Much of the literature on the breakdown of the Weimar Republic has focused exclusively on elite competition or the political extremes for which young people got involved. This chapter sheds a different light on the importance of democratic youth involvement. After contextualizing the episode and bringing out the contradictory reality of the Weimar Republic between high culture and political failure, the complexities of youth political involvement are explored. A large proportion of the discourse on youth emphasized the pro-democratic character of youth mobilization. However, the divisions within the pro-democratic formation ultimately underlined that the political mobilization linked to it was too weak to stabilize the regime. Instead, the contradictory aspirations for the future of German democracy meant that democratic consolidation eventually failed whilst anti-regime mobilization grew.

The article presents a theoretical analysis of informative and manipulative influence on the socio-political consciousness and behavior of modern youth. The interpretation of consciousness in the psychological and political areas has been revealed, which makes it possible to consider information technologies as an important attribute of influence on political consciousness. There has been conducted the analysis of the psychological components of informative and manipulative technologies, which defined as the dominance of the spiritual state of the individual, the imposition of thoughts, ideas, attitudes, values and management of behavior in favor of the subject of influence. There has been revealed the idea that the favorable socio-political conditions encourage the media to exert influence by manipulating the political consciousness and behavior of young people. The opinion has been clarified, that the use of communication technologies, that optimize the implementation of policy actors of their tasks and responsibilities through rational means, sequence of actions, development of an appropriate algorithm of behavior, result in the implementation of human activities to achieve socially significant goals, including political one. In the context of this issue, the role of the media in the political processes of society has been revealed, where they act as a means of manipulative influence aimed at transforming the political consciousness of young people. The factors influencing the political consciousness of young people have been analyzed, where the most influential are: granting the right to edit, adding their own conjectures; distortion of information; submission of false information; being reticent about major events; being ahead of the curve. However, the main reason for the effects of informative and manipulative influence lies in the personal scope, where it is important to have the ability to think critically, to analyze, interpret, defend the point of view, have strong energy and will, to have different forms of verbal influence of optimal mechanisms of thought and actions appropriate to the situation. Methods of effective counteraction to informative and manipulative influences have been determined. The main one is the ability to distribute information in the associative space, when one constructs the absence of intersection of the discussed events by associative connection with other unrelated events. Due to effective approaches, modern youth has the opportunity to stop being a "passive mass" and become active citizens who defend their opinions, make independent decisions and form their own patterns of behavior.

Children and young people, including individual activists such as Greta Thunberg and Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, as well as larger groups such as March for Our Lives and It's Not Your Fault, are raising their profile and advancing their political agendas through social media, protests, and speeches. This article examines the ways in which their arguments draw on three forms of ethical underpinning: equity claims to the same rights as adults, assertions of unique rights or protections based on child status, and projections into a future adulthood to demand protection of the environment. While some adults have welcomed and lauded young people's political involvement, others object to the very idea of young people's presence in the political arena. Youth activism has been met with expressions of concern over supposed naïveté or vulnerability, as well as contempt and even aggression toward children who would disrupt an adult-dominated hierarchy through their action, speech, and writing

The study was conducted among young people in the Krasnodar region using the questionnaire developed by the author, as well as methods for determining the level of activity and motivation of the population. The data obtained allow us to determine the degree of involvement of young people in the activities of NGOs and political processes in the Krasnodar territory. The conducted research has shown the strengthening of the influence of youth public associations on socio-political processes, personnel policy, activation of their activities in the field of public diplomacy, volunteer movement, articulation of the interests of young people as a special social group of the population. Youth public associations are able to structure and regulate the activity of young Russian citizens, directing it in a constructive direction, while reducing the degree of protest moods if it is present. They do this work more effectively than the authorized state authorities, because they act on the ground, i.e. they work directly with representatives of the youth community, understand their needs, catch the mood and are able to change the current agenda without resorting to radical methods.

The article examines the main directions and results of the political and social modernization undertaken by the democratic governments of Chile during 2000-2019, identifies both the unconditional achievements associated with the gradual democratization of the political sphere, and the unresolved problems. Large-scale policies aimed at overcoming poverty and social exclusion, radically changing the education system, did not significantly reduce social inequality, create effective elevators for young people from the poorest strata. The reformism of the second government of M.Bachelet (2014-2018) increased the effect of disappointed expectations and the growing public disillusionment. The divergence of the results of political and social modernization, the conflict of new political opportunities, especially felt by young people, and old social approaches, became the main reason for the protest movement. The article analyzes the internal political processes, the decline of traditional left-centrism and the strengthening of radical tendencies, as well as the prospects for overcoming the crisis associated with the results of the national plebiscite on October 25, 2020.

This article considers the politics and aesthetics of the colonial Bildungsroman by reading George Moore's often-overlooked novel A Drama in Muslin (1886). It argues that the colonial Bildungsroman does not simply register difference from the metropolitan novel of development or express tension between the core and periphery, as Jed Esty suggests, but rather can imagine a heterogeneous historical time that does not find its end in the nation-state. A Drama in Muslin combines naturalist and realist modes, and moves between Ireland and England to construct a form of untimely development that emphasises political processes (dissent, negotiation) rather than political forms (the state, the nation). Ultimately, the messy, discordant history represented in the novel shows the political potential of anachronism as it celebrates the untimeliness of everyday life.
