and half year.Results: There was no significant difference in either complications between the two groups (P value-.913) or outcomes (p value-.035). Expulsion rate 18.2% following vaginal delivery compared to those with intracaesarean insertion i.e 3.8%.Conclusions: The complications associated with postplacental Intrauterine device insertion is insignificant, still the awareness, acceptance and continuation are very low. Therefore Information, education Communication activity by the field workers must be enhanced to overcome this knowledge gap.

Objective: To investigate the incidence and spectrum of neuroimaging ndings and their prognostic role in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Government Medical College Nagpur along with their correlation with D-Dimer Values and GCS . Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of 774 COVID-19 conrmed patients admitted to Government Medical College st st Nagpur between 1 April 2020 and 31 October 2020. Clinical data were extracted from electronic medical records, and particularly data of all neurological symptoms were extracted from the imaging reports. Four neuro-radiologists evaluated all neuroimaging studies for acute neuroimaging ndings related to COVID-19. Plasma D-dimer levels were measured using a particle-enhanced, immunoturbidimetric assay on admission in the 116 patients who came for evaluation of neurological symptoms. Moreover ,the patients were classied into different groups as mild, moderate and severe based on their GCS scores and was assessed with respect to their neuro-imaging ndings. Results: 15 % of the admitted patients suffered from neurological symptoms. Acute stroke was the most common nding in the patients with positive neuroimaging ndings resulting in 34.4% of the patients with positive neuroimaging ndings. Other ndings were subacute infarcts (13.8%), Chronic lacunar infarcts (20.6%) , Intraparenchymal hemorrhage in 10.4 %, hypertensive encephalopathy in 7 % and subarachanoid hemorrhage in 3.4 %. Plasma median D-dimer levels were signicantly (P฀ =฀ 0.000) higher in Acute stroke patients as compared to COVID 19 positive patients who had negative CT scan imaging features(0.88; interquartile range [IQR], 0.28–2.11 mg/L and 0.31; IQR, 0.17–0.74 mg/L). Patients who have positive neuroimaging ndings presented with a lower GCS whereas patients who had negative neuroimaging ndings presented with a higher GCS. Conclusions: Our study demonstrates acute stroke is the most common neuroloimaging nding in hospitalized COVID 19 Patients. Moreover D-Dimer values are highly predictive of acute ischemic stroke. Patients with positive neuro-imaging ndings have poor GCS scores.

Haemorrhoids are a clinical symptom of a change in the normal functional architecture of the inflamed and swollen veins known as the anal cushion. Numerous treatment opportunities are available for this communal issue, but Baron's Gum Ligation (RBL) is the utmost frequently used technique for second- and third-degree haemorrhoids because it treats hemorrhoidal disease without anaesthesia, hospitalization, minimal complications, and ooutpatient discharge is uneventful compared to conventional surgery. Purpose: We conducted this study to evaluate the effectiveness of rubber band ligation in the treatment of second- and third-degree haemorrhoids. Methodology: This prospective study was performed on 76 patients over a six-month period at the Department of General Surgery from January 2021 to June 2021 at Islam Medical College and Teaching Hospital Sialkot. Rubber rubber ligation was used in all patients. A maximum of two haemorrhoids in one session were banded, and third as needed in a check-up done two weeks later. At the end of the fourth week, post-banding assessments were made for the presence and absence of bleeding, pain, and haemorrhoidal prolapse. Results: Of the 76 patients, 60 (78.9%) were male and 16 (21.1%) were female. The M:F ratio was 5.0: 1.0. 37.85 years was the mean age of patients (range 15 to 68). The duration of symptoms in approximately 48 patients (63.2%) was less than one year old, and in 18 (23.7%) patients ranged from 1 to 3 years and 10 (13.2%) patients had symptoms for more than 4 years. Complications occurred in 23 patients, bleeding in three patients, pain in 18 patients, 2 patients have prolapsed. Conclusion: RBL is effective, safe and simple method of symptomatic treatment for 2nd and 3rd degree haemorrhoids in an outpatient setting.
