ABSTRACTThe teaching of Algebra, in special Linear Algebra, to engineering students, come changing its focus since the popularization of personal computers. Various specialized softwares has been developed and has become feasible to pay more attention in the algebraic thinking to solve problems and minus attention in the calculus itself. But one needs to be careful to not go to the extreme of this teaching-learning process. The teaching of Algebra using computational software must not mean the teaching of a sequence of commands and its syntaxes. On the other hand, it must not mean to memorize a sequence of definitions and theorems. So we propose a equilibrium point based on our experience with students of engineering that attended in our lessons of Algebra with Scilab software.RESUMOO ensino de álgebra, especialmente álgebra linear (AL), para estudantes de engenharia, vem mudando seu foco desde a populariozação dos computadores pessoais. Diversos softwares especializados têm sido desenvolvidos e tornado possível prestar mais atenção ao pensamento algébrico para a solução de problemas do que ao cálculo em si. Mas é necessário ter-se cuidado para não ocupar os extremos nesse processo de ensino-aprendizagem. O ensino de álgebra usando softwares não deve significar ensinar uma sequência de comandos e suas sintaxes. Também não deve significar memorizar uma sequência de definições e teoremas. Assim, propõe-se um ponto de equilíbrio baseado na experiência com estudantes de engenharia que participaram das aulas de AL utilizando o Scilab.

In the framework of the subject “Analysis of aeronautical structural components” included in the Master of Science of Aeronautical Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de València, the application Kahoot! is employed in order to review the technical content and obtain feedback of the level of knowledge acquired by the students. Kahoot! allows developing multiple choice interactive quizzes that are solved in the classroom. Using this type of tools enhances the attention of the students and helps to create interesting discussions making the students be part of the teaching-learning process. Besides, the platform allows analyzing the results of the technical content reviewed which, in turn, permits the lecturer to adapt the didactic material to a real scenario. Furthermore, the results obtained from the assessment survey show the high level of satisfaction of the students with an activity which allows them to learn in a fun way. In conclusion, the application of Kahoot! for content review helps to perfect the teaching-learning process and improves academic performance in an attractive and engaging environment.

A lecturer should do an ‘extra efforts’ to make the teaching learning process run smoothly. However, during the process, there is a fallibility which might not be directly observed by the lecturer. The lecturer, therefore, needs to carry out an evaluation of his/ her teaching. It can be done is through applying Lesson Study which consists of plan, do and see and involving observers to optimize the process. This research was limited on answering the research problems: what are the observers’ roles in lesson study to improve the competency of the lecturers? and what are the mutual feedback of the observers in conducting lesson study? The design of this study was descriptive and qualitative research. The required data were collected by using active-participatory observation by observing 3 observers and 5 model lecturers. In addition, the researcher also did post-interview. Based on two cycles of lesson study, the researcher found that the observers had significant roles to improve their competency. Moreover, the findings showed that they got mutual feedback to improve their competency and classroom management which is discipline, active, interactive, enjoyable, and motivating to make an active learning. This proves that lesson study is worth to be applied in developing the competency of the lecturers in faculty of teacher training and education.

The use of multimedia in education has become a basic tool for educators. As Millennials and Generation Z use technology in their everyday life, the educational model has been shifting towards the use of multimedia and technology to enhance the active learning process. The objective of this project was to design, produce and implement short educational or instructional videos to present content with a more active approach and measure the impact on their understanding and preference. A video with the content of graduation requirements was produced, shared with 240 seniors of Engineering Academic Programs. The results show that 97% of the students liked the video and the way the content was shared and 91.6% of the students find the video format useful. The results show that the learning process was active and effective. The exit poll also shows that 97% of the students think that there should be more educational videos on some other processes. This project included the design, production and implementation of 18 videos. This research describes the approach and impact of using short videos in engineering and transition from a traditional method of sharing content to students to a more active learning environment.Keywords:Educational Videos; Active and Collaborative Learning; Student Engagement; Educational Innovation; Higher Education.

