In order to improve the control performance of position trajectory tracking of manipulator joint, a sliding mode control (SMC) method based on genetic algorithm(GA) is proposed in this paper. In this method, the performance of SMC algorithm is improved through adjusting the parameters of switching function and exponential approach law by genetic algorithm. The method was applied to accomplish the precise position control of manipulator joint. Simulation experiments show that the response time in manipulator joint control system by the SMC method based on GA is reduced 0.62s than the ordinary SMC algorithm. And the system restore stability time with a load change is also reduced 0.7s. External disturbance has no significant effect on the control system. The chattering of controller output is significantly reduced.

This paper presents a composite nonlinear feedback–based adaptive integral sliding mode controller with a reaching law (CNF-AISMRL) for fast and accurate control of a servo position control system subject to external disturbance. The proposed controller exploits the advantages of composite nonlinear feedback (CNF) and sliding mode control (SMC) schemes to improve the transient performance and increase the robustness of the closed-loop system. An integral sliding mode combined with a quick reaching law is designed to eliminate the effect of disturbances, which mitigates chattering and achieves finite-time convergence of the sliding mode. An adaptation tuning approach is utilized to deal with unknown but bounded system uncertainties and disturbances. When considering the model uncertainties and disturbances, the stability of the closed-loop system is verified based on the Lyapunov theorem. Numerical simulations are investigated to the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The transient performance of load disk position to step signal with disturbances using CNF, composite nonlinear feedback based integral sliding mode control (CNF-ISM), and the proposed CNF-AISMRL schemes is given. The simulation results indicate that, without acquiring the knowledge of bounds on system disturbances, the proposed control scheme has superior performance in the presence of time-varying disturbances.

Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) is a vehicle that is operated in the water surface without any person in the vehicle. Since there is no person in the ASV, a motion controller is essentially needed. The control system is used to make sure that the water vehicle is moving at the desired speed. In this paper, we use a Touristant ASV with the following specifications: the length is 4 meters, the diameter is 1.625 meters, and the height is 1.027 meters. The main contribution of this paper is applying the Sliding Mode Control system to the Touristant ASV model under the influence of environmental factors. The environmental factors considered in this work are wind speed and wave height. The Touristant ASV model is nonlinear and uses three degree of freedom (DOF), namely surge, sway and yaw. The simulation results show that the performance of the closed-loop system by using the SMC method depends on the environmental factors. If environmental factors are higher, then the resulting error is also higher. The average error difference between those resulted from the simulation without environmental factors and those with the influence of environmental factors is 0.05% for surge, sway and yaw motions.

A piston piezoelectric (PZT) pump has many advantages for the use of light actuators. How to deal with the contradiction between the intermittent oil supplying and position control precision is essential when designing the controller. In order to accurately control the output of the actuator, a backstepping sliding-mode control method based on the Lyapunov function is introduced, and the controller is designed on the basis of establishing the mathematical model of the system. The simulation results show that, compared with fuzzy PID and ordinary sliding-mode control, backstepping sliding-mode control has a stronger anti-jamming ability and tracking performance, and improves the control accuracy and stability of the piezoelectric pump-controlled actuator system.

To control wheeled inverted pendulum is a good way to test all kinds of theories of control. The control law is designed, and it based on the collaborative simulation of MATLAB and ADAMS is used to control wheeled inverted pendulum. Then, with own design of hardware and software of control system, sliding mode control is used to wheeled inverted pendulum, and the experimental results of it indicate short adjusting time, the small overshoot and high performance.

For optimal control of synchronous machine, chattering phenomenon will appear if traditional slider control is adopted because permanent magnet synchronous machine is a complex nonlinear time-dependent system with strong coupling of current and rotational speed to cause the deterioration of system control performance with load or load disturbance. In this article, based on the mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous machine, a control system for it, which combines sliding mode control and active disturbance rejection control, is proposed to improve the dynamic performance and robustness of control system. In the control system, sliding mode control is adopted to control the inner current of machine and active disturbance rejection control is adopted to control the outer speed. The load disturbance of system is also estimated and offset. The results of matlab simulation show that the control system can eliminate serious chattering phenomenon existing in sliding mode control, improves the robustness of system for load and system parameter disturbance as well as has great dynamic and static performance.

This paper proposed a finite time convergence global sliding mode control scheme for the second-order multiple models control system. Firstly, the global sliding surface without reaching law for a single model control system is designed and the tracking error finite time convergence and global stability are proved. Secondly, we generalize the above scheme to the second-order multimodel control system and obtain the global sliding mode control law. Then, the convergent and stable performances of the closed-loop control system with multimodel controllers are proved. Finally, a simulation example shows that the proposed control scheme is more effective and useful compared with the traditional sliding mode control scheme.

Sliding mode control (SMC) is a widely used control law for quadrotor regulation and tracking control problems. The purpose of this article is to solve the tracking problem of quadrotors using a relatively novel nonlinear control law based on SMC that makes use of a conditional integrator. It is demonstrated by a motivation example that the proposed control law can improve the transient response and chattering shortcomings of the previous approaches of similar SMC based controllers. The adopted Newton–Euler model of quadrotor dynamics and controller design is treated separately in two subsystems: attitude and position control loops. The stability of the control technique is demonstrated by Lyapunov’s analysis and the effectiveness and performance of the proposed method are compared with a similar integral law, also based on SMC, and validated by tracking control problems using numerical simulations. Simulations were developed in the presence of external disturbances in order to evaluate the controller robustness. The effectiveness of the proposed controller was verified by performance indexes, demonstrating less accumulated tracking errors and control activity and improvement in the transient response and disturbance rejection when compared to a conventional integrator sliding mode controller.