Advances in physiology and other fields are strongly associated with a solid base knowledge of biochemistry and cell metabolism. On the other hand, the complex and abstract nature of metabolic pathways, the traditional lecture method, and other factors made the teaching-learning process of biochemistry a challenging endeavor. To overcome this, we developed and tested a novel active learning tool called Interactive Metabolism ( iM-tool). The iM-tool was developed with simple and low-cost materials. We used it for interactive teaching of several metabolic pathways and physiological mechanisms for students enrolled in the Biochemistry subject belonging to different undergraduate courses. The results of evaluation tests showed that the iM-tool significantly (ANOVA, P < 0.01) and consistently improved the biochemistry knowledge of students in classrooms with up to 50 students for 7 different and consecutive academic semesters. A survey intended to mine students’ opinions on the tools showed significant satisfaction with the teaching using the iM-tool over traditional lecture-based teaching, and the iM-tool contributed to collaborative learning among students. Therefore, our results showed that the iM-tool improves the biochemistry and cell metabolism teaching-learning process in a more attractive and interactive manner.

<p>Innovative way in teaching L2 learners can be considered as a challenging job while it can be facilitated by using "Magic Box" as a tool box consists of many <span lang="EN-GB">stationeries</span>, types of papers and reuse things to innovate new interactive media. The main purpose of this study was conducted to identify the role of "Magic Box" in innovating interactive media in teaching vocabulary. The samples participants of the study were 10 students of English Department of STKIP Al Hikmah Surabaya. They were chosen because of they have to practice their teaching skills start from first semester, so they should develop their vocabulary. The lecture will guide and show to the students how to innovate interactive media using “Magic Box”. This study was designed as a qualitative study with pre-test and post-test instruments allow lectures to empirically evaluate the effectiveness of "Magic Box" in innovating interactive media in learning vocabulary by the students through formative assessment. After analyzing the pre-test and post-test it was found that using "Magic Box" has the important and determine role in teaching vocabularies to the students, as it was not possible as well as learning with just repetition and memorizing methods. Furthermore, "Magic Box" has its potential as a tool box for innovate interactive media, be able to motivate students especially the passive one in the whole teaching learning process, and also trigger the students to be more creative in innovating interactive media to improve their vocabulary.</p>

ARTIKEL HUBUNGAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR DENGAN HASIL BELAJAR PEKERJAAN DASAR OTOMOTIF SISWA JURUSAN TKR SMK NEGERI 1 LOLAK Dr. Eng. Zuldesmi, ST, M, Eng, David O. Mapaliey, ST, M. Eng. Liharman Pintubatu ABSTRAK Pendidikan merupakan salah satu proses kegiatan pembentukan sikap kepribadian, keterampilan dan meningkatkan potensi diri setiap orang untuk menghadapi masa depan. Pada umumnya sikap kepribadian siswa ditentukan oleh pendidikan, pengalaman, dan latihan-latihan yang dilalui sejak kecil. Keadaan di SMK Negeri 1 Lolak bahwa, motivasi belajar siswa masih rendah dalam pembelajaran Pekerjaan dasar otomotif (PDO) terlihat dari aktifitas didalam kelas, kurang antusias dalam belajar dan mengerjakan soal saat diberikan guru, tidak mengerti apa yang akan dipelajari, dan tidak memahami mengapa sesuatu itu perlu dipelajari yang akhirnya kegiatan belajar-mengajar kurang efisien, siswa tidak kondusif pada saat guru menjelaskan. Dengan demikian tujuan yang hendak dicapai dalam penelitian ini yaitu Mengetahui hubungan motivasi belajar dengan hasil mengajar pekerjaan dasar otomotif Siswa Jurusan TKR SMK Negeri 1 Lolak Tahun Pembelajaran 2019/2020. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Dan hasil penelitian: diperoleh hasil Tingkat motivasi belajar siswa bernilai 3,09 dengan nilai rata-rata tertinggi menunjukkan pada ulet dan tidak putus asa 3,29, nilai rata-rata terendah berada pada tekun dalam menghadapi tugas 2,94. The motivations of students in SMK NEGERI 1 LOLAK in learning basic automotive work is still low. It is seen from the activities in class, the students are often lack of enthusiasm for learning and working on the duty that given by the teacher, they also do not understand what will be learned, and not understanding why it needs to be learned, and those make teaching-learning process is less efficient. Thus the goal that must be achieved in this study is underlying the relationship between motivation of learning with the result of teachingbasic automotive work of TKR students SMK NEGERI 1 LOLAK,  2019/2020. The research method used is qualitative research. And research results: obtained results of the 3.09 value levels of students' learning rates with the highest average rates show on 3.29, the lowest average value being on diligent in facing duties 2.94. This shows that students' learning motivation in SMK Negeri 1 Lolak categorized well.   Keywords: The relationship of learning motivations with the result of learning basic automotive work.
